For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I still sing Heaven knows I'm miserable now, FMV, and it wasn't really in my shower repertoire before. Too young.

MrsCarrot · 18/02/2008 12:41

and I noticed your kind offer, FMV, thanks. I don't have the CAT thingy yet but I will sort it out.

filthymindedvixen · 18/02/2008 12:42

shall i cat you Mrs C, so you have my email?

filthymindedvixen · 18/02/2008 12:44

ah no, I see you have opted out of being contacted by another talker...well, TooT deffo has my email, as does Tatties, 100, Franny and Wombling...
(I can't post it on here as tis my name IFSWIM)

Overrun · 18/02/2008 12:45

So far a banana, an oj, but am doing a salad to go with my pesto pasta for lunch.
Franny - I had that slightly paranoid feeling last week, as it was half term. I had been focused on sorting out ds1 5th birthday party the week before, and forgot to book some play dates, excursions. By the time I rang people, every one was busy, or so they said.
We did meet up with some of ds1 friends on wednesday, but whilst he was excited to see them, so much so that he wouldn't go into the adventure playground until they arrived, when they did arrive, they ran straight past him

MrsCarrot · 18/02/2008 12:46

have I done that, FMV, where does it say that?

Tatties · 18/02/2008 12:49

Aw poor ds Overrun

FMV would you like me to email MrsC with your email address?

So far I have had OJ, raisins, 2 clementines, blueberries, carrots and hoummous

filthymindedvixen · 18/02/2008 12:49

I get that paranoid thing all the time.
And dses seems to just only want to be friends with 3 children and if they are not available, they have no-one to play with and I worry they will put all their friendship eggs in one basket, as it were and the friends will move away and ...and...

And then I realise i am exactly the same

filthymindedvixen · 18/02/2008 12:50

yes please Tatties (have been playing Smiths all morning, thinking of you and also singing Heaven Knows I'm Vegetable now

Tatties · 18/02/2008 12:55

Oh I do love that song you've set me off now, I think ds is in store for a bit more Smiths indoctrination this afternoon. I love foisting my music tastes on him. We were listening to the Cure yesterday.

Yes to paranoid stuff here too.

Right will email you MrsC

TigerFeet · 18/02/2008 13:08

Oh God, the paranoia...

I console myself with the thought that if dd ends up like me she can always discuss her insecurities on internet fora

Perhaps in a few years' time I could set up an MNalike site for the MN children?

DCsNet - by MN children for MN children

Were you an MN child?

Did your mother pour her heart out to total strangers on the internet?

How did that affect you?

Are you as paranoid as she was?

Would you like to talk to the internet sprites about it?

*

filthymindedvixen · 18/02/2008 13:09

roffle

Ds is already convinced you all know everything

Overrun · 18/02/2008 15:54

God references to Smiths and Cure take me right back. It heart breaking sometimes isn't it? The songs, and dcs socail lives...
FMV I worry about my ds1 putting all his eggs in one basket too. He seems to be the boy in the group who gets picked on, if others in a bad mood, that sort of thing. I wish he would find nicer friends. He is so loyal by nature though, any criticism (and I am pretty careful about what I say) and he says fiercely "but they are my friends"
Speaking of fruit, ds1 put his banana in the front pocket of his knapsack, and now it is all squished

filthymindedvixen · 18/02/2008 16:19

I think it is the emotional responsibility which I find hardest about parenting. It is relatively easy to care of their physical needs, but as a slightly screwed up adult, the thought of having to teach children social skills, emotional intelligence and good mental health is overwhelming sometimes

FrannyandZooey · 18/02/2008 16:31

oooh gosh everyone is being all deep and philosophical

I decided the cure for my ills was to go out and not come back for A Very Long Time
it worked

plus right at the end I met my friend in the park and she is going to be in Casualty in a couple of months, and I thought ah you see I DO know interesting nice people
I am easily pleased

ah bum dp just phoned on his way home, they have closed the station at which he was attempting to catch a train

FrannyandZooey · 18/02/2008 16:32

LOL internet sprites
that was my line and it has gone all the way round MN and come back to me

had veg lasagne for lunch, not much veg in it. Nice though

can not quite shake mild paranoia - ugh

filthymindedvixen · 18/02/2008 16:40

ah, Casualty with a Capital C, rather than an interesting medical condition which neccesitates a trip to hosptal...gotcha!

FrannyandZooey · 18/02/2008 16:43

LOL oh yes sorry

she is going to be big star part psycho woman person

filthymindedvixen · 18/02/2008 17:00

Why did I almost ask you to let me know when she was going to be on? I don't even watch Casulaty. This is stooopid, now I'm getting vicarious star-fuckery frissons over people I don't even know who are friends with someone i met on the internet!

filthymindedvixen · 18/02/2008 17:04

That reminds me, we were wathcing rude tube the other night (don't bother, it's crap) and Dancing Matt was on and I shouted ''oh! Oh! Franny&Zooey knows him! Well, she has emailed him anyway!''

DH looked at me very witheringly...

FrannyandZooey · 18/02/2008 19:08

was Dancing Matt on something being rude?
like, in a GOOD way rude? [hopeful]

I probably WILL tell you when she is on Casualty. I will sadly and mistakenly believe that knowing her confers some glamour to me

FrannyandZooey · 18/02/2008 19:10

have eaten a salad
dp is home at last thank the lord
we have been up since 5.30 am so the joy of togetherness was wearing off slightly for ds and I

a doula is coming round at 8 o'clock. I hope I am still awake. She sounded EXTREMELY LIVELY and enthusiastic on the phone. I was envisaging more serene and wise I must admit

filthymindedvixen · 18/02/2008 19:12

no, he wan't being rude (sadly) it was a crap compilation show about the zillion most favourite virals, of which his was one!

UnderRated · 18/02/2008 19:20

Why sad and paranoid, Franny?

Papillon · 18/02/2008 19:21

....HALLO!!!

still alive

still eating vegetables

the garden is going off

see ya
