merryminkmama · 07/12/2004 23:43

night night girls xx

bluemoon · 08/12/2004 10:39

Had an awful night with dd's cough. Have now phoned the GP to go back AGAIN as it shouldn't be going on this long should it? Last night she started at about 1.30am and didn't settle until 4.15!!! AGH!!!!!!! I went to sleep with her in the end as she was so fed up.

BUT, miracle of miracles, dp felt very sorry for me last night and has taken a day off work today to look after dd so I can have a day off Shock, a whole day off Shock Shock. It's my 3rd ever since dd was born. So I've been lounging in the bath for an HOUR and am now going shopping and to see a movie this afternoon.

HURRAYYYYYYYYYYYY !!!!!!!!

May even buy some fags to celebrate Grin

Not ...

fionagib · 08/12/2004 11:18

hurrah for your day off bm!! God you deserve it! Hope you're enjoying every minute. Please please don't be so hard on yourself re not being good enough and cracking with the fags.... none of it is easy, looking after children or resisting the niccy, but you can do it - you will do it, are you gonna set yourself a new quit date????

I'm a libra, read the horos occasionally but don't really believe...

nah, mink, am not running, just 'thinking' about it - also girls have a confessions to make - went on my only xmas night out last night and got smashed in pub, came home and... er... was sick in the shower. Am deeply ashamed. BUT!!!! I didn't smoke!! so a mixture of Blush and Grin

am trying and trying to work (dd is at nursery) with little success. Would go to bed but joiner is here putting up shelves so am too embarrassed.

So it's official - I really am disgusting.

Festivepussy · 08/12/2004 19:45

Hope you didnt buy those fags Blue Moon...and congratulations on getting some PEACE!!!!!!!!!!! And hopefully a nap!!
Fiona...you are a disgrace thats is revolting...but as you didnt smoke your forgivenGrin
Well Done...that is a big milestone passed for you isnt it?
Mink, my brother, thanks to my mum, got a place in a homeless hostel place, but plush carpet, central heating, 3 meals a day type place where he is enjoying right now, they also provide support and have got him a gp and a prescription for his pills...which he is taking for the first time in 11 years(!!!!!)
So its nice not opening the door to a freezing cold draught and thinking OMG It is Freezing, where is he, whats he up to...last winter he had frostbite on his face like the blokes who do the mad winter expeditions in the artic getSad
Havent had too many fag thoughts today...gonna have a stiff voddy though...again...
DD1s moved up a swimming class to the BIG pool from the little one...Proud Mummy momentSmile

fionagib · 08/12/2004 20:21

I know, cc, I know!! I will never drink again... or at least not till friday.

good news about your brother, must be a massive relief... and congrats to your dd1!!!!!

dh back on 'real' ciggies, bah...

hope everyone else had good day and isn't too disgusted with my vile behaviour.

bluemoon · 08/12/2004 21:15

FG, well, to be honest it's better to puke in the shower than smoke a tab in my book! Nevertheless it is still a little big revolting ... Grin

Well I spent the day on Oxford Street which wasn't exactly relaxing but I did buy myself a bargain winter coat. Then I saw 'Birth' in Leicester Square. Did anyone else see that film? It had an odd effect on me. And then I met dp and dd in Trafalgar Square to see the Christmas tree there. So it's been very full and active but a really good mental rest from the usual stresses and strains and boredoms and frustrations etc.

Fp, that's such good news re your db. I don't know the whole story but I'm guessing he was homeless for a while?

Festivepussy · 08/12/2004 21:50

Sounds lovely BM really does. Wish I could do the same, havent saw Birth...what is it? Or is it blatantly obvious?!!
My db is schizophrenic and has been homeless for 4 years and this is the first time in those years hes been prepared to sign forms, go to meeting etc which you need to do to get unhomeless IYKWIM...its much better although I know this is just a temporary thing, hes like a yo yo.
But at least hes warm this winter

Festivepussy · 08/12/2004 21:52

BM keep an eye on \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=138&threadid=47920\this} thread ...my dd has developed a cough, shes coughing every 3 mins or soShock

Festivepussy · 08/12/2004 22:03

Oh yes and one more thing, mums friend has a friend who is going into hospital to have half of her tongue removed. She has cancer of the tongue...found this out last week as she woke up in a pile of blood after her ulcer in her mouth exploded...ewwwww....
And she cant eat proper food as her mouths a mess but she is of course...still smoking.
That is why we are all stopping smoking girls. The knowledge that you have inflicted that sort of shit on your own life and you still cant stop.
Excuse me here but Fuck That.

bluemoon · 08/12/2004 22:23

Thanks fp, I've added a note to that cough thread.

Yrg ... cancer of the tongue ... you're right, we can't go back can we???

I'm off to crash now. Very very tired ...

Festivepussy · 08/12/2004 23:15

Bet you are...Dont know about the ashtmatic bit and laying down but when I had pluracy I coughed more when I was laying down because the fluid was drowning my lungs.....AAARRRRGGGHHHH could you stuff 2 pilows under your dds mattress if shes in a cot or a couple of phone directorys under the the bed legs?
Night for nowxxx

bluemoon · 09/12/2004 13:59

... Last night ... dd coughed from 12.30-3am!!!!! I couldn't get her a GP appointment this morning but am going to barge in there this afternoon. It CAN'T be croup now after 2.5 weeks? She's got no fever, she's low in energy (but I think that's because she can't breathe properly) and coughing all the time when she lies down (she's napping now and coughs every 15-20 mins or so). When she tries to run around or something like that she gets sweaty and exhausted. This can't be right can it? I'm so tired and so worried I can't even think about it straight now.

bluemoon · 09/12/2004 14:01

Yeah, fp, she's got 2 huge encyclopedias under her cot legs to lift it up. We've got the humidifier. I'm using Mink's oils. I don't know what else to do!!!!!

Festivepussy · 09/12/2004 15:43

Sounds scarily like my pluracy:( I hope you got her seen to today. In fact I hope your at the Xray department right now.
Poor you and poor her.
Hows the smoking not smoking going?
has Mink disapeered again? New pc for xmas i think!!!

bluemoon · 09/12/2004 18:29

It's not pleurisy, fp, I had that too aged 17 and the GP can hear that quite clearly on the lungs. It seems that there may well be some asthma. I think she's had it for ages as she's had 2 attacks in the past and dp and I both have it (thus another reason that made smoking so pathetic for us Sad) and have done since we were babies. Anyway GP (decent one this time!) agrees it's not straightforward and is sending us to the chest clinic asap.

Phew ...

But I'm still worried and NOT looking forward to tonight.

Haven't smoked a puff but am very very very desperate ...

Festivepussy · 09/12/2004 18:33

I was too earlier..I ran round the house like a loony tidying up and have achieved loads. I was in a FOUL mood. Glad shes gonna get looked at...dp not thinking of stopping?

bluemoon · 09/12/2004 20:29

fp, dp's never been a nicotine 'addict' like I was / am. He's always been the type who can have 10 during a night's drinking and then not smoke again for a fortnight. I SO envy him for that. BUT he does smoke at least 2 joints a day, mostly with herbal tobacco since I've given up fags.

I've been feeling such cravings today it's agonising! I've kept myself busy too, took dd to her favourite library and tried to walk very quickly pushing the buggy and breathing the cold air. I sometimes find exercising my lungs manically slightly eases the itch for nicotine ...

And how's everyone else doing? I feel like I'm being totally self-centred here at the moment with dd and her cough. Distract me ... go on! Smile
