For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Sorry too about little Mr Carrot. Hope you get some answers.

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 22:40

Lionheart, have you been unwell? Have I missed something?

PSW, that pram stuff sounds quite bizarre. Particularly the lunges - not so good for getting little one to sleep I guess

Oh poor Franny. Is ds feeling quiet and cuddly? I always find that helps.

MrsC, my best wishes to you and the Carrotlet.

And appropriately nice wishes to everybody else - am too tired to recap thread!

Oh, LL, tomorrow!! Ds1 promised faithfully that he would sort out his pirate island thing in case you're interested (yes, I fell for it, "Later Mum, I promise! ) and then he went out to see how far he could fire a newspaper with dd1's bow and then it got too late. Again!!

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 22:58

Oh, made rather a good pesto with basil, olive oil, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and sea salt. Dcs had no idea how healthy it was!

BBBBasilisk · 18/07/2007 23:05

mrc C - dregding the recesses of my mind but cannot recall a banana mucus thing. Hope she picks up soon - sounds horrid.

Franny - um eat some sushi with loads of wasabi and pickled ginger. Hope you feel better soon.

all this talk of jogging round parks with buggies - what's wrong with walking? Surly we do not need another thing to add to a long list of things to feel guilty about now we have to run to the co-op with the buggy instead of a sedate stroll.

Lulla - am loving these tofu and basil combinations you speak of. Am trying to eat more tofu but cannot make it work for me - think basil might be a strong enough taste. Tell me more.

I bitched about the jam thread earlier - bad karma.

Have got allotment fever - am allotment sitting for my friend and her allotment is heaving so I have had loads of fresh peas, blackberries, strawberries, courgette, lettuce and tomatoes - all in huge fresh amounts.

I am going to have loads of courgettes - any ideas? I just fried them with garlic and had them with pasta - was lovley but sure there are more interesting things to do with them!

Where;s NQC?

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 23:11

BBB - ratatouille. Or veg kebabs.

lionheart · 18/07/2007 23:15

Not unwell as such, TooT but developed a mouthful (and I mean a mouthful--we're talking double figures here) of ulcers. Could barely talk let alone eat (except ice-cream). Grumpy as hell.

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 23:16

Oh poor you!!!

lionheart · 18/07/2007 23:17

Better now.

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 23:19

Must've been awful!

lionheart · 18/07/2007 23:23

I've always gone through times when they flare up, can't figure out why, either.

It's a bugger but at least as an adult I can take painkillers, I never did as a child.

lionheart · 18/07/2007 23:26

The pesto sounds good, though, TooT.

Actually, now I can eat again, everything does.

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 23:27

I once had a mouthful of tiny tiny blisters - came up after eating a carrot and thankfully disappeared within the hour.

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 23:29

Unfortunately haven't eaten much of the pesto because I mixed it into pasta and then remembered I seem to be struggling with wheat a bit atm. Ate some but felt a bit bloaty. I've got a little left - might cook some rice for it tomorrow.

lionheart · 18/07/2007 23:35

Do you have a carrot allergy then? Or was this just a one off?

TooTicky · 18/07/2007 23:36

Just one of those freaky one-off things.

lionheart · 18/07/2007 23:38

There are many, many freaky one-off things, aren't there?

FirenzeandZooey · 19/07/2007 09:28

Yes I was wondering if NQC was ok as well. And aviatrix. And Tatties. And whether Overrun will ever come back

I have crappy aches and pains today, especially low down in my back (kidneys?). Anyone want to attempt an online diagnosis and tell me what to do?

OP posts:
FirenzeandZooey · 19/07/2007 09:32

Lionheart I have never been prone to mouth ulcers but last year we got some freaky kind of virus and all ended up with a mouthful of them. Dp who regularly does get mouth ulcers said they were the worst he has ever had. It was abysmal and I couldn't eat without crying. Huge synpathies for you.

at carrot blister. Did it have a nettle on it or something?

BBB I usually put courgettes on a kebab (with tofu) or roast them with aubergines, tomatoes and peppers

PSW the power pramming sounds fab! Odd, but fab.

Hope all poorly children and adults improve today.

Lullabyloo · 19/07/2007 09:57

oh poor franny....does sound like a chill on the kidneys.
are you drinking plenty of warm fluids?

BBB...i like courgettes provencale...cut courgettes into thick slices & saute with olive oil & rosemary for a minute with seasoning & bit of balsamic vinegar.Tip in some cherry toms & cook until veg are sligntly softened & then throw in lots of basil............yum

I buy a really good basil tofu from our local organic shop...it's soooooooo good.I find it hard to eat otherwise. When I cant get hold of it I just whizz up lots of basil & a garlic clove with a little olive oil & marinade the tofu in it for a few hrs.....it's lovely.

have had grilled peaches & raspberries & a bowl of quinoa in miso soup.

FirenzeandZooey · 19/07/2007 10:24

"A chill on the kidneys"

that sounds kind of medieaval

what does it mean?

OP posts:
FirenzeandZooey · 19/07/2007 10:25

pls excuse spelling

my kidneys have affected it very badly

OP posts:
lionheart · 19/07/2007 13:26

Means you need to put you feet up, drape your brocade around you and have the servants

fetch you steaming brews of herbs and mulled wine, I would think.

Hope you feel better soon. Have you gone back to the algae?

FirenzeandZooey · 19/07/2007 13:43

Yes yes am algaed and eldered up

still v fevery though

arse

OP posts:
lionheart · 19/07/2007 13:48

Arse, indeed.

Tatties · 19/07/2007 14:15

Is kidney pain due to lack of salt? Or water? I notice lower back ache at various points in my cycle too, but then I am inclined to relate everything to my periods...

Sorry you're still feeling crap. It is double arse indeed. Can you rest?
