For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information here (follow the link at the very bottom of the page)

'ello. I love Pringles and have been known to eat a handful and then throw the rest of the tube away in order to save myself from myself.

FrannyandZooey · 30/05/2007 07:34

Morning all, morning Suzy

I am back at work today after endless languishing on the sofa. Bit nervy about being out and about again bizarrely. I still feel very tired.

Anyway, eating pineapple, orange, grapes, apple and pear for breakfast. 3 or 4 portions.

PinkMartini · 30/05/2007 09:50

Morning morning. No fruit in my house but had 5 portions of veg at dinner last night.
Will probably have a carb heavy breakfast and then veg for the rest of the day.
On the fruit front: if I make raisin biscuits and Lemon Drizzle Cake do those count as portions? [hopeful but really aware that the sugar cancels out the health benefits. sob]

suzycreamcheese · 30/05/2007 10:26

Tatties, if you want to know more about homoeopathy (including recommendations and optional personal testimonies ) feel free to email me: [email protected]

Pringles, btw, are made by Very Nasty People who do experiments on poor defenseless animals. So stick that in yer tube and crunch it.

I have been eating salad despite autumnal stew-friendly weather in an attempt to reduce our lettuce mountain.

Also panicking rather about our big day out in London on Saturday with 4 dcs which involves us catching a train at 7.55 am fgs in a town about 8 miles away. We are not good at organised mornings. And I know there is no way I can carry the amount of fruit the children normally eat in a day.

Lullabyloo · 30/05/2007 13:37

walked into town in the poring rain to the farmers market...bought asparagus, spinach, calabrese, kale, broad beans & strawberries.

Am having warm spinach, tomato, spring onion, asparagus, goats cheese & pine nut salad for lunch.

lionheart · 30/05/2007 15:04

What is this about Pringles laced with addictive substances placed there by the ethically suspect? Who makes them? (Am off to google).

MrsCurrant · 30/05/2007 19:55

had rocket, tomatoes, cucumber, pepper and mixed herb quinoi for lunch.

Dh bringing thai home for dinner after my shock of a pigeon flapping round my dining room earlier. After that crow thread it was quite freaky!

Dh home with thai now! Interested to hear about the pringles thing, oh god that tom yum smells gorgeous, I'm off...

Lullabyloo · 30/05/2007 21:00

Have made large vats of soup after being given lots of organic parsnips and carrots. Have eaten quite a lot. It wasn't as parsnippy as I feared. Have also had apple and grapefruit. Oh, and earlier on I had dark chocolate and orange cake with plain soya yogurt and strawberries. Two helpings

Lullabyloo · 31/05/2007 08:43

hello all I have been around in spirit - perhaps you have seen my detox thread

however it's hard to manage 10 portions a day when you aren't allowed fruit, nightshade veg (tomatoes, peppers, aubergines), courgettes etc

however I am quite bursting with life I have to say

am at your mouthwatering fruit plates - bizarrely more than the chocolate and orange cake

(TooTicky I haven't forgotten your photo but every time I have been into town recently it has been hammering it down and I have been running in and out of Absolutely Necessary Shops before scurrying back to the car)

Tatties · 31/05/2007 11:20

I won't bore you with my F&V intake, but I have had some blueberries this morning. I am not really concentrating on it atm, other things on my mind, but I think I will make a soup this afternoon, with my usual lentils, sweet potato, onion, carrot and spinach. I made ds some rice and lentils yesterday, he looked at it suspiciously so I told him it tastes a bit like soup... he promptly turned his nose up at it and started sobbing because he wanted soup. Entirely my fault for mentioning it of course, so that is why we are having soup today even though I don't really feel inclined to make it in warmer weather

Franny I so know how you feel wrt being nervy about getting out and about again... as I think you know illness totally knocks my confidence so I can really empathise. Anyway the new mantra I have in my head is "Exercise boosts the immune system!" so that is why I am feeling very positive about joining the gym (when I get back from hols) - anyone else going to join me?

Lullabyloo maybe we will bump into each other next week

TooTicky, I don't think I congratulated you and your dd on being selected for the Junior Mastermind auditions!!! Brilliant You'll have to let us know how she gets on

MrsCurrant · 31/05/2007 12:07

I have a cold.

I haven't had a cold this bad since xmas 2005, and I am dosing up on all my remedies in case it is not gone in a day and I have to eat my worthy words.

I expect I caught it from Franny.

Lullabyloo · 31/05/2007 14:10

Maybe Tatties...we'll be in North Cornwall...pray for some sun...cant do a week of wellies...again
