For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

The thread always makes me hungry

TooTicky · 13/02/2008 22:46

TooTicky · 13/02/2008 22:46

TooTicky · 13/02/2008 22:55

OverRated · 13/02/2008 22:57

Enjoy it!

ladywombling · 13/02/2008 22:57

Cut cauli into florets approx 1 inch wide at the head. Heat enough oil in a frying pan to be about 4 cm deep, deep fry cauli in batches until light brown on all sides, and still a bit crunchy in the middle. Drain on paper towels/tea towel, spinkle with salt and a little pepper, cover. In a large pan, heat a couple of teaspoons of oil, when hot, add 1/2 tsp of whole cumin seeds, as soon as they change colour (about 10 seconds) add 340g/12oz basmati rice, stir fry for 2 or 3 mins, add water, I would add twice the volume of water to rice, but I don't know qtys for Brown Basmati. bring to boil, add salt, stir and cook, covered. 10 mins before rice is coooked, quickly lay cauli florets ontop of rice, cover and cook for another 10 mins or so, until cauli is heated through. Spoon rice on plate and lay cauli over to serve. Is lovely with lentils

ladywombling · 13/02/2008 22:58

Got to go to bed, night both, hope you had a lovely bath TooT, look after yourself OR.

TooTicky · 13/02/2008 23:17

WOW Wombling, that sounds fabulous! Thank you.

I wish I knew more about Indian cooking. I generally make okay things but I can't master the divine smells.

TooTicky · 13/02/2008 23:24
