For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

anyway,. I refuse to get into a nutritional debate with you Franny (you will win hands down, and make me eat vegan, organic humble pie....)

I have got all hyper in anticipation of tuesday's full moon (and my birthday 4 days after) and invited 20 women from random facets of my life to a night of wine, tapas and firepit. It's going to be hormonal soup, isn't it? )

I need to teach myself for once and for all that the enjoyment of everyone's night is NOT my responsibility!

FrannyandZooey · 16/05/2008 20:53

ooh
it sounds very good

So when I'm doing my nutrition degree can I use you all as guinea pigs? I won't have to do much it looks to me.

Fullmoonfiend · 16/05/2008 21:05

to OB

Franny but I'm terrified! I have spent years keeping different sets of friends in their separate boxes

Fullmoonfiend · 16/05/2008 21:06

Obv any 10/10 who fancies a night up north is more than welcome...!

FrannyandZooey · 16/05/2008 21:08

ooh it could be marvellous
but will you feel a bit if they all get on marvellously and then start swopping phone numbers and arranging to meet for coffee? cos I would

Fullmoonfiend · 16/05/2008 21:09

Fullmoonfiend · 16/05/2008 21:10

womblingalong · 16/05/2008 21:56

Hello Moony! Haven't bumped into you for ages. Did you get the books

3andnomore · 16/05/2008 21:58

HI All again....
well....on the topic of fruit and vegetables...Slimming World has very much kicked my backside into gear....I had over the day, a small punnet of Blackberries, a punnet of raspberries, a punnet of strawberries, 1 big handful of radish sprouts (they are supergorgeous, btw...but you all probably know that already), Lettuce, raw cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, cucumber, yellow pepper, courgette, mushrooms, onion and garlic...

Dh has taken all 3 boys plus an extra boy away camping somewhere near Great Yarmouth, and they won't return until Sunday afternoon sometime....wohoo...I am free....although, I do want to do a lot of cleaning...at least I will have some time to appreciate the clean house, without anyone messing up right after me, lol!
It does feel really weird though, all alone, just me and the dog (cat has run away)...!

FMF that course seems very interesting...however, despite knowing all that about the dairy propaganda and how bad caffein is and stuff....I still can't bring myself to "avoid" it....When I Jason Vale'd last year I really cut down and changed to soya, but it just wasn't the same, and I never really liked the Soya milk taste, I must admit...

OB, when are you going to start your degree? I had pondered about doing something with nutrition...but well, decided that I would enjoy OT even more...which reminds me, must fill out crb form and other stuff, so, that I definately can take my place in september...

FrannyandZooey · 16/05/2008 22:11

FMF, it will be fab. As long as you have fun, who cares? I always keep my friends separate. They Never Meet. I think it is for the best. Separate continents helps

Not more mice! Was it mice before?

I have just discovered something rather delicious.

I got it from Waitrose but it would be so easy to make.

It's a dip made from beetroot (pureed, obv), tahini, horseradish and pomegranate molasses.

Now I've no idea what pomegranate molasses are but I suppose it is just to make it sweet...I am going to experiment when next I have some beetroot, maybe try some ordinary molasses.

TooTicky · 17/05/2008 13:01

Something has been nibbling in our veg cupboard. Dp has blocked all gaps but still it nibbles [torn]

duchesse · 17/05/2008 13:13

Love your thread title!

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2008 14:13

my god the dip sounds odd and delicious

yes it was mice and they apparently are living in our neighbour's insanely overgrown garden and then coming into our nice clean larder
well into our larder anyway
and they are in the loft and (TooT look away) dp keeps putting poison down for them ruddy constantly
I pretend I don't know

TooT a humane trap and then take it out for a nice country walk maybe?

Wow Toot, how old is DD2? DS is struggling with recognising any letters other than B. "Dis is the B one mummy"

Eeek at mice.

Weird dip sounds strangely delicious.

I've been to the farmer's market where I discovered a wondeful vegan bakery and then to the allotment. There is a group helping. I was supervising but had to come home to do 'something'. I don't think they envisaged a cup of tea and MN. Should probably go back.
