For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

No, it's a bath full of water, dd had her clarify that point, she said 'but your clothes would be all wet!' and the little girl said 'yes, mummy takes my wet clothes off afterwards'.

I still feel really odd and blurry and queasy. I'm still never drinking again. The children have made the sitting room into some kind of hospital, using all the duvets and pillows and blankets. I'm meekly surveying the mess and shrugging.

FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2007 14:42

Yes sorry again, just being sulky and over-sensitive

she has actually left now but her legacy lives on in my head

arse

FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2007 14:42

Poor Boco

I would not just ignore it about the bath

I mean I wouldn't be phoning SS either, but I wouldn't forget about it

OP posts:
BBBee · 20/08/2007 14:44

god - I think I might be tempted to allude to it in a joke then.

MrsCarrot · 20/08/2007 15:50

Sorry you're feeling bad, Franny, no-one seems to make us feel crap like our parents for one reason or another, I very much doubt the criticisms are actually any fault of yours are they? Some people can never be pleased. Oh, and Lionhart was right, I love bootcamp.

Boco - that has made me feel a bit strange too. I think I would have to say something, even jokily, 'oh, they've been talking ALL afternoon about going in the bath with clothes on, MY dd is quite fascinated by it, they are funny aren't they' etc etc, and see what she says. There could be a normal ISH adult version of what happened but if that's regular punishment then it's very peculiar. Seems like a form of humiliation which is never good. Oh dear, poor you, probably the last thing you feel like today. Can you have lots of bitter things for your liver?

SaggyPossum · 20/08/2007 16:02

Franny, sympathy on the mother front. IME the problem is never actually with the real-life, here and now mother, it's the mother in your head, the one from when you were small and they seem huge and were the centre of the universe and one's only means of survival hence what they said mattered, totally. It is hard. I feel like I've had the 'flu after my mother departs from a visit. Be kind to yourself and surround yourself with people who think highly of you, like us
Your DS looks like such a wonderful little boy, so inquisitive and happy, whatever you say to the contrary, your fab mothering shines out in the photos of him. He seems, from pictures, to be a little person who is happy in his own skin. (photos of me at that age = worried and tense four year old). So at least you haven't passed on the bad mother vibe through the generations. That's a major achievement to celebrate. I know. Have some cake Sorry, bootcamp, er, 50 sit ups and THEN some cake!

MrsCarrot · 20/08/2007 16:07

Possum - meant to say LO hasn't had his vaccinations either. The others did but with his allergies my instinct is to wait at the very least. The doctors are very displeased with this decision of course.

FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2007 16:09

Oooh, you are all kind

ds and I are rattling round the house getting on each others nerves

Had hummus, lettuce, red pepper, cucumber, tomatoes and beetroot for lunch - probably about 3 portions

just having banana and peanut butter on oatcakes yummmmmmmm

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 20/08/2007 16:13

I love oatcakes. I recently discovered the fruit ones too, trouble is they come in a pack of five and you can't leave them to go stae now can you?

Lunch was sushi, salad and grapes with banana, raspberry and redcurrant smoothie. Very tart! Any ideas what to do with the rest of the pot of redcurrants?

TooTicky · 20/08/2007 16:14

Oh Franny I do like boot camp honest. Here, have another shiny apple and shout at me if it helps
Look, you are thoroughly lovely. It shines out of your posts - even the slightly scary ones You are a wonderful parent and your mother is talking out of her arse. She obviously needs a hobby of some kind.

Tranquila · 20/08/2007 16:15

what a lovely post possum. very wise you are too.

well, its been weeks and weeks since my last 10/10 confession and frankly, frank, i have been RUBBISH.

will pick up again soon. really. definately. possbily.

just wanted to say hi!

TooTicky · 20/08/2007 16:16

MrsC, I just eat redcurrants. Or I do usually. Dp mistook the leaves for something else and cut them all back this year

TooTicky · 20/08/2007 16:19

Oh, I'm another non-vaccinator.

FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2007 16:23

I don't think anyone in RL likes me as much as you lot do You always get the nice edited version, I just bugger off when I am feeling ahitty

I would put the redcurrants in a vegetarian jelly made with fruit juice. Me and ds have just done it with all our leftover scrutty bits of frozen fruit. I wonder if it will set?

Ds has just eaten the largest banana known to man. I literally don't know where he is putting it.

I have had another glass of lemon juice and hot water. I think I have asked this before but why is this good for you? Doesn't the hot water destroy all the Vit C?

You are all lovely and I am ashamed of myself

FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2007 16:25

Hello Tranquila! Have missed you. Also where is FMF? Is she away? Can we have a register or something, I can't keep track of everyone.

OP posts:
SaggyPossum · 20/08/2007 16:36

ooh, questions, questions -
where can one get vegetarian Jello? (or whatever you call the gelatin bit that makes jelly)
TooTicky, all your DCs are up and walking, especially the one currently at Guides Have you vaccinated them against tetanus? That's the one that really concerns me. I want DS to be the sort of little boy who is forever falling out of our apple tree and tearing off down the fields exploring, i don't want to hold him back because i'm frightened of the side-effects of a puncture wound. i would have him vaccinated against tetanus if there was an infant single, but there isn't. DS's rashes tell me that his immune sustem is busy sorting something out and I want to leave it to its own devices, not give it a whole other load of challenges/toxins to process.
Franny, maybe we all like this virtual forum because we can edit the bits of ourselves we don't like. In RL I've just bored a neighbour senseless whining on about all my worries and concerns and I feel very ashamed of my egocentric ramblings. That's the real me and it is a deeply depressive, defeatist and not very pleasant to know experience for others! Here my posts can be read in 10 seconds and then skipped over to the next person, in RL some poor b*gger has to listen to me for at least 10 minutes, to have a real time conversation.

Tranquila · 20/08/2007 16:46

hey!
enough of the kicking ourselves when we're down ladies please.

theres plenty of other people in the world who can do a good job of underestimating, undermining and undervaluing us, without ourselves chipping in.
if you dont mind.

(of course, im telling myself off there - you see how egocentric i am too? )

we are HUMAN. and complex. and generally have enough wonderful in us to compensate for the less so.

so there!

(sorry, got carried away with the boot camp attitude)

Tranquila · 20/08/2007 16:48

now. earlier in this thread there is mention of the meetup. is this the xmas meetup? and whos going?
i am.
and im wearing the dress i didnt wear last year. seeing as crunchie was so glamourous, i figure i can get away with a little glitz. (when else am i going to??)

Greensleeves · 20/08/2007 17:05

I like you in RL, you muppet

I have just got embroiled in yet ANOTHER monster art session, we have made a giant 3-metre frieze of undersea glittery gluey collagey fishy octopusy nonsense, ds1 has named it "The Dances of the Water" (he is such a little tart)

And we are all soaked in PVA and paint and cooking oil, and everyone sort of melted away while I scrubbed the bloody floor on my hands and knees [cinderella emoticon]

Greensleeves · 20/08/2007 17:07

sorry, initial comment aimed at Franny (haven't time to read whole thread, piles of glitter don't chase themselves impotently around a wet laminate floor, y'know)

BBBee · 20/08/2007 17:27

ha bootcamp is doing good for me.

I have had:

4 apples
huge salad
and am having chicken tonight with marrow, peas, carrots and leeks.

I have been making some cheese biscuits to take to the family we are staying with (he is diabetic - took me ages to think of a nice presenty food thing that isn't laden with sugar - any other ideas as my biscuits are a bit crap.)

Whilst I was making it I guessed all your real names (well I know some of them so I guessed what I would guess they wouldn't be if I didn't know them IYSWIM)

Franny - Charlotte
Boco - Abigail
MrsC - Catherine
TooTicky - Tamsin
100x - Cassandra
Aviatrix - Anna
Lionheart - Katy
SaggyPossum- Sarah
Tranquila - Francesca
Greeny - Matilda

Hahaha - that kept me occupied in a rather spooky way. Now you can all be offened and tell me to fuck (or c*) off.

Greensleeves · 20/08/2007 17:33

BBBee · 20/08/2007 17:36

I was going to out you as 'Nanc' because 'cunting nancy' just sounds so fine.

BBBee · 20/08/2007 17:37

agree Lionheart is better as Rebecca rather than Katy
