For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Ooh Boco what fruit have you there that you would you recommend for tense upset threaditis?

Boco · 09/03/2008 22:50

for tense upset threaditis i'd recommend a slice of lemon in a gin and tonic. And then we can all have a cry, and then hold hands and sing for a bit, then fall asleep among the peelings.

Yes Dior do - hang out here while you prepare!

Good night

ahundredtimes · 09/03/2008 23:04

Yes, I must go to bed too. I didn't mean to spend my night arguing with a cross teddy.

Boco · 09/03/2008 23:05

No I didn't either. Rather confused. Maybe we missed something? All a bit hysterical if not.
Good night.

UnderRated · 09/03/2008 23:27

What is all this about a storm tomorrow? MN seems quite hysterical tonight.

Why is it impossible for me to find red lentils over here? I neeeeeed some but none of the shops have them. They're not that strange are they?

onebatmother · 10/03/2008 01:14

I think you might find them in the Asian section of the supermarket, UnderRated.

Hello everyone.. hope you're all v well.

BBBee · 10/03/2008 05:46

hi ur

there is a big storm forecast for the coast and most of UK today. I am up early and it is very rainy and a bit windy but not dramatically stormy.

perhaps that is why mn is a bit cross - all stormy.

BBBee · 10/03/2008 05:47

hi onebat

yes that is good suggestion - they are very common here. and nice and healthy.

Ooh avi, there you are, it is v stormy indeed here and we have been fretting about you (and about dp who insisted on going off on his bike as usual)

Mr Avi's face trying not to laugh or move while balancing a ball on his head on a drill while 7 children skipped around him was SUPERB. I will treasure the memory for a long time and it will sustain me in times of need.

100 I am going to say the complete opposite of TooT and this is probably not very 10 / 10 ish advice but I would go and get your make up done professionally (unless they are providing make up artist also). If I was having a photo taken where thousands of people were going to see it and judge me on it I would DEFINITELY do this. With a prof make up job and a prof photographer you will be sure to get a photo you are happy with. And with your bones and everything it is bound to be a stunning one
(you do know they only put photos of the good looking authors on the jackets, so you are in there for a start)

have eaten melon, pear, banana, raisins, grapes. 4 portions I reckon. Avi brought me 2 mangoes, let's see if I can avoid them going hideous. If they do I will feel responsible.

FrannyandZooey · 10/03/2008 08:56

they are mad cross buggers on there aren't they? MN would be dreary without some nonsense and some naughtiness

is it me or are we having a spate of people disliking what others like to do on here and trying to stop it?

S1ur · 10/03/2008 10:02

Ooh trying to be good and have fruit for breakfast - mmm might encourage me for the rest of the day.

Yes Franny there does seem to be rather a lot of mn ethos is about being supportive and don't you dare have fun you irreverant women you!

ahundredtimes · 10/03/2008 10:04

Yes, is mad all that. i think I'm missed something otherwise I can't understand what everyone is in such a tizz about.

Franny, thank you for your advice. i agree with you. I suspect this is because we are both over 36 and therefore understand what I'm up against. As opposed to all youthful, charming, au natural veggie eaters. [crone emoticon]. I am going to do that I think.

Right. Am off to do important but unspecified things. I wish it was windier here, it'd be exciting.

lullabyloo · 10/03/2008 11:04

Well..the mad wind & blackness & floods have subsided & we have sunshine & rainbows much to ds's delight.
He is very put out that I didn't venture out to nursery this morning & keeps sighing heavily & telling me what a boring day he will have now...hmmmmmm

100x...tbh I would probably do the same as Franny & have my make up done...but not go with a look totally foreign to me iyswim.I guess a good base is pretty important.

pineapple,strawberries,bananas
vanilla rissotto

no idea what we are having for lunch...dh did the shopping & I keep peering into the fridge & shutting it again...we had our usual row about organic food AGAIN this w/e

ds has been invited to a party at Hamleys
I just looked up parties on their site & at the ridiculous prices.

lullabyloo · 10/03/2008 11:17

scrap that about the sunshine
it's tipping down again

TooTicky · 10/03/2008 11:21

100x, come and stand in our garden if you want wind, we get lots of it. It blows the slides around. I am curious about your unspecified activities. Because you ointedly unspecified them.

TooTicky · 10/03/2008 11:22

Lully, we had sunshine for a bit, then it went dark and lashed.

TooTicky · 10/03/2008 11:29

Oh, now it is sunny. And windy.
