hi girls,

no, no problem with the pc or broadband but dh was away to b'ham since yesterday morning so i was taking the opportunity to sort out all the xmas stuff and too tired to even turn pc on! he just got back so we're only just going to have dinner - am staaaarvvving.

i'm glad you're going to get to the bottom of her cough bm, it'll be reassuring no matter what it turns out to be because at least then you will be able to handle it. oh and congrats on your day off, you must have been so chuffed, i think we all were for you Smile

have you had your xmas party at nursery yet fp? ds1 just had it today which was quite early since they don't break up till the 21st.

he's got horrid ulcer/blister type things on his tongue which i was quite alarmed to see as he complained that his tongue hurt yesterday and wouldn't eat this morning so i at first thought that he had bitten himself but then asked to see it and there were about 5 small bubbles on his tongue. am going to take him to gp tomorrow as a friend tells me that hand and foot is going around at the moment at that is one of the symptoms...

apart from that i'm well! dinner's up!

Festivepussy · 09/12/2004 22:33

Partys tommorow Mink. Nervous breakdown here but no fags. Hope to feel better tommorow.

bluemoon · 10/12/2004 07:54

Well done, fp!

Hope the party goes really well Smile

Festivepussy · 10/12/2004 13:55

Went well, there was a bottle or two of wine which me and my friend Sam rattled into :) Someone said...cor I bet your fancy a fag with that and I said actually i dont...BIG RASPERRY!

Festivepussy · 10/12/2004 13:56

For after the party BTW!!!!!

fionagib · 10/12/2004 14:28

poor bm, must be so awful with your dd... at least it's getting looked into properly, and hopefully she'll be given proper treatment & not just the brush off from docs...

poor mm too with your ds's tongue! Ours have all had hand and foot thingie and it wasn't TOO bad... arrggh, aren;t illness a worry & a pain tho - sam is off school today with high temp so gotta be quick here...

girls I promise that there will be NO spewing incidents tonight and no fags either!! dh back to smoking silk cut - in the kitchen as well, grrr, am actually going off the smell which HAS to be a good sign...

Oh and bm, found the books! just gonna check I still have yr address. Well done btw for not cracking re fags - great tactic all that manic marching & huffing and puffing in cold winter air, am gonna try that too next time I feel angsty!
have good w'end all, if I don't manage to get on here... all v v pre xmassy busy as am sure everyone is... hope you enjoyed the wine cc!! I mean Fp!

Festivepussy · 10/12/2004 17:50

Very busy FG...On hiliday now though, going to spend the weekend laying watching dvds:)

bluemoon · 10/12/2004 18:39

Mm, dd had hand, foot and mouth when she was about 10 months old and it wasn't too bad, obvious thing to look out for are the same blisters on hands and feet. BUT when she was about 15 months she had a different viral thing in her mouth and on her lips, tongue etc. and it was quite rough. I think it was called gingivastatis or something like that, a weird word. It went on for a couple fo weeks and she was even more off her food than she is normally Smile. Hope it's not that, just wanted to mention it as it took AGES for the GP to realise that was what it was.

bluemoon · 10/12/2004 18:41

P.s. one of the good things about being Jewish is that Christmas doesn't happen really with my side of the family. We only have to worry about dps!

Festivepussy · 10/12/2004 20:35

Totally clueless about religion...does that mean your dd gets pressies and believes in Santa or not?
Does it cause problems with your dp if hes not jewish?
Hitting the Baileys this evening girls. Early birthday pressie from my mum who thinks if she loads me with alcohol it might keep me off the fagsGrin

JennisaurusUnderTheMistletoe · 10/12/2004 21:04

Hi! SOrry I joined this thread and then buggered off. I am doing ok had about 5 this week which is fine by me Grin hit the roof when I came home to find DH smoking in my kitchen with his head out the window. Grrrrrrrrr.

I hope all your sick babies get better soon, its awful when they are poorly isn't it.

Festivepussy · 10/12/2004 21:26

Well Done Jenni...are you gonna go for the whole quit thing or just have one or two now and then?
I cant do that...I end up having 30-40 a day if I have one!

bluemoon · 10/12/2004 21:33

Fp, I'm not religious and the Jewishness is more in the blood (and the eyebrows) than in anything any of my minute family do. But it does mean we've never taken Christmas as seriously as Christians do, we don't buy gifts or any of that stuff though I usually try to see my mum and ideally my brother. My being Jewish caused bigger problems for dp's family than for mine. Dp's mum is German and has some decidedly dodgy fascist tendencies! Little dd meanwhile will have Christmas with as many trimmings as she wants, even though she's officially a little Jewess as the 'blood' passes through the maternal link rather than the paternal.

What a ramble.

Well done Jenni! I'm very very envious of you if you are one of those lucky people who can smoke and not smoke just because you fancy it. I'm like fp, it's none or 20 for me!

Fg, that's really nice of you. Don't go to any trouble though, especially as your Ds is unwell and you've got a busy weekend.

Festivepussy · 10/12/2004 21:37

Goodness me relationships are hard enough without that sort of shitGrin
Eyebrows...are they joined or very fluffy? Or do you not have any at all?Grin
Glad dd will have all the trimmings, im not at all religious, christmas to me is an excuse to spoil the dds and get them all excited about a big man in a red coat delivering pressies...I know thats not how it all started...but thats how it is now IMO!

JennisaurusUnderTheMistletoe · 10/12/2004 21:39

Honestly my motivation is quite shallow. I don't want to smoke in my own clothes, and I wear a uniform at work, so I can smoke in that then change before I get home. It feels like 2 different worlds.

I definately don't think I am addicted to the nicotine anymore, but do find it relaxing. Honestly I am nut sure how I used to fit in my 30 a day before DD!

Festivepussy · 10/12/2004 21:42

Your lucky, I think speaking for most of us here we could smoke half a fag nude and it would set our brains off onto............must locate next fag mode....and our brains wont shut up till be we have located the next smoke...
I think your quite mad actually!!!

JennisaurusUnderTheMistletoe · 10/12/2004 21:44

I am not mad!! Well maybe a bit!! It just keeps me motivated because I don't want to smell of smoke in my nice clothes.

It is hard though DH is outside having a fag now and I would love one, and I have a packet in my bag, but once I start smoking outside work that will be it. I have very little willpower so have to draw a fine line on it.

Also one of my motivations for giving up was that we both noticed that DDs clothes were smelling of smoke and I don't want that for her.

bluemoon · 10/12/2004 21:46

Oh yes, fp, I totally agree re. the big fat Santa man. Anything that's to do with 'magic' is a must for a child in my book.

My eyebrows ... hmmm have you ever seen the artist Frida Kahlo or the film about her? Try to imagine one long thick black line instead of two separate brows ... I used to wax the middle but never seem to have time now and have grown kind of fond of it.

Jenni, I don't get it. Is it that your clothes smell? Couldn't you get a pair of overalls to wear over your ordinary clothes? Oops ... that sounds like I'm encouraging you to smoke! Grin

Festivepussy · 10/12/2004 21:47

Now if I had fags in my bag...well they would be on the back door step and there wouldnt be any left they would have been smoked by this time on a friday night! Glad not to be out in the cold chuffing away though!

bluemoon · 10/12/2004 21:48

Sorry Jenni, crossed posts. How old's your dd again?

A motivating factor for me was the thought of dd's lungs and also her associating the sight of a fag with her glamorous and beautiful mother Grin who she wants to mimic in every way may in some way encourage her to smoke herself in the future. Can you imagine anything worse than seeing your child smoke?!

Festivepussy · 10/12/2004 21:49

I dont think I can actually Bluemoon...the thought of either of my dds going through this shit is too much.

bluemoon · 10/12/2004 21:50

Me too, fp. I'd be half way through that pack in the space of writing these posts on the thread!

bluemoon · 10/12/2004 21:51

Although I'd make sure I left a couple in the pack for first thing tomorrow morning.

YUCK!!!

I used to smoke first thing in the morning before making a coffee even.

bluemoon · 10/12/2004 21:52

Me too, fp. I'd be half way through that pack in the space of writing these posts on the thread!

JennisaurusUnderTheMistletoe · 10/12/2004 21:54

I KNOW how stupid it is. After I went down to 5 a day I started to really notice the smell and now that I barely smoke and DH still does I really notice it. I don't care if my uniform smells of it, but as I am still trying to convince myself that I am a non smoker it keeps fooling me that as long as I only smoke/smell of smoke at work I am not really smoking.

Oh it makes no sense. Now I feel stupid!

dd is 12mths and we never smoke around her inside
