For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello

I am trying to give up dairy (& have been having as little wheat as possble for months now) to see if it helsp my terrible itchy elbows.

Well I think it probably does, tbh, but it's so hard not eating cheese, I agree....pasta is difficult when you are a parmesan addict, for example.

I fell right off the wagon last week with the crappy icecreams etc.

Have had pineapple, strawbs, watermelon, apple, rocket, watercress, carrots.

Can anyone who eats veggie suasages regularly tell me which brand(s) they buy? We tried cauldron tonight but DS didn;t like them as he said they were too spicy.

Hope everyone is OK, I see I will have to deaprt to the underworld to see what everyone is actually up to

FrayedKnot · 14/05/2008 21:03

Sorry FMF that's great news!

I thought no-one was posting news here but then realized I just hadn;t read things properly.

FK we buy redwood

titles anyone? people are requesting a new unified thread after all this anarchy

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 14/05/2008 22:09

I think the new title should be BBB's idea from last week:

We eat fruit

FrannyandZooey · 14/05/2008 22:13

was it not
"We eat fruit. It is nice."?

well it is certainly pithy. And conveys our message.

FK - Redwood sage and marjoram sausages are a hit here. Frys are good too - ds may find the hotdog ones a little spicy.

Actually, talking of Redwood - the dairy-free cheese is actually quite get-used-to-able. I mean, the mozzarella or gouda or edam melting ones are good on pizza. I have almost enjoyed the non-melting mature cheddar one in a sandwich with lots of tomato.
Oh, and you can get vegan parmesan - it is quite convincingly socky

FrannyandZooey · 14/05/2008 22:22

yes sage and marjoram our favourite
the other varieties a bit wet and flavourless IMO

We'll beetroot gather again

(We'll be together again - the first line from that Erasure song)

A bit contrived perchance

But it is my first ever suggestion so please be gentle

TooTicky · 14/05/2008 22:39

Yay about boat. I wonder if I'll ever make it back to Leeds...

Great blood pressure, zippi at camping equipment. I have been invited on 2 camping trips but have no gear and the only people who have any would be with me.

I may brave the Vegan cheeze section on Friday.

I like "We eat fruit. It is nice." but am singing, "We'll beetrootgether again"

ny f&v eating has become SHITE and I don't think i've done any exercise in about 5 years

we seem to be living on pasta sauce and bananas atm. and this stuff which, for all their witterings, is basically sugar and chocolate (it tastes like the ice cream from here though which was an important part of my childhood

do i really have to compare my nipples to a dulux paint chart though?
