For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Umm - right - soup which is probably 2 portions, to err on the side of caution, big handful of grapes and portion of melon. Will add all up later. Have no idea what we're having for dinner, but suspect it will involve courgettes.

at puppydog icing

I have eaten kidney beans and a whole bunch of asparagus. My evil twin Bad Franny made me do it.

Also tinned pineapple. Mmmm.

Excellent, F&Z, I'll be sure to let Dh know about the washing up, I'm sure he won't have consumed anything remotely approaching f&v at work anyway, so he'll deserve it.
Just had a look at the famous cake, Habbibu. Wow!!
Am off to make myself a banana and kiwi smoothie and nurse my flu in bed while dcs are at school.

Ok, butter and loads of torn up sage leaves then- that might save you from the pit!

MegaLegs · 18/10/2007 14:08

Wow you were right, she's scarey in that hat!!

That cake is fab hab!

Have had banana and raisins in my porridge, dried mango, pear (although DS4 nicked most of it), homemade pumpkin soup and loads of celery.

Also ate some nettle tips at parents' tour of the celtic roundhouse project at my boys' school this morning. Yummy and more vits than spinach apparently.

About to embark on bikes to park so that'll cover the exercise.

Will report back later and endeavour to keep it up, suh

oh theres a new thread I've had a banana today

fullmoonfiend · 18/10/2007 17:19

F&Z - it'll keep for a couple of months, as long as in a cool dark place. Like cordial.

fullmoonfiend · 18/10/2007 17:20

Tatties - when is full moon? I feel very pre-menstrual....

fullmoonfiend · 18/10/2007 17:23

no, puppydog icing is just a black and white puppy made from icing, to sit atop the giant bone (which is swiss rolls and muffins covered in white icing. Am tyoying with the idea of some tiny puppy dog poos made from brown icing. Ds would love that

fullmoonfiend · 18/10/2007 17:23

oh lordy, I'm talking to myself now..

FrayedKnot · 18/10/2007 17:29

Falls through door with list of consumption as too tired to actually remember what I have eaten today (or am about to)

Blueberries 1
Peach 1
Dried fruit mix 1
Cucumber 1
Carrot 1
Lentil Shepherds Pie with Celeriac & Potato Mash - 3
Broccoli - 1

So just need fruit for pud and have done it

Not sure where exercise is going to fit in

have been up since 5.30 with DS (DH away)

Will do press ups while DS is in bath (raucous laughter)

zippitippitoes · 18/10/2007 17:32

lol at tiny puppy dog poos

Boco · 18/10/2007 17:45

Well i've been locked out of my house all day. I went for lunch with friend, and ate a salad of tomato and avocado and lettuce and had quiche. But then nothing else to eat all day, so doing badly.

I'm tired and i have a headache and the girls are still ill, dd1 sobbed at school and dd2 is fast asleep so i'm just going to stay here.

FrayedKnot · 18/10/2007 17:51

NB DS does not normally wake up at 5.30.

Usually about 7ish.

This was a cruel trick because DH is away and would probably have got up with him (since he gets up earlier than me anyway), but instead I was building a lego zoo at 5.45

Boco eat some fruit, then drink a huge glass of water - it might help the headache

Do you mean you were accidentally locked out?

ahundredtimes · 18/10/2007 18:04
zippitippitoes · 18/10/2007 18:08

i'm wondering whether to eat anything before i go out later

fullmoonfiend · 18/10/2007 18:17
Boco · 18/10/2007 18:18

FK yes to that question before about the wandering about town - you were right. I forgot my key this morning when taking dd to school, and dp couldn't come home until 5.30 this evening.

I know this isn't the place for this and everyone is doing very well with their veg - I dropped dd at school crying, i went to assembly where i watched her silently sob all through a very tedious assembly, then cry all the way back to her classroom. I asked if i could go and check on her, where she clung onto me wailing 'don't leave me here!!' Wasn't good. Teacher was abrupt and brisk about it all, dd did that clinging and wailing. She's never ever ever done that before - even in nursery. Felt a bit churned all day - and was expecting a breezy teacher to say that she perked right up, but the teacher said she'd been withdrawn and silent all day and looks awful and would i keep her home tomorrow as actually she should be at home. We just had a chat and she said she just needed me and i didn't listen or believe her how much.

100 let me share that mars bar. And can i also have vodka with it.

ahundredtimes · 18/10/2007 18:21

Oh Boco. How grim. Is she still ill do you think? Is that why the teacher thought she should be at home?

Boco · 18/10/2007 18:32

I think so. She doesn't feel ill she says, but she looks it - very pale with red circles around her eyes and looks a bit blotchy and odd. Very tearful and quiet. She can have the day off tomorrow and then it's half term.

ahundredtimes · 18/10/2007 18:35

Oh yes, good. It's an upsetting story though. Does she hate school in quite a profound way do you think?

IdrisTheDragon · 18/10/2007 18:36

Hello. Well, I survived the boring course. And I had fruit salad, lots of vegetables at lunch, and some salad and more fruit at lunch as well.

And I know there is a full veg box at home and a DH who will hopefully make nice food with it, so I think I am OK on bootcamp status.

Train goes in 8 minutes .
