Stripteasle · 18/05/2008 23:47

Hello Gerbra, i'm very well thankou!

Actually, its the 2nd anniversary of my sisters death this week.

gerbrajess · 18/05/2008 23:49

Oh god stripteasle, am so sorry...
I'm very aware that no words will really cut it with that kind of anniversary...I hope it passes in some way peacefully...

gerbra xx

Stripteasle · 18/05/2008 23:51

Thats ok- its her kids really, not me. they are all in their 20s now- but its still really hard for them.

gerbrajess · 18/05/2008 23:55

But it stll must be horrific for you too...sending you hugs over the ether...you know about me and my sister...am dreading the day I get bad news about her cos she won't let anyone near her

Gerbra xx

Stripteasle · 18/05/2008 23:57

I know, sorry, not much to do with the thread is it? I do miss her.
Thanks Gerbra.
night x

gerbrajess · 19/05/2008 00:03

From what I've seen, this thread covers a million things though Teasle - this will be a tough week for you - come and chat if you want to...despite my sometimes drunken, sometimes ham-fisted, all the time stupid ways, I'm a very good listener and think I can sympathise and relate to you in a lot of sibling ways!
Night night
Gerbra x

BrassicMonkey · 19/05/2008 00:26

Thanks girls - I do feel quite positive and in control of my own life for a change.

Thinking of you teasle. Love to your nieces and nephews too xx

Agree Gerbra, this thread covers loads of aspects of our lives that might seem unrelated to alcohol. When you stop drinking dependantly everything becomes relevant because you've no longer got that softener. The harder parts of life seem so raw and vicious now and any euphoria seems less euphoric because you can't enhance it with a glass of something toxic. That's why I was banging on earlier about all the good things about being sober. When I was drinking my life was full of highs and lows - now it's a lot more balanced and I have to keep noticing the good things to keep my enthusiasm up.

Night everyone

PC - you do not need to punish yourself. You need to be kind to yourself. Is there anyone who can come round and watch the DC so that you can go to bed?
