For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

BBB, sure apple pie counts. There will be lots of fruit in it. Put some dried fruit, and less sugar in it, if you want to make it healthier. Or use dessert apples rather than cookers, then you don't need any sugar.

I am glad my cunting prodded mango lives on in people's memories I am just about to start another thread about one of my mother's more annoying habits - so cathartic

I found Deborah Jackson a little like that in the bed one, I felt guilty for putting DD down.

I'd forgotten about the cunting part of the mango anecdote

haha LL - no I was just having a moan about IKEA and stuff. I have had a really nasty insect bite on my leg and have taken loads of piriton and I think it made me odd and down.

As for summerising the past week - well I think we had a talk/fight about thread titles and MrsC came back from Edinburgh and was Guadalopeopoe for a while - oh and FMV has won a mumsnet trip to London in a poncey hotel - I think it is Claridges and she is going to be naked apart from a purple hat, well so we advised.

Franny mentioned a bulk cooking document she had written adn we all asked for it

Boco has gone for a weekend away with her DP but 100 seems intent on her pulling a waiter.

avi is doing a course but keeps popping up and then going again.

oh god lots of other stuff that the brain fug cannot seperate out but has all been nice.

I liked deborah jackson book too but the pictuer on the front cover was misleading and I kept wondering why she didn;t object. Beat the pants of controlled crying IMO!

LL - I know someone with Lymphodemia and she has to wear the stockings etc. She found that people in this country don't seem to really know as much about it as they should - she visits a hospice to get her legs wrapped and to have the proper massages.
She was put in contact with an amazing clinic in Austria, who are incredibly hot on all this. They are apparantly the best place in Europe. Would you like me to ask her for the name? She's also very into alternative therapies and remedies. I will pick her brain for you.

I am sorry though. It's horrible news.

LL it all sounds terribly worrying for you. I'm glad they are sending you up to see someone in London. I would like to say again if there is anything I can do to help out (being not too far away), at any time, please let me know.

Well I'm trying to perk myslef up and get back on track, today I have had cereal with dried fruit, 2 apples, grapes, tomatoes, sweet potato, carrots, courgettes.

We went to a big woodland place today which has lots of play areas for children and we walked a bit, but not very far beca\use we were all rather tired.

I REALLY htink we need a nice cheery uppy thread title now.

LL, I am so sorry to hear the diagnosis, although very glad that it is 'benign'. I wish there was something practical I could do for you but i live too far away. On a positive note, having gone private presumably to get the MRI scans as fast as you could (and thank goodness it was speedy), now it will be on the NHS? Just wondering if you can buy in help with cleaning/ironing etc as it is exhausting enough even when you're on top form to look after a toddler, let alone the rest of the home. I'm sure your friends would help out but if you'd rather not ask them, the a good cleaning lady is a blessing indeed. i just wish I could come round and make you a herbal tea and give you an aromatherapy hand massage to cheer you up. Anyway, I send both 'virtually', with hugs.

No....not on NHS unfortunately
Hand massage sounds wonderful

two questions...does anyone know where to buy apple or pear concentrate? My new book seems to rely quite heavily on the stuff & I cant find it anywhere
Secondly....does anyone or has anyone ever used ocado?
Is it possible to order & pay for stuff & have it delivered to someone else?
If so..how far in advance would I have to order it?

NotReallyHerePossum · 02/09/2007 20:25

yes, who has been mean to Franny? I'm brandishing one humdinger of a marrow here and would be delighted to land it over someone's head

BBBee · 02/09/2007 20:28

LL
yes you can get it eliverd to another address.

Apple and Pear concerntrate (if it is what I am thinkng of) is avliable in health food shops like holland and barret and it looks like marmite and you can spread it on bread nad use it use it in cooking.

I've used Ocado before LL.

I am fairly sure you can order & have delivered to a different address. You have to book delivery slots, and IME you can usually have a delivery within a day or two, but it depends on the time of day, also. Popular slots get booked more quickly, iyswim.
