For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

It's hard when only one parent speaks a different language to the country you're living in. We find it hard to keep our English unpolluted by German sentence construction and we are both English speakers!

3andnomore · 26/09/2007 18:51

lol Franny...you see though....apparently when I speak I don't have a german accent...people tend to think I am either south african, ozzie/kiwi or dutch, they never think german
appanrelty I am not typical german...whatever that is, lol!

And [childish nanananana emoticon] as I am allowed to sit next to Miss and have the great honour to sharpen her pencils [tongue stick out emoticon]

3andnomore · 26/09/2007 18:53

lol Sauerkraut...I think for us it would have been so much easier if dh stayed posted in Germany...because we would have lived within a english community...but in germany...but hohum..no point pondering the what and if's, eh

lionheart · 26/09/2007 18:55

humph.

FrannyandZooey · 26/09/2007 18:56

what's up lionheart?

(I really wanted to type 'what's new pussycat' there, but just about restrained myself)

Hello all,

Boco - wow, fab news! Let us know how the exhibition is goes won't you?

Lol 100, that you've never read the OP. Have to admit i forget the exercise bit most of the time. Although today have walked to shops and laygroup and back with DD on shoulders and DS in pram.

SK - Hurrah for the doctor, that is such good news for DD

lionheart · 26/09/2007 19:00

I wanted to sharpen the pencils and I bet you have one of those whirly machines on your desk.

And I did suggest FIREWALKING as exercise/business op.

FrannyandZooey · 26/09/2007 19:02

Oh

I am impressed by the firewalking, although I was sad recently to hear that it is all a con and you just have to walk fast and the soles of your feet disperse all the heat somehow

would you like to be flower monitor?

SauerKraut · 26/09/2007 19:02

Well, now, I prefer picking all the dried glue off the glue spreaders.Beats a whirly pencil sharpener any day.
Hi, Wombling.

BBBee · 26/09/2007 19:03

why are you 'humphing' LH?

lionheart · 26/09/2007 19:03

Please.

Psst--how did you think they did it if not by walking quite quickly and standing in water beforehand?

lionheart · 26/09/2007 19:04

Pencil fetish, BBB. It will pass.

FrannyandZooey · 26/09/2007 19:04

oh dear is it wrong to find this funny?

OP posts:
TooTicky · 26/09/2007 19:05

I walk at least 4 miles every school day

SK - that's wonderful!

Well done Boco!

I have a rather worrying bus crisis.

FrannyandZooey · 26/09/2007 19:05

I thought they did it by mentally transcending prosaic things such as burning coals

I really did

OP posts:
SauerKraut · 26/09/2007 19:06

Nice one

SauerKraut · 26/09/2007 19:06

Hi, TT. What's your bus crisis?

BBBee · 26/09/2007 19:07

I walk a mile and half doing school run etc. and am quite active through the day - can that count?

Boco - YEHAY! that's so great - where is the exhibtion or don't you want to say? I will hang out by your picture talking very loudly and saying how wonderful it is.

I met Korky Paul at last the Oxford literature festival and he is so lovely - he will do drawings with your children if you take them. He is a peach.

I bought new boots and want to show you but can;t find a picture.

As LH says 'humph.'

lionheart · 26/09/2007 19:08

Not wrong, not wrong at all, I'm pretty sure.

TooTicky · 26/09/2007 19:09

Community bus is double booked for Saturday. Not my fault, but if I can't sort it out, it will seem as though it is. I need a bus.

lionheart · 26/09/2007 19:10

Why do you need the bus TooT?

TooTicky · 26/09/2007 19:12

Because the booking I took and the booking which seemed to appear from nowhere overlap by an hour.

Are you meant to be doing something exciting on Saturday, TT?
