For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yes, Butternut, or Grapeness. Either actually makes sense to me, which makes a change from this week's title ...

Tatties · 08/07/2007 22:04

Oh I make beds, I enjoy that.

Franny you thought my title was shit didn't you

I like When Shall We Three Beet Again, quite apt given the weather atm

Aitch · 08/07/2007 22:05

what about You're The One For Me, Tattie. too scottish? too carby?

Tatties · 08/07/2007 22:09

Aitch now that is one FANTASTIC thread title even if tatties don't really count (I changed my name to that once you know)

FrannyandZooey · 08/07/2007 22:10

Oh no Tatties I didn't

oh I am sorry, I just thought as Greeny had clearly lost her marbles, that we ought to humour her a bit longer

and people said "oh can we have this one netx week etc etc"

oh dear I will get into trouble here I can see, aargh what is a fair way of choosing titles?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 08/07/2007 22:11

Yes Aitch that is the business but that would just have to be a thread about how much we love Tatties (which we do), not a thread about eating vegetables

I like 'and did those beet in ancient time' best but quite like the butternut one too.

Dh has his work shirts ironed near his work for not very much. I did half heartedly offer to do them once but he politely declined due to previous lack of skill. Shame.

I've had herb quinoi with our barbeque and puy lentils with rocket, tomatoes and strawberries. I seem to have eaten a lot of crisps today too, must remember that vegetable oil anti crisp advert. Had mixed seeds with rosemary and more acai/pomegranate smoothie.

MrsCarrot · 08/07/2007 22:16

Aitch, can I ask quick BLW question or should I go to blog?

Lo (25 weeks) is getting angry when sucking fruit when previously loved it, also does watery sick afterwards, should I wait a bit or actually let him hold it. Dh thinks he should just have rice?

Tatties · 08/07/2007 22:20

LOL at democratic thread titles. I think as you are the boss Franny you need to take charge and pick whichever one takes your fancy. It's nice to have a surprise on a Monday morning

MrsC, dp usually declines also on the VERY rare occasion I offer to iron anything of his

Aitch · 08/07/2007 22:23

what fruit? i don't think dd could take citrus for a long while, it was too acidic for her.

i'd hand it over, though, so that the baby can reject it iykwim? dd was pretty cunning with tomatoes, always picked them up, sucked them and then rejected them in a disgusted manner. turns out she's got an allergy to them now she's older so i'm glad i left it up to her.

MrsCarrot · 08/07/2007 22:28

well, he was grabbing things that I eat, watermelon, nectarine, banana etc, so I let him suck them while he holds it but I hold it too iyswim, sounds weird doesn't it, I suppose his fury could be me not letting go but it seems to be aimed at the fruit itself.

Aitch · 08/07/2007 22:37

lol, let him have it and then you'll know.

lionheart · 08/07/2007 22:39

I was thinking the same thing, Tatties.

MrsCarrot · 08/07/2007 22:45

yes that seems obvious but I'm too scared to! and dh is sat there piping up that he's not ready for it, should just have rice etc especially as he's more sick after it. Guess it's just trial and error. Thanks.

Aitch · 08/07/2007 22:47

does he have acid reflux, mrsc?

MrsCarrot · 08/07/2007 22:53

he's barely ever sick so don't think so, do you mean the fruit could have caused it? What about him having rice if he feeds himself, holds the spoon etc? Sorry for late night questions...

Aitch · 08/07/2007 22:54

can i ask why the obsession with rice? do you mean baby rice? have you tried it yourself? was it delicious?

Boco · 08/07/2007 22:56

My vote goes with butternut.

Mrs C, the granny fruit cover thing was from a shop in my village called green door. If you can't find one i could send you one.

Today i've had apricots, strawberries, lots of blueberries, banana, green beans, courgette, sweetcorn.

MrsCarrot · 08/07/2007 22:57

haven't tried the baby rice no! Just that it's such a calming non allergenic, non acidic foodstuff, seems a good start and we eat lots of it, well actual grains obviously

TooTicky · 08/07/2007 22:57

I made falafel! They didn't fall to bits! They looked so good! [seriously chuffed] A little dry on the inside, but I think they tasted okay (after 3 days of sneezing, have finally concluded that I have a small cold).

Quinoa salad with beetroot, apple, orange and raisins. Have just made apple/blackcurrant/loganberry cake.

Ds1 livened up the evening by painting himself pink. Everywhere. He has had 2 baths but is still glowing

filthymindedvixen · 08/07/2007 22:58

I vote for You're The One For Me Tatties

or See My Baby Chive...

How about Not Mushroom for crap food!

MrsCarrot · 08/07/2007 22:59

Thanks, Boco, I'll look out for one in town tomorrow, might take you up on that if I can't find one. They are drivng me mad and I hate cold nectarines

Aitch · 08/07/2007 23:02

tbh i'd say that a baby wouldn't be able to pick up rice by themselves adn if they were on a spoon they'd likely choke on the grains. can't you just give him a bit of steamed carrot on his tray and see what happens next?
