For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

It's not boring, avi, it's important.

No kicking but will manage a gentle nudge.

Hello .

After last night's near embarassment, was a little worried about posting again but feel safe now it is September.

September is a very good month. DD and I like it a lot indeed - me in 7 days time and she in 19 days time.

MrsC, I misread your losing weight message and thought you said you had "only" lost 101 lbs. Had to read it again and was glad I was wrong.

The boy and girl toy and other things like that question is interesting. Having DS and DD I am finding that there are some differences between them. Will ponder that one some more.

I am being bad and carbohydrateful. I blame it on my period having started.

DS and DD have just poured dupo everywhere. Should probably supervise. And all of us get dressed. DH is being superdad today, having (a) got up with DD in the night (b) got up this morning and let me have a lie-in and (c) has gone out to get new tyres for one car and the locking wheel nuts (I think) for the other car which may have a puncture.

I can waffle on a lot when I get going .

filthymindedvixen · 01/09/2007 10:39

morning everyone! I do hope my descent into the darker side of my soul didn't frighten you into choosing my thread title

Next title should be Go Man Go! in honour of F&Z's passion for that fruit
Or Attack of the 50ft Mango....? Or The Invisible Mango sounds suitably surreal for these threads

Anyhoooo, PMT is over and I am infused with energy. After my brunchy tomatoes and mushrooms on toast I am allotment bound and some freecycle peopl eare coming to collect rhubarb plants and gooseberry bushes. I love the smug yet munificent feelings which freecycle gives. Does anyone know if I am allowed to ask for a person on Freecycle? I want a partner in grime for the allotment as I will be working 4 days a week in september and worry I may struggle by myself.

filthymindedvixen · 01/09/2007 10:40

oh and I could write an essay on the whole boy/girl toy thing...

Overrun · 01/09/2007 13:43

To those of you who remember me I am now officially back. Just got online again today, only took us since May to get it sorted, I wont mention the service provider who messed us around big time, but grrr
Anyway, I love the title btw. I will share my fruit and veg portions later but couldn't resist a quick hi and a gander at the site before lunch

MrsCarrot · 01/09/2007 14:16

Hello, Overrun, I think Franny has mentioned you quite a lot. It drives me mad when my interenet connection goes for a bit so I you must have been furious.

I've had raspberry/blueberry porridge with crunchy seedy bits, extra strawberries. Vegi sushi with salad, green beans peppers. Acerola cherry and blackcurrant smoothie, two voctoria plums.

We are going to Stiffkey now for Samphire and the sun's out.

Overrun · 01/09/2007 14:30

MrsCarrot you have brought a tear to my eye, I have been mentioned gosh.
I think once you have got into internet mode, you feel bereft when you don't have it iyswim
As for my portions (yours sound very impressive btw) so far, 1 banana, 1 apple, 1 tomato, dried fruit, a carrot and some orange juice.

IdrisTheDragon · 01/09/2007 14:41

I am about to have some avacado.

Tatties · 01/09/2007 14:47

OVERRUN!!! How are you? Good to see you back

Overrun · 01/09/2007 14:48

Hi Tatties,
I am fine. The move went well and we are all settled in our new home. I have had a really good summer holiday with them, after dreading it so much, now I am dreading the new term lol
What about yourself?

filthymindedvixen · 01/09/2007 14:49

Hi Overrun, great to see you back!

Overrun · 01/09/2007 14:53

thanks Filthy. Hope you are well.
Have I missed anything of any importance or interest on the site? Shameless request for gossip I guess

Tatties · 01/09/2007 14:55

I'm fine Overrun. I joined a gym!

Overrun · 01/09/2007 14:57

Very impressive. I have lots of exercise plans for September when dts will be in nursery and ds1 in school. Although I am worried that because dts are not potty trained yet, and I will be required to go back and change them if they have a dirty nappy, that this might cramp my style a bit

lionheart · 01/09/2007 17:08

Hello Overrun, am whizzing in and out today because school starts on Monday and I am just not ready.

Overrun · 01/09/2007 18:00

Hi Lionheart,
ds1 starts school for the first time on thursday. I have mixed feelings about it, but he seems to be looking forward to it

lionheart · 01/09/2007 18:06

It's a bittersweet thing, isn't it?

Overrun · 01/09/2007 19:14

Certainly is , I am afraid that I have decided to go for a take away tonight so sorry I am not doing too well on the fruit and veg front, but tomorrow is another day as they say.
Did do some pilates earlier though

pinkspottywellies · 01/09/2007 19:18

Hello!
Only had salad (2) and kiwi (.5) today. Been eating badly last few days but picked blackberries on Thursday (yum) my sister wouldn't eat any until they'd been washed and put in a plastic punnet!! I think it was quite a shock to her that blackberries aren't made in a factory! She also let dd have a bite of a cooking apple off the tree when she babysat on Wed which was my last day at the sweet shop (for a while anyway)
I've hardly been on for a week and haven't had time to catch up much. I've kind of missed you all!

3andnomore · 01/09/2007 19:35

Huhu...not read yet, but will do soon....anywya, been away, been rubbish foodwide especially f&v wise, and can see and feel it round my waistline, sigh....
back to normal on monday...
Franny, emailed you about meet up....

BBBee · 01/09/2007 19:57

oh god!

hello everyone - hi overrun.

I have had a bollocks day - foodwise, day wise, ikea wise - everything.

Is it the thread title I wonder?

Tell me you have all had wonderful healthy days packed with fun before I descend into a pit of gloom.

FrayedKnot · 01/09/2007 19:59
