Anyone want to join me in a very easy peasy diet?

Im on hols in June so that is my incentive. Beginning of December I went of a cut down diet. All I did, was after my main meal at night, I ate.... NOTHING. No picking... chocolate, biscuits, popcorn (dont we love our popcorn on MN? , crisps....nothing. Oh and no pudding!

I lost nearly 1/2 stone just by not picking.

I ate what I liked during the day, biscuit, chocolate... what ever I liked, but just stopped at night.

I have to say, I did go to bed a little bit hungry, but felt so gooooooood the next day, especially as by the end of the first week my stomach had gone down considerably, and by the second week my clothes felt looser.

Who wants to join me? anyone?

Hello All!
Back from a fantastic week in beautiful Cornwall. Pretty much forgot the diet, enjoyed wine and chocolate, cake, ice cream.....and curiously it would seem I've lost 1lb.

Now either it's going to dump itself on my hips any moment now, or I saw it off with all the surfing (hah!) and cliff scrambling.

Whatever, I'm pretty happy, motivated and hungry.

Wolfgirl · 02/07/2008 13:16

Hey Cadders..... I wondered where you'd gotten to! glad you had a great time, I think we will do a week in Cornwall before the summer is out. We went about 2 summers ago and loved it to bits. where did you stay?

Yes, I lost some weight coming back from myhols, but I think I bought worms back too, as I cant seem to stop eating will no doubt pile it all back on in next week or so, but will try very very very hard to be good.

Welcome home though. xx

Awww, Thanks for the welcome Wolfie.

We went right to the bottom, Mousehole. (Oops, should I have rephrased that? )
Absolutely loved it, we've stayed all over Cornwall but i think I loved this place most of all.

cadelaide · 02/07/2008 22:56

Hey Wolfie, regarding your email, I'm definitely in it for the long haul.

Reckon it might take me all year at this rate, but I'm very determined.

cadelaide · 04/07/2008 23:44

Come on you lot, I can't do it on my own!

Oh Hello Christie!

Lucky DS, whichever he chooses.

I've had a fat weekend. DSs 9th bday party today so lots of crap food, I was tired and pre-menstrual and so I indulged. Can't imagine my little man ever being big enough to leave home, I shall continue my indulgence with a glass of wine and reflect on that in a maudlin manner.

Back on the wagon tomorrow though

Wolfgirl · 07/07/2008 13:24

Hello ladies, you all been quiet this week? I will send out the spreadsheet tonight, although I dont think Ive done too well. Hopefully managed to maintain rather than put on, so that might be something.

How you guys been getting on?

OP posts:
gscrym · 07/07/2008 20:01

I'm just back from holidays and have eaten nothing but crap. I walked a lot and went for a run (gummered my ankle) but I feel like the back end of a bus.

I'm going to start from scratch tomorrow. I have new scales and just need to get microsoft office sorted.

cadelaide · 07/07/2008 21:27

Hi Wolfie, Hi gscrym, nice to be reminded there are others suffering along with me!

We hired a cottage Wolfie, got a fab deal on ebay, lucky with the weather and had one of our very best holidays ever.

Wolfgirl · 08/07/2008 09:04

Go Gscrym..... but I bet if you been doing all that exercise you won't be big as house! But do come back next week. Glad you got new scales WhooooHoooo!!!

Hey Cadelaide! Purleazzzzzzzzzee give me the item no of the cottage or the name of the folks that hire it out. We need something dirt cheap, no.... sub-dirt cheap, but would love to go to Cornwall before DS starts school on 15th. What kinda dosh did you pay, and what facilities did the house have, how far from the beach, how many bedrooms..... that sort of thing.

Right then ladies!!! LOL. I have to eat my hat, because I did NOT put the 2lb lost back on, but only like a mini nano ounce, so Im not even going to think about that! I cant blimmin believe it. UNLESS of course, the piggin out will take its toll through this week. We all know that it takes a while to lose (even when we have been a saint all week) and can take over week for it turn to flab again.

I did go swimming last night, did 20 lengths, which is probably more of a warm up for some of you. But I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and so it was a major accomplishment. By the 16th length I was empty of energy, and soooooooo NOT enjoying the swim. Half the pool was cordoned off for a swimming club with the remainder of the pool shared between about 10 adults wanting to swim properly and about 10 kids or more splashing around. Everyone got in everyones way. Not too pleasant really. When I did finish my 20, I was so weak. could barely walk to my locker and wash hair etc. And could not help with tea, or kids or anything. Poor DH! But!!!! hopefully if I keep it up, then my muscles will build up and I will get better. Thats my hope anyway. And I ought to take a banana and some water for after. I forgot to take any drink, so was spitting feathers by the time I got home.

How did you guys get on last week? Speak soon

Another no change week Am I the only person in the world who actually weighs more after 5 months of breastfeeding than the day I came home from the hospital?!?

Anyway. We have just a couple of weeks till weaning, so I am about to GET SERIOUS lol. If I keep eating like this when ds is weaned, I'll be HUGE! So, I'll be following the letter of the law with no pudding law rule this week. Easy if we're home, but if I stop for a coffee when out, I'm going to skip the chocolate brownie too!

Good luck everyone

Wolfgirl · 08/07/2008 09:42

MamaChris.... would it be too rude for you to list what you might eat in a typical day, along with your physical chores / exercise you might do? We could help to suggest alternatives i.e Olivia spread instead of butter; Semi-skimmed instead of whole milk; wholemeal bread instead of white. I should imagine you are doing everything right.... but you never know.

Same for all of us I guess. This might be a good exercise for us all? Im all up for a bit of help

...I mean, too rude 'of me to ask'

MamaChris · 08/07/2008 09:59

Oh I know exactly what I do wrong. It's the chocolate I try and be good and not have it after 6pm, but have been really really hungry for months now! I've been having a smoothie (2 bananas, some soft fruit & milk) after dinner to keep nighttime hunger at bay. And, tbh, I've been treating this diet as a way not to continue gaining weight until ds weaned (I was gaining a pound a week before I started ). So a 2lb overall loss doesn't look that good, but it is really what I was aiming for.

But once he starts getting his calories from food and not me, I know I'm going to have to do better, so am planning to cut down on the daytime chocolate and midmorning toast over the next couple of weeks, so that I reduce my intake gradually rather than a step change, iyswim

MamaChris · 08/07/2008 10:05

Oh, and if you want the full, embarrassing list of food, this is yesterday:

breakfast: muesli + milk
midmorning: 1 toast + honey
lunch: pear and bounty bar
midafternoon: twirl
tea: slice of courgette pie + green beans
evening: smoothie

milk is soya, so can't change to skimmed.

and honestly (!) I do normally have a sandwich for lunch, not a chocolate bar

the plan is to drop midmorning snack this week, then midafternoon the next, and drop smoothie as ds drops feeds, so I don't wake hungry in the night. I know there is a nothing after 6pm rule, but the smoothie has been my healthy compromise to let me feed ds through the night.

Wolfgirl · 08/07/2008 10:52

OK, the morning musli and mid morning toast is fine (I have two weetabix and one slice of toast with honey in the morning too)

Lunch; drop the bounty bar - it has NO nutritional value - but 200 calories!!! swap it for say..... Mmmmm liek you say - a sandwich.

Drop the afternoon chocolate. Swap with some nuts, or .... I will have a think (sory am at work, so cant think too well)

If this is a typical day, then I dont think you are doing too bad. We will all come up with some healthy alternatives. You are right about not dropping too much whilst you are BF, but seriously, you must get a grip soon else once the BF stops, you will spiral. That is what happened to me, and it takes an age to shift.

Back later m'dear

OMG!! I lost a pound

I wish i could say that this was down to dedicated exercise and careful nutrition but it's actually a fluke. I haven't had chance to MN recently, never mind exercise. If I'm losing any weight it must be stress-related!!

Anyway I'll continue on my gentle, being fairly-easy-on-self version of this diet until ds starts school in Sept. Then it's down to hard graft & regular exercise. I'll still be working PT but will have 2 days a week at home without kids. Time for me to rebuild myself mentally & physically.

Still can't believe I've lost weight this week - must be the booze, steak & fudge diet

Wolfgirl · 09/07/2008 08:44

duomonstermum · 09/07/2008 19:28

mamachris, i too funnily enough weigh more now than when i came out of hospital......after 19mths

have had stressful week and to top it off DSD1 has landed herself in hospital retaining urine. she had to have a catheter yest and had all kinds of tests today so spent all day in the hospital. why is it the moment you think of getting something to eat the docs look for you.......DH has come down with the cold ( i have been asked to point out that it has not yet progressed to "man flu", thankyou very much, and his "man ribs" are coming along rightly )so he'll not be much use.....

peachygirl · 10/07/2008 19:01
