For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Thanks for all the congratulations, and thanks Stuffit - I'm SO sorry things aren't going well and you're having a tough time, do come and moan anytime you want though - wouldn't it be just a bit comforting to get it off your chest here? I know everyone would want to listen and do stroking. I really hope things start getting better for you xx

filthymindedvixen · 12/11/2008 18:17

Hello beautiful fruiters! I'm sorry to hva been neglecting ignoring you absent for a wee while, RL is manic and I have been suckered into Facebook
But I haven't joined any MN group or anything,so I haven't been disloyal to you or anything... but have found some old friends which is lovely
And the irony is, the more I neglect MN and the 10/10nners, the more fruit and veg I have been consuming !
I have been hitting 10/10 for days now....!

Now, will you all think me very bossy if I say we need a new title!

filthymindedvixen · 12/11/2008 18:21

Boco? Did you pass??? hopw brillinat

TooTicky · 12/11/2008 18:26

Stuffit, come and moan to us. We've missed you.

Wombling - bless you - dd2 is wearing 2-3ish mostly.

Ds1 should be okay for school tomorrow (although he says he hates Thursdays) as long as I bring him home for lunch.

Ds2 has his op next Weds. The day after ds1's pre-op assessment

SuperBunny · 12/11/2008 18:29

Hello!

YAYYYY BOCO! Well done!

Is Franny ok?Is she coming back?

STUFFIT! You don't need to be doing 10/10 to be here. Things sound quite tricky. Are you ok? Must all be quite an adjustment. Keep talking to us- we miss you.

Mou, why do so many artists suffer with depression? My friend who died recently had quite a promising future as a painter & art professor.

filthymindedvixen · 12/11/2008 18:53

stuffit, do you contribute to the MN FOOC thread? I'd like to hear more!

OsmosisBOOnana · 12/11/2008 18:55

Stuffit! Yay!

I know - tragic isn't it how me n my rather messy life have come to this?!? the life of chickens....

When we lived in Pakistan we had a similar set up. If you need a moan, I understand (from an 8 year olds perspective!) my mum had a really hard time, for a number of reasons, not least handing over control of the house to others. Many other reasons too, lack of bacon def an issue!!!

littlerach · 12/11/2008 19:00

Good to see you Sruffit, and I'd love to hear more form you.

FMV, I love the FOOC thread, it is my second fave (after tbis one of cousre)

Crap day for F&V
grapes
muselie
tomatoes
beans (?)
Lemoin cake

Dh away so am bit yuck. He's been at home and off owrk for almost a fortnight so miss him a bit.

pinkspottywellies · 12/11/2008 19:00

Stuffit, that all sounds quite hard Do come into the fruity yurt and talk to us. Might help you just to offload.

TooT is ds2's op a fairly instant recovery thing or will he have to be careful and wait for his sight to improve and things? And how long between ds1's pre-op and op? Hope he doesn't have to wait much longer

Boco I thought you'd disappeared forever. I thought I was going to have to start stalking you across wider MN!! So pleased for you about your test will you have your own car or share with DP?

stuffitllama · 12/11/2008 19:02

Hoho me old muckers!

Toot what both having ops? I haven't read enough or I've got confused along the way .. that sounds rotten.

I don't do fooc, maybe I should join the living overseas bunch. You do feel like a right nonce and rather alone when everyone else is doing marvellously and quite frankly you have no excuse when you've got x people doing this and that, and the whole package. If it doesn't make the children happy it's not worth a fig, that's what I say.

Dh was away for the first five weeks out of seven but around a bit more now. It's stopped raining until May how odd is that -- and I'm going to try to swim through the winter.

OB Pakistan must have been very different even 15 years ago to the way it is now. I have much respect for anyone who was out in the subcontinent before ooh 2006 or so.

OsmosisBOOnana · 12/11/2008 19:05

Are the kids not happy then?

stuffitllama · 12/11/2008 19:13

They've been SSOO unhappy.. in three months my daughter has had one "playdate" (aged 11 -- still call them that? don't know what they are now) and my son (aged 12) none. There's not much to do after school except fight like rats in a sack in the car for forty minutes until we get our isolated home. It's just not normal. They should be hanging around at school, cycling down to town or to the shops, going to bonfire nights with their mates, you know.

It is getting slightly better in that I let them stay at school now for an hour, just to let them shake out the day, and they kick a football or throw a few hoops with the other children. But all the great music they were doing has just stopped, and my daughter's sport ("player of the season" ) too so .. moan moan whinge whinge sorry

stuffitllama · 12/11/2008 19:18

OB remind me why are you writing essays about chicken farming

as if anyone needs a reason

FrannyandZooey · 12/11/2008 19:22

boco omg how fabulous
really excited for you
you could come and visit me???

any more big news i have missed? stuffit very sorry indeed to hear your troubles. do hang out here if it helps - don't worry about f+v stuff

pineapple, satsumas, raisins, grapes
avocado, tomato, cucumber, red pepper
puy lentils, red lentils, parsnips
more satsumas, apple

i have organised vast home ed trip to farm tomorrow
people are coming from all over east anglia
and now ds is wailing - actually wailing in manner of one bereaved - because he feels sick
christ on a bike

will try to return
xx

filthymindedvixen · 12/11/2008 19:27

xx

pinkspottywellies · 12/11/2008 19:27

Franneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

Stuffit, it sounds like there's a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. How come the sport and music have stopped?

stuffitllama · 12/11/2008 19:27

goodness this is like a waltons reunion thread for me

how are you Franny, how is Lucien? and ..home-edding? I didn't know that

respect at amazing vegetable intake

stuffitllama · 12/11/2008 19:33

Thank you pink and littlerach, it does feel very nice and fruity in the yurt, am definitely in Peter Rabbit mode ready to snuggle down in the leaves

I think there is light .. the sport is not here, only football and cricket, and the music is private lessons only, with no band at the school

how's life with you pink?

BBBee · 12/11/2008 19:33

womblingalong · 12/11/2008 19:40

Franny,

Hello my lovely chief vegger,

Home ed trip sounds brave and exciting. I have posted on the breast pump thread, do you still want it?

Stuffit, hello, please come back and let us know how you are, I keep thinking of you and how you are getting on, we've missed you, and Franny

pinkspottywellies · 12/11/2008 19:41

I'm good thanks Stuffit. I feel all fat and bleurgh at the minute though

stuffitllama · 12/11/2008 19:48

why fat and bleurgh? I'm sure you are not bleurgh

wombling are you still coming out here next year?

mou · 12/11/2008 19:52

Hello stuffit, i'm mou.....have to say sorry for your troubles, whatever they are and I am sure you would find solace and comfort on this thread....everyone has been brilliant for me and I bet you would want to give a friend a shoulder..

SB , I think that it sort of the other way round, that people suffering with depressive type ailments have a propensity for being creative. So they don't so much 'suffer for their art' but 'create for their suffering'. However the research may prove otherwise.

Juice,

waterchestnuts(?)
apple and blackcurrant,

Thinking of your DC's Toot.

Loads of work so g'night all.

stuffitllama · 12/11/2008 19:54

Hi Mou, and thank you, and goodnight! See you next time x

FrayedKnot · 12/11/2008 19:54

Hello hello hello everyone

I was really missing you today Franny

You used to post lots of lovely links to interesting things like super wooden toys and places to go and all sorts. It was most edifying and I miss it.

Hope DS holds it all in for tomorrow...

Stuffit....it does sounds really difficult - especially with your children just at the ages they are. can I ask how long this particular situation is likely to last, or do you not know?
