For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information here (follow the link at the very bottom of the page)

Hello all. My mind has gone blank. I think I ate some food today. Well, I did. And too much of it was bread. But have walked over 3 miles, some of that with dd2 on a trike, which I was having to use with the wrong handle, so had to stoop. Not good. Oh, and I did pick a bunch of elderflowers by the canal and took them home and infused them. Delicious.
Where is Filly anyway? The last I heard, her in laws were invading and she was going to buy a bike. Not sure if the two things were connected...

FrannyandZooey · 18/05/2007 09:06

I am missing Filly, a lot, but I think she wants to rid herself of the curse that is MN (hopefully only temporarily)

I have eaten grapes, orange, apple, pear, raisins

expecting huge f+v delivery this morning, am I sad to get excited wondering about what will be in it?

Have just eaten monster plateful of courgette/tomato/mushroom/pepper.butternut squash/onion/garlic stuff. Full, really, but still want to eat. Am finding this a problem atm. Will be walking to school and back if the weather stays friendly.

suzycreamcheese · 18/05/2007 17:51

poetical...why thank you!
had have someother nice things said today so makes up for crappola of highest order
...

hi all.

...just in and now out just now!

FrannyandZooey · 18/05/2007 17:51

TooT sounds like you need more fat in your diet - satiety is often controlled by fat intake which is why low fat diets don't always work

avocado, nuts and seeds all good 10 / 10 ish sources of fat but I expect you knew that

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 18/05/2007 17:51

oh suzy sorry to hear about crap

can we listen and groan sympathetically?

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 18/05/2007 17:52

Stuffed the shepherds pie full of veg last night, celery, peppers etc, and then had it with french beans, runner beans and cabbage. Making the mash with olive oil was a success too, it went really crispy. I suppose the carrotcake doesn't count?

Today, pineapple chew bar and apple, lunch smoked haddock with poached egg and asparagus, homemade smoothiE with raspberries blueberries and bananas. Later we're having Mango/chicken cuury (again) from waitrose with loads of spinach, green beans, alfalfa and broccoli sprouts carrots and absolutely enormous radishes? Have you seen the size of some of them?

I get the feeling this would all be much more significant if I coupled it with plenty of exercise but short of walking, quite fast mostly, I do nothing that REALLY raises my heart rate, haven't done yoga for years etc. It's quite hard to GET TO a class with a small baby What do you all do for exercise? My friend wants me to start runnning when she gets back from scotland. I said yes, but... not really looking forward to it. I used to kickbox, but stopped after I accidently dislocated dh's shoulder Well, it had happened before so it was PRONE to it.

suzycreamcheese · 18/05/2007 20:56

TooTicky · 18/05/2007 23:20

scc - I hope things keep getting better for you.

Franny - I hadn't considered fat - thanks. Being a bit, well, vegan like, who hates margariney spreads, I suppose I don't get a lot. I have been having an avocado a day this week tho', and some nuts...hmm.

Have just done some leg raising in the bath which made me feel very worthy but then I started worrying about my CS scar which still hurts sometimes after over 10 years fgs, so I stopped.

Something exciting might happen soon - won't say what - but I hope it does. Had to say something 'cos I'm bursting with it and if I mentioned it in RL people would think I was boasting. And anyway it might come to nowt. But please cross your fingers...'cos you guys are my fwends...

suzycreamcheese · 19/05/2007 01:12

thanks guys... tis better much much....and all happend suddenly,...so feels like its all to do with stars and higher things........

FrannyandZooey · 19/05/2007 08:05

Morning suzy, I love that feeling when lots of good things seems to be coming and you feel like the universe is smiling on you. Run with it, you can make fantastic changes at times like that when opportunities seem to be everywhere - don't just sit back and let it go by

I am having a short break from Mooncups (last month particularly was a lot of work), will probably be taking orders again next month (Mooncup would get to you early July). If you can't wait I think bodykind do the best deal on the net.

TooT I am really excited for you and keeping all possible parts of me crossed - can't you just give us a little hint? And how that you think you would be seen as showing off in RL - nowt wrong with a bit of showing off among friends....

I have had melon, kiwi, apple, orange and raisins. Yum.
