For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Franny there was a thread started about you?

MrsCarrot · 02/09/2007 22:01

Boco - Did you have fun? Was the barman dodgy? I can't imagine a weekend away at the moment, sounds like heaven.

FrannyandZooey · 02/09/2007 22:05

No, no, not so fast. Let us pause and reflect upon the wonders of the English language and the pleasures to which it gives rise.

Boco · 02/09/2007 22:11

I had great fun MrsC. The barmen were all about 12 and french. When we arrived there was a laminated picture of that bulky suited lady and the pouncy barman - on the reception desk, and i started giggling and trying to explain to dp, which obviously he didn't understand at all. And then we were upgraded.

Nearly ate at a very wholefoody place at neils yard, were sitting ready to order when dp leapt up and said, 'christ! i can't stand this world music, it's just really getting on my tits, can we just go!'. So we had to leave.

Went to friends amazing brand new loft style apartment - all minimalist and empty - and couldn't believe it - clear uncluttered empty spaces! Come home to my cluttered cottage and feel a little bit envious.

Went to an exhibition about the human heart at the wellcome trust that friend curated which was good, and to the portrait gallery to see bp award - which i love every year. portraits are the best, they always make me cry.

Had afternoon naps! That was the best bit.

Doesn't anyone think in gourd we trust is good? [needy]

Tatties · 02/09/2007 22:13

Sorry sorry you know I'm not with it...

Anyway moving on. Tonight I've had two plums and a clementine. Earlier I had kidney bean and potato curry (again - we have an abundance of potatoes atm) God that's rubbish isn't it? Oh yes I had nutty seedy porridge for breakfast, which doesn't count but is good anyway, and a banana. And lots of walking up hills in the rain. I think I need to go to he gym tomorrow.

Tatties · 02/09/2007 22:14

Sounds like you had a great weekend Boco

lionheart · 02/09/2007 22:16

In gourd we trust is good and so is the Green Gables one. Both quite prim, too.

NotReallyHerePossum · 02/09/2007 22:17

afternoon 'naps' Boco?

NotReallyHerePossum · 02/09/2007 22:18

that looks a bit severe and disapproving, I meant 'naps'

MrsCarrot · 02/09/2007 22:19

LOLOL at your dp, Boco, that's just what mine would like to say but doesn't, usually. He just says please can we go somewhere with Meeeat.

I quite like In Gourd We Trust, but the mango has great laughter value now. No-one liked my Jennifer Rush one either. It was quite bad though.

Boco · 02/09/2007 22:20

Yes, naps.

Nothing more than actual blissful naps. Where you get into bed at 4pm and sleep for an hour. And no one jumps on your head or puts their fingers up your nose or screams at you or hits you with a plastic pig until you agree to find raisins.

Wow, i can hardly believed it happened now, it's like some wonderful dream.

NotReallyHerePossum · 02/09/2007 22:21

the silently cunting mange gets my vote

NotReallyHerePossum · 02/09/2007 22:23

oh fooey, I mean mangO,

actually Boco, an honest to goodness undisturbed nap is something I can't recall nor even imagine anymore, it's like an arcadian dream

MrsCarrot · 02/09/2007 22:25

"silently cunting mange " It gets worse...

womblingalong · 02/09/2007 22:27

LL what horrid, horrid news, although at least you have a diagnosis, and can start to manage your condition as best you can. I hope that the info that 10/10ers have posted will be of some help.

Ocado will deliver to another address and are fab, I have just started to use and it is so lovely getting nice stuff without having to trawl a Supermarket with two DC's in tow.

I vote for the mango, cunting or otherwise, altho can we have Anne of Green Gages another time?

Boco · 02/09/2007 22:32

pmsl - silently cunting mange! What has happened to this thread, it used to be about fennel seeds and purple sprouting broccoli, and now look - jesus, cunting mange, that sounds serious and would need very strong antibiotics.

MrsCarrot · 02/09/2007 22:36

Purple sprouting is out of season now, Boco. Autumn is coming, and we are all excitable.

Boco · 02/09/2007 22:37

Ahh, of course. It's cunting mange season.

BBBee · 02/09/2007 22:42

I imagine you saying that dressing in hunkting equipment with bright red pilstick and a brandy in your hand and a labrdor caleed roger

"Well Henry - chin up it is cunting mange season - what what!"

BBBee · 02/09/2007 22:44

was it divine boco?
did you eat lovely food and do that thing where you actually finish a conversation without someone interrupting and making you lose you train of thought?

Was it scary to feel maternal towards the barman rather than fancy him?

Oh I am jealous - it sounds lovely - much better than camping in Norfolk - what what!

MrsCarrot · 02/09/2007 22:47

what's with all the what whats, Bbbee?

BBBee · 02/09/2007 22:51

I am trying to sound like a posh lady going hunting - 'tis not working I guess - what what? no?

MrsCarrot · 02/09/2007 22:53

er, yes, of course, I know exactly what you mean

BBBee · 02/09/2007 22:55

see there is a character in ds's bedtime book and it sounds really great with him - hamg on...

..."Nothing too grand, y'know; just somethig for our poor wounded teeth to nibble on. Got to keep a body and fur together, what, what!"
