For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I had banana with cashew butter, PSW, it was delicious despite costing 50p per bite

I have seen people running very fast with prams, looking decked out in sports gear as opposed to running for the bus, I assume that's power pramming? Do the babies like going that fast or do you just walk quickly? I think I might power pram anyway. I am always late.

Have had dried berry and pumpkin seed granola with raspberries and a nectarine. DD has broken up from school and ds1 has two more days. God he's moaning.

Hope you feel more spritely soon, Franny.

Lullabyloo · 18/07/2007 09:05

awwwwwwwwwwwwww franny so sorry you are feeling poorly again
The book arrived just now....hurrah!!!!!!1
Thankyou so much

it's chilly here this morning..we had blackberries, raspberries & peaches with warm pear poured over & millet porridge.

BBBBasilisk · 18/07/2007 09:22

best wishes franny.

I have had blackcurrant compote and yoghurt.

Malfoynomore · 18/07/2007 13:00

HI All, well, have tried to be as good as possible tha last few days, but didn't quite reach the ten on any days, but always had roughly 6-7 portions, so, didn't do bad at all, I suppose, lol!
So far today a Banana and a punnet of strawberries...will eat a melon at one point (yes Galia, lol, they are still on special offer) and for Dinner it will be brown rice with peas, mushrooms, garlic, peppers and chilli....!

Dumb question, but a whole Galia Melon, as how many protions would you ocunt that? Anyone?

Lullabyloo · 18/07/2007 14:09

brown rice vegetable rissoto for lunch with green salad & sunflower seeds.

nigel slater pear & blueberry cake in the oven....smells good but not sure how it'll turn out as hardly used any sugar & made it in a loaf tin rather than suggested square
my selection of tins is rubbish

Lullabyloo · 18/07/2007 14:17

BBB....cod wants to know who you are....lol

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 17:14

LL, I often use different tins. Never has pi been so useful - it might have been invented for cooks

Oh, playmobil, hang on...

BBBBasilisk · 18/07/2007 18:21

cod knows who I bloody well am.

FirenzeandZooey · 18/07/2007 18:39

have eaten salad. and worked and moved about and stuff. Despite wanting to lie on sofa reading funny book about Tour de France.

OP posts:
Malfoynomore · 18/07/2007 19:17

awww poor snotty Franny....however am at the Funny Book/Tour d'France thing....are there funny books about that, lol!

DollyPopsOut · 18/07/2007 19:28

Hope you are feeeling better Franny.

I have had large punnet raspberries, nectarine, tomatoes, toast. And copious amounts of cake. Something in my body today told me I needed sugar and fat, so that's what I've had .

Power pramming round here is getting your Stokke explorer out, donning gym bunny kit and haring round park at break neck speed. Woman leading the way has buggy but no baby. I toyed with the idea of joining when I just had DD1 but all the buggies were these blessed Stokke things and I didn't think my second hand Maclaren would cut the mustard. Oh, and I looked as though I needed a few laps of the park, whereas these laydeez were very toned to start with. I now just walk very quickly with very heavy double buggy to shops, cafes etc. That has to do.

Malfoy, I htink I would count a whole melon as 3 but I am a mere novice so could be wide of the mark.

Lullabyloo · 18/07/2007 19:50

pear & blueberry cake was delicious

basil tofu salad for supper...rocket,little gem,cucumber,tomato,carrot,beetroot,spring onion,bean shoots,radishes,green beans,flax oil,lemon juice

Malfoynomore · 18/07/2007 19:51

Dolly, I was thinking between 3-4 portions...so, maybe we are rihgt then...

FirenzeandZooey · 18/07/2007 20:00

A 2 inch slice is one portion, so if you measure the melon you can find out how many portions are in it

(LOL at the thought of someone measuring a melon)

there is detailed info on virtually every fruit and veg if you follow the link in the OP

Filchymindedvixen · 18/07/2007 20:33

veggie samosa, melon, nectarine, banana, home made curry thingy with cauli, ptato, spinach, onions, green beans, sweet potato, mushrooms, tomatoes.

There that ought to do it .

F&Z, sorry you're feeling rotton. Eat blueberries and more blueberries! (in the absence of elderberries and blackberries...)

I also find an infusion (how I love that word!) of fresh lemon, lots of grated ginger root and some honey feels very healing...) Thyme is good if you are throaty.

TheChamberofCarrots · 18/07/2007 20:33

I have had an enormous prawn stir fry with rainbow chard, carrots, peppers, onion, mushrooms, spring onion, alfalfa, courgette for supper, lunch was sushi, and I tried to eat three nectarines that were turning but I had to cut quite a bit off.

GP has referred Lo to the peadiatrician as he's so wheezy the last few days I'd like some allergy testing. She says it's hard to do but it would be very useful to know WHAT is causing it rather than all this speculation. She also thinks I am ceoliac and I have to have a blood test but I think it's just intolerance as I was fine with wheat as a child as far as I know. I have to eat wheat for a week leading up to the test, so that's great I will wait till after my holiday for that I think, hope it doesn't affect F too much either.

A friend also pointed out today that I have mostly been giving him little bits of banana and rice for the last week or so and bananas are mucous forming? You try your best and then realise you're doing things wrong, it's horrible, my mind is going round and round with it all. Sigh. Sorry for moans.

FirenzeandZooey · 18/07/2007 20:37

Thank you FMF

MrsC I am so sorry you have these worries. I hope it all gets resolved. How do bananas form mucous? it all sounds a bit peculiar.

Was it your dm who was going to Eastern Haze? I am a bit jealous now that it is this weekend. Nick Harper is playing and I think he is scrumptious.

OP posts:
Filchymindedvixen · 18/07/2007 20:45

MrsC - I read that as an enormous prawn!

F&Z - love Nick Harper....

FirenzeandZooey · 18/07/2007 20:48

ooh yes I forgot you like him too. Is this the right time to mention again that he kissed me?

OP posts:
BocoBeak · 18/07/2007 20:49

Mrs C hope all the tests give you and dc some answers. I have a wheezy dd atm, sounds like she's got a real barking smokers cough its horrid.

Franny hope you're feeling better.

I have had a peach, 2 plums, tomatoes, sweet potato, broccoli, courgette, 2 bananas.

TheChamberofCarrots · 18/07/2007 20:52

My whole family are going, db texted me yesterday to see if he could borrow £30 as he 'only has a tenner after his ticket' My mother asked if I could look after the dog

I don't know about the banana mucous thing, but it rings a bell. I think it's to do with chinese something, bananas being a cold food?

Will go and investigate...

FMV - LOL at enormous prawn, they do a curry in my favourite indian restaurant that is just one giant one! Never tried it though.

TheChamberofCarrots · 18/07/2007 21:05

oh, yes, you are asthmatic too, Boco? It's awful hearing the wheeze isn't it, you just want to cough for them.

can't actually find anything about bananas now

PinkPotterWeasleys · 18/07/2007 21:05

Hi everyone. I went to my exercise class this morning and I ache all over now! It was great though - quick warm up walking lap of the field and then jogging, sometimes with the pram and then away from baby to cones and back. We also did kick-boxing, lots of lunges with pram, and stretching type excersices. I'm fitter than I thought I was
Today I have had raisins, salad in sandwich, the rest of the chocolate cake from last night , HUGE salad for dinner with raw grated beetroot, lettuce, cress, cucumber, tomato, spring onion, artichoke, sunblushed tomatoes, roasted peppers, gerkins. I didn't go shopping though so very little fruit left. I'm going have a nectarine (well the half that isn't mouldy) and some melon.

Snotty Franny - hope you feel better soon.
MrsC - sorry to hear about your troubles. But seeing that you have to eat wheat you can start dreaming about what you might eat that week

Hope everyone's ok.

lionheart · 18/07/2007 21:59

Sorry you're having algae withdrawal Franny.

Have started eating better again (more sickness the reason for the lull, I'm afraid)

and have had satsumas, peas, apple and banana, which sounds pathetic but is very good after nil by mouth.
