For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

i was goping to walk to warwick after college but swerved into kwikfit instead

FrayedKnot · 14/04/2008 19:01

Evening all

Lol at plodge and kwik fit ditters

MrsC I bet Abraxas would make you something rather wonderful. I got my engagement ring from there and they were v. helpful. Emeralds would suit you

Idris it sounds like you are enjoying not working

Tigerfeet hope the AD's start having a positive effect soon.

BBBee I love that you ranked us just from the pov that we are inspiring you

I am on for the 27...so how do I do it..

Muesli - oats, nuts, pumpkin seeds, dried fruit, with almond milk (5?)
Fruit salad - kiwi, strawbs, grapes, melon, watermelon (5?)
Salad of leaves & avocado (2?)
Hoummous with a Dr Karg's spelt cracker (would that count?) (2?)
Supper - cold roast leftovers (assuming meat doesn;t count), mashed potato & salad of leaves, beetroot, peppers & celery (5?)

That seems to be about 19. I also ate some oat digestives. And an After Eight.

I can;t see how I could possibly fit 27 in

UnderRated · 14/04/2008 19:11

I want to see that film now, Franny Why on earth can't you stay for his gymnastics class. What a strange situation.

Tigerfeet, your DH sounds lovely. I think your ADs are the same as mine - hope they help. The Podcast for running is very helpful. I hate running with a passion but I managed it with the podcast and quite enjoyed it.

MrsC, it must feel very strange knowing this is your last period. You definitely deserveruby necklaces, chamapgne cocktails and a slouchy cardigan. The emerald ring sounds lovely.

lol @ BB ranking the veggers. I'm usually quite poor but have been making an effort recently.

Where is 100?

The 27 natural foods thing sounds interesting. I would have to invest in some seeds and grains - what could I put in muesli other that oats?
Does it mean we can't eat unnatural things or just that they don't count? I definitely need help with this.

F&V: mushrooms, peas, corn, broccoli (4)

Barley, garlic, onion, chocolate drops(?) (4)

so 4 F&V and 8 natural things. Must eat more.

TigerFeet · 14/04/2008 19:13

What you need, ladies, to get to your 27 is a curry

Houmous should deffo count for the chickpeas and tahini imo - what about the garlic though? How much garlic counts as a 27ish portion?

Oooh and what about Kiki Superfood?

Fullmoonfiend · 14/04/2008 19:21

oh well, even my cake comes from natural stuff; flour, sugar, home made rasp jam, butter, eggs, cocoa, oats, dried fruit, cherries = 1,365

Am having chilli for supper, tomatoes, kidney beans, onion, peppers, mushrooms, rice?

stuffitllama · 14/04/2008 19:28

hello
have read in vaguely to know that we are being graded by BB
oo er.. also that we are doing 27 now? with nuts?
so nicoise all full of toms, beans, salad, corn etc and four portions broccoli beans and carrots and half banana and a dried apricot and some black chocolate
wish i could stay to chat
your chilli sounds lovely fiend
i can't get my head round pmt without periods Mrs C, I am sort of imagining it building up and up and up .. which I guess doesn't happen but that's what my head does with it

finding it very lazy easy to eat raw. do you do much of this?

did you see my thing about toddlers and veggies
it was in the daily mail so none of you can possibly have seen it except through my link

littlerach · 14/04/2008 19:32

Think I ma probably not even on the list.

But I did have muesli for breakfast, wirth added fruit in it. And nuts.

And some salad.

And lots of other crap healthy natural type stuff.

TooTicky · 14/04/2008 19:32

I want to know where I am on Bee's list.

We were supposed to be meeting a lovely MNer today but it all went wrong and we couldn't so we hurtled down to Weymouth on the train and had some sun and fun and showers and chips - actually edible chips from a chippery
(I am a very non-chipshop person - not through snobbery, just because they are vile)
I took a box of leftover kale/cauli/potato curry and rice and forgot to take an implement to eat it with, so I rather fell on it when we got back.

MrsC, that must be most odd. I like the three idea

FrayedKnot · 14/04/2008 19:33

Mmmm...curry...

Franny I think DS will manage just fine by the sounds, but I admit it seems a bit odd you cannot stay for as long as he wants

I have been putting off arranging swimming lessons for DS for this very reason..he will not want me not to come in with him

Twiglett · 14/04/2008 19:33

ahhh and order is restored

I do like it when I get your thread titles

carry on

UnderRated · 14/04/2008 19:35

I saw it, stuffit.
It made me worry about poor DS

Is there a link to the 26/ 27 thing? I was wondering about soy milk - does it count? Because it's not a naturally occurring thing, is it? It's been processed. But still good for you.

FrayedKnot · 14/04/2008 19:42

So has hoummous been processed and doesn;t count? And my cracker?

Oh dear

I don;t think I want to play anymore

UnderRated · 14/04/2008 19:44

No, I hummous must be ok because its only been squished. And it definitely counts in the F&V thing. I don't think I understand the 27 thing though .

I am having terrible chocolate cravings.

BBBee · 14/04/2008 19:45

oh god I don;t think i can cope with the 27 thing, I lose track of the 10.10

so if we eat museli and curry and fruit salad we are almost there?

I feel a bit weak.

BBBee · 14/04/2008 19:46

good idea UR - we should both go and have some high cocoa solids chocolate. That will bring us closer to the 27 too.

littlerach · 14/04/2008 19:46

Humous has to count, it is part of my staple diet.

Should i not mention my delicious moist choc cake? With extra thick double cream?????

BBBee · 14/04/2008 19:47

tell me what supplements you take or will start break away thread...

zippitippitoes · 14/04/2008 19:49

i told you supplements but possibly a bit lost in my other stuff lol

UnderRated · 14/04/2008 19:49

littlerach

I don't take any Bee, but I think I should.

zippitippitoes · 14/04/2008 19:49

is caffeine a supplement

stuffitllama · 14/04/2008 19:49

does black chocolate count au naturel?

at once BBBE
zinc, linseed oil and 1mg vit c

UnderRated · 14/04/2008 19:49

I found a chocolate chip on the floor and ate it

zippitippitoes · 14/04/2008 19:49

are supplements 10/10
