For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

LR

Blimey @ flying washing - I haven't hung my washing out for weeks - the spare bedroom is festooned!

TooTicky · 11/11/2008 13:29

I like walking by the canal Mou. It's a good route to and from playgroup/school. And it's BRILLIANT when it freezes - love the squeaky noise the stones make on the ice.
Wildlife quite good too, funny mix though.

mou · 11/11/2008 14:25

Highlight of my week so far...
My smart-ass, answer for everything son, is on one so I say. 'Ok sunshine, what came first, the chicken or the egg?'

He, all cocky, 'the egg OF COURSE.'

Me, 'so, who laid the egg then?'

Clouds have been drifting past his eyes ever since, he-he. childishly smug mummy moment!

SuperBunny · 11/11/2008 18:07

Hope DDs cope with the goodbye, LR. Don't your ILs live somewhere over here?

Hope you are ok, mou

How's everyone else. It's cold here and looks abit like it might snow. I'm not ready for real snow yet.

Oatmeal with rye flakes, cinnamon, raisins & apple (2)
Broccoli pesto with peas, capers and olives (3)
Juice

Six. Without cheating. Hooray!

Will have a look at my possibly-cunting mango later.

SuperBunny · 11/11/2008 18:12

Ooo, I've just seen that Boco is doing the MN xmas card. Yay! Well done Boco, they look fab.

mou · 11/11/2008 18:27

Am OK thank-you SB, just a bit fragile, the other thread has really helped.

It feels a little like snow over here too.

Juice, banana, beans, errrrr....
I am going to eat a pear now!

at your mango!

Are you OK? When exactly is Thanksgiving and have you made a decision?

Yes, Boco's cards are fab. Clever Lady.

I am waiting to pick DD up from Rainbows and have a painting to finish later, but DS wants to go night cycling. So I will put 10 layers on and wobble down the road.

I love that noise too Toot.

DS is home and he is on one......groan.

SuperBunny · 11/11/2008 19:03

Haven't made a decision re thanksgiving yet. It's in two weeks and I need ex to tell me what he wants to do. He is being rather non-communicative which is not helpful.

Canal sounds lovely. I miss them. You don't get much wildlife along the lakefront. Or anywhere in the city.

BBBee · 11/11/2008 19:28

hello fruities!

Oh sorry to alarm you wiht my facebook status - am being all over dramatic about a horrid worky thing with inadequate people not doing thier jobs properly when it is really important to do it properly and it makes me cross.

hope you are all well and fruity. Happy that baby pink is a bit less baby and hope it was a lovely day.

am off to hunt down that boco bitch and look at her wonderful drawings.

littlerach · 11/11/2008 19:36

Yes, SB, they live in California, not far from LA. I have only met them about 6 times as they don't come back that often due to LIM's ill health at times. Plus they have lots of people visiting them over there, and SIL has 2 children that they help care for.

They are planning to move back here, but with all the economy problems in USA, they put their plans on hold for a while. They are now hoping that thinmgs will pick up next year and do so then.

Dds managed not to cry too much!!

Tomato
Another banana

pinkspottywellies · 11/11/2008 20:00

DD shunned her ice-cream at dinner time in favour of pineapple

I've also had pineapple and too much rubbish.

OsmosisBOOnana · 11/11/2008 20:34

I have hit a wall. I have not done enough essay.

It is dark.

Tell me what the health benefits are of choosing non battery eggs someone, I cannot find much solid info.

TooTicky · 11/11/2008 20:36

I love it when mine do things like that Pink

Crazy day.

TooTicky · 11/11/2008 20:39

Hello OB. Talk to me.

mou · 11/11/2008 20:47

Mmmmm, health benefits of choosing non-battery eggs.
Mental health..the knowledge that you are making the right choice and actually doing something good is life affirming and when we feel good about ourselves...eerrrr....we feel better in general and therefore our physical and mental coping abilities are stronger....coo I can still talk bollox!!!!

Boco · 11/11/2008 20:50

Hello Veggers how are you all? Not found this thread for ages.

I have my driving test tomorrow I'm trying very hard to be calm and relaxed and not visualise all the worst case scenarios. It's quite hard work though.

Am glued to xmas card poll, very exciting having people vote - I thought the father xmas one would win so i'm surprised it's coming last!

How's everyone else?

FrayedKnot · 11/11/2008 21:35

GOOD LUCK BOCO!!!!!

FrayedKnot · 11/11/2008 21:36

Now I need to read the rest of the thread

OsmosisBOOnana · 11/11/2008 21:54

Go Boco! Gorgeous kids btw, just been spying on you on FacieB (shh, I'm not a stalker honest).

TooT - you got sumfink for me?? Have only found 'anecdotal' evidence of increased vit B12. Not much to base an essay on.

This is what happens when you choose your own title, it goes down the shitter.

Mou - yes, I have a paragraph on the 'feel good' factor of happy eggs. I shall not delete it, just for you

Have done 1365 words, half way through and have said.... uh... nothing.

I have a dead good table though of mean price per egg per standard per supermarket. You can stroke it if you like.

daisy99divine · 11/11/2008 22:07

OOOOOOOo I am here at a time when the Yurt is positively buzzing!

BBB sorry re work thing, I have never looked at facebook, don't need another internet addiction!

Osba how about a bit on the stress to the hen? waatched a prgramme once on chickens being bred "free" in same space and same cost as battery hens the hens chose what they liked and the eggs were better as were the hens

cauli carrot orang1e juice peas sweetcorn and no punctuation at all

Pink big sticker for pinklette

good luck with driving test! Off to vote for Boco's card

FrayedKnot · 11/11/2008 22:22

What time is your test Boco btw? Just so we can hold thumbs a la Ballet Shoes.

mou · 11/11/2008 22:26

Go Boco! shouldn't they be doing them as a set?

All those words and you have said nothing...are you sure you aren't doing Fine Art?

Good luck with driving lesson Boco, and thanks for reminding me of Rescue remedy....I might get a bucket.

Hi Daisy.... I think it is our first christmas together in the yurt...I am all excited.

daisy99divine · 11/11/2008 22:34

I didn't realise that you had done all the cards Boco! I voted for the birthing ball but the name one is miles ahead. they are jolly good!

hello mou, yes a yurty christmas. I need to up my game, no cake or clever stockings in Daisy home yet

TooTicky · 11/11/2008 22:38

Ooh, you are all here talking. Where are Boco's cards?
Oh, good luck Boco!!!!!

OB, what about B12 exactly?
Have you seen footage of masses of little live chicks just being poured off a tray to find a wee space to live? Shocking.
And you know that the male chicks are often minced alive? [no emoticon is forceful enough]

TooTicky · 11/11/2008 22:47

Fabulous cards Boco
Have voted.

Where have you all gone? [paranoid]

mou · 12/11/2008 00:07

about male chickens.

Have rethought my Essay subject and thought it might be usefull and interesting to research Art and Depression given that so many famous ones were mad as buckets emotionally challenged. Quite excited still. Done a few notes (and margin doodles!)
