For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

yes - i think i will. for now i will file it at the bottom of a pile of random demanding pieces of papaer.

wish i hadn't mentioned it because is not a worry more an irritation.#

100 tell me about the dog and if ds is better now.

f tell me about baby somersaults and waking upin the night.

ou'est bocoe?

BBBee · 07/03/2008 21:09

f - what is your best bit of bocos film? mine is the football bit.

BBBee · 07/03/2008 21:10

did you cry?

did your heart do that thing where it goes a little bit happy ans sad at the same time?

FrayedKnot · 07/03/2008 21:16

BBBee - I would stay cool about it. I mean if your DS was really passionate about chess - rather than it possibly being an amusing but non-essential part of his life, he wouldn;t forget, would he? Does he need extra "input" in your opinion?

Sorry to hear about the mouse shenanigans. We had a mouse living in our sitting room for about 4 weeks a while ago. The cat brought it in but didn;t kill it so it escaped and took up residence under a bookcase. It was ages before I ntocied it venturing out one night

S1ur · 07/03/2008 23:20

Once again, here I am checking in at too late o'clock. But such is my mn hours.

Franny my lovely, thank you. Do you intend to send a sufficiently polite note, possibly with a chocolate mouse attached asking if they could, well, stop sending the visitors to your place?

  1. I would say why not go for the uni thing. Its only a bit of a laugh. G&T agenda has many pitfalls but one of the good things is visits like that so why not? Whatever you end up deciding I hope it goes well

Okay, so I'm about 6 for 10 today.

tomato, cucumber, (salad-filled pittas)
orange, melon
cabbage (i know! but tis traditional with toad-in-the-hole)
mango

And 10 mins sit up stuff.

feels like a pretty good day really. I am beginning to get overly obsessed with getting extra bits of fruit and veg in there. Still I figure that maybe if I do it for a while it'll begin to become habit...

UnderRated · 07/03/2008 23:42

It does become a habit, Slur. It's a very slippery slope - be careful or before you know it, you'll be sucked in and scoffing F&V without even noticing

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Mine will be dull. And probably far less productive than it needs to be. But I have A List.

UnderRated · 08/03/2008 02:47

Franny, did you see this?

FrannyandZooey · 08/03/2008 08:20

UnderRated, thanks, I didn't see it. What's on your List?

Slur keep up the good work

What happened to Anastasia Beaverdoodah? Or was she just part of cod's challenge to infiltrate a group? I don't think our group should count because we are always very welcoming. The challenge should be 'do something to get ostracised by 10 / 10', that would be more interesting

Bee I didn't cry but parts of it made me want to shrivel up. Like when she was telling Goran about the orgasm and he was trying so hard to be supportive. I think my best bit might have been when he went berserk and chucked her out sorry. Not very life affirming am I?

Zippi sends her love and says she might be back soon.

Where's Tatties?

I have had melon, grapes, banana, raisins. Greeny's family are wearing ds out so much that he has been sleeping really well. No sound from mouse [guilt]

OP posts:
BBBee · 08/03/2008 08:34

does greeny live with you now? she seems to have been there for ages. IS she glamourous and jangly?

I am a premenstraul haridan. I have decided not to tell DP as I am hoping to use these emotions to my advantage to get him to do some things round the house.

Food wise - um - we will have some soup for lunch. Usual saturday town and library and ice cream kind of stuff.

and you?

ou'est bocoe?

FrannyandZooey · 08/03/2008 08:42

good luck with manipulative emotional harridanness

yes Greeny lives here now, in the space next to the boiler. It was her I heard gnawing in the night as I only only fed her on quinoa and mangoes and she was forced to chew her own jewellery

MrsCarrot · 08/03/2008 08:54

I am flying to Edinburgh shortly with ds2 for s few days.

FMV - when do you need trainers by?

Franny - I am hoping ds letter will be finished when I am gone, it keeps growing.

Goodbye

FrannyandZooey · 08/03/2008 08:59

have fun MrsC! what are you going to do?

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 08/03/2008 09:09

I am going to visit my friend and covet her rather grand tenement. She is about to have a baby in it and we are going to try out her birth pool.

We might do something cultural.

I expect we will mostly eat, drink, shop and chat.

I must go, am trying to put together a fun bag for ds on the plane.

Have fun fruityloops.

Ohh MrsC have a lovely time. I have never been to Scotland, a fact that I am rather embarassed by. I have it on my list of places to visit but never seem to quite get there.

Slur you know I used to eat virtually no fruit before joining 10/10. I've always eaten lots of veggies and salad but fruit just never fitted into my day somehow. I still suprise myself sometimes but just going and getting an apple from the fridge instead of making hot buttered toast or something.

Stealth fruit

UR how's your list going? I have mammoth lists atm. To do with parties and Easter, moslty, and broken videos from the library and needing a new toaster.

Does anyone know how far in advance I can make DS' birhtday cake (chocolate sponge)? I am very nervous about it and kind of want to do it tomorrow when I will have plenty of time in case it all goes wrong. party is next saturday. Should I freeze it or will it keep in an airtight box?

FrannyandZooey · 08/03/2008 14:19

oh don't get excited avi [pressured]
it may be crap

OP posts:
TooTicky · 08/03/2008 14:53

FK, you have to make it the day before the big day and you should still be icing it at 10pm. Works every time for me

Hello to everybody

FrannyandZooey · 08/03/2008 16:44

hello TooT

FK I was still icing my son's about half an hour before the party. I agree with TooT, you can't break with tradition on these things

Can I just say Greeny is a model guest. She comes and goes exactly when she is told to and her children, although incredibly loud pleasantly spirited, make hardly any mess. You know those children who have to go in every box and pull every toy out on the floor to see what they all are? Then they go and do it again with your shelves and the book box? Well Greeny's dses are not at all like that. Hoorah.

they are all out at the park and I am cooking tofu

When it's time for a new thread I have an idea for a title.

Having lentil bolognese for tea and had leek and potato soup for lunch. I didn't know what it was until I defrosted it must get better at doing labels!

FrayedKnot · 08/03/2008 18:43

The reality is if I do not make the cake tomorrow I will be making it on Friday and icing it at 10pm

I think it will be OK actually, I'd rather make it then, I just get very twitchy about cakes as I am not very good at them.

Just had veg curry for supper, after a not very fruitandvegetableful day.

Don't like this weather. It is annoyingly wet without being dramatically so.

FrannyandZooey · 08/03/2008 18:50

just coming on to say I have had coleslaw for lunch, roast squash, peppers, mushrooms, hummus, and kidney beans for dinner, and melon, grapes and banana for pudding. Twice.

and did 10 mins cycling to work, 2 hours sports activity with children, then 10 mins cycling home. None of it was very strenuous but it was exercise. I think I need a badge.

oh and montezuma's strawberry and paprika chocolate is really good

UnderRated · 08/03/2008 18:55

Ugh, my list is very dull. It involves cleaning out the cupboards & wardrobe and sortig through things. First I am meant to write my will but it is almost 1pm and I haven't started it. [procrastinating]

Am glad zippi might be back soon. How did greeny train her DSes not destroy everywhere they visit? Tips needed.

Hope Mrs C has fun in Edinburgh. I haven't been there for years.

You can make the cake and freeze it, FK. Just wrap it in greaseproof paper and lots of clingfilm type stuff to make sure it doesn't get freezer burn and dry out. If you are going to sculpt/ shape a cake you have to freeze them. I tend to go for Toot's method though [disorganised]

The List

Write my Will
Orgnize spring party for parenting group
Respond to a million emails & clear out my inbox
Vaccuum
Clean and tidy kitchen
Cook something lentilly for next week.
Plan for my mum's visit (food & activities)

Am intruguied by PSW new title.

TooTicky · 08/03/2008 20:27

Yes pink, what is our title? I keep meaning to say how impressed I am by your exercise btw. The 30 lengths made me and the running is phenomenal.
I only get to "swim" if there is a float session - I lie dd2 on the float, hold on and then my legs get to swim.

TooTicky · 08/03/2008 20:29

your title I mean. We have some sticky buttons. Again.
