3 weeks.Thats marvellous.
I wonder how long if ever our lungs will be clean ?

fawkeoff · 01/11/2007 15:01

i think its about 10 years before our lungs are properly replenished. i have started coughing a lot more so im assuming thats the bodys way of getting the gunk out.I really wish i had stopped and thought about what i was actually doing when i was younger.all to be part of the crowd, but at least my DC will have a better chance of being non smokers if they have parents that dont

You wont balls it up-do they smoke ?
If they do just feel sorry for them because they have to feed the monster and dont even enjoy it !
You wont be having nicotine withdrawal by now but just sometimes miss relieving the withdrawal !
Deep breaths
You are an ex smoker !!!!!!!!! x

Hi all. I stopped in April after smoking 10-20 a day for 16 yrs. It's been nearly 7 months now and it has got miles and miles easier (although still have the odd craving when I drink). You can do it!

fawkeoff · 04/11/2007 19:59

thanks for the encouragement LOVEANGEL . have had a really good weekend with the family, took DD into town to watch the xmas parade, she loved it and saw the reindeers and father xmas, then we came home and baked american muffins together, then went to church.I hadnt been to church for yonks and she enjoyed it.today she has been to a dora the explorer themed party and we have done fireworks this evening and i have to say hand on heart had i been smoking and gone out and got drunk i wouldnt have done any of these things this weekend, so it is actually benefitting me and my family in many more ways if thats not a good reason to stay stopped i dont know what is.

harleyd · 19/11/2007 12:09

i had my last one last night
am feeling ok sofar
time will tell

Tortington · 19/11/2007 12:14

congrats harley- are you going cold turkey?

harleyd · 19/11/2007 12:17

yeah cold turkey.
i have been able to do it before, when i was pregnant, but that was the only reason i quit. i always went back on them afterwards.
im doing a lot of coughing today, which i didnt expect so soon!

harleyd · 19/11/2007 12:17

how are you feeling with it?

Tortington · 19/11/2007 12:27

i have given up loads of times but although i had decided to have my last fag last night - this morning i didn't feel as commited - so i went and bought some patches

ihave previously revelled inthe fact that nicotine is out of your body in 48 hours and its will power from there - not addiction - but its not worked for me in the past.
the last tiem i used patches i stopped for a year.

now the law has changed and everyone i know is a non smoker. apart from dh - who i have told willhave to smoke in back garden!

here is good luck to us

harleyd · 19/11/2007 12:29

everybody i know doesnt smoke now either
i was in the bar last night and i was the only person who kept going outside
so i thought i would give it a go
good luck to us!
keep letting me know how you're doing, it might keep me on the right track

Tortington · 19/11/2007 12:31
