For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

MrsC you appear to be in your element at this boot camp ...

I have played a round of crazy golf but I don't think it counts as exercise.

TooTicky · 20/08/2007 12:59

Have eaten grapes.

Do you think this is odd?

Playdate and dd1 just having a conversation and playdate said 'when you're naughty, do your mummy and daddy put you in the bath with all your clothes on', and dd said 'of course not!'. Friend said, 'well mine do'. Dd said 'that is not the way that grown ups behave, it's a silly thing to do! I'll tell my mummy to tell them they shouldn't do silly things like that!' Then they came running through, and dd said 'when mrs playdate comes, tell her it's not the right way to behave ok?'.

It is a bit odd isn't it?

TooTicky · 20/08/2007 13:26

How very strange! Your dd sounds quite delightful.

TooTicky · 20/08/2007 13:28

Perhaps it was a one-off?

They're 5. I'm not sure really, certainly not going to tell her she's not behaving correctly for a grown - up like dd has instructed, but was considering making a joke out of it somehow? Or should i just mind my own business. They're not going to take notice of me. They are strict. And very very different to me generally - but that just sounds like such a weird punishment.

FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2007 13:48

With the water in? Because when you first said it I thought maybe she meant just sit in the bath with no water, like a sort of boring place to sit when you have misbehaved, a la Naughty Step.

I would not get manic about it but I would take it seriously. Minding your own business where possible abuse is concerned is a mistake, I think

Am feeling despondent. I don't seem to be able to get it right on here atm. Blah.

Sorry was sulking because I did the boot camp and then you all say you don't want it.

I need everyone to be very very nice to me because my parents are here and I could cry. Oh god I am tired.

Greensleeves · 20/08/2007 13:55

Oh Franny, I think we all LOVE the boot camp idea, don't we? I thought that was why we were ribbing it a bit.... sorry if my daft post upset you

I have eaten three pieces of fruit since I saw this thread this morning though, and that is in a house full of birthday cake and Wotsits....

FrannyandZooey · 20/08/2007 14:04

LOL no it was funny and I thought of quite a few rude replies about why it was for the benefit of us all that you "skip for no fucker"

I am feeling very sensitive because my mother has been picking holes in every thing in my ruddy life for the last 2 days and I have had enough of it

OP posts:
Greensleeves · 20/08/2007 14:06

Huge sympathy about having your mother to stay, what a pain in the arse. When is she going away?

lionheart · 20/08/2007 14:06

I have scrubbed the latrines with toothbrush, Sir-Ma'am.

Shiny bogs cheer everybody up.

Greensleeves · 20/08/2007 14:07

I have in fact just ordered a veritable MOUNTAIN of fruit and veg from Sainsburys online

Boco · 20/08/2007 14:23

No she did mean with the water in.

Hope you survive your mother Franny.

BBBee · 20/08/2007 14:26

oh no franny - we need the boot camp it is really good. Look at me and my coffee - I knew if it was all 'I've eaten a mars bar, bollocks to carrots' like it sometimes gets on here I would crumble.

I have done better today than I have in ages - 2 apples, huge salad and loads of vegetables planned for supper.

Wil go and have another apple - buy cox everyone - they are lovely at the momnet.

Boco - that is odd - very odd. THink frn must be right it must be a clothes on no water thing - they can't mean water. I would ignore if it was me - save it for the next party when you get drunk and shout about it. It is weird though.

Dr Avi - okay one cup normal and currently one cup decaff that I have given to dp and not said anythign. Don't know how I am going to fair in Edinburgh as I will be striding up and down streets and subjected to some dire children's shows so I might go to a two cup limit - one after lunch - just to keep me going. I feel better health wise and slept better. Am still a bit wired but think that is just me.
