For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information here (follow the link at the very bottom of the page)

get a sodding grip woman! put it out of mind, note anything relevent down in a journal of some sort so as to compile a broader picture to take back to doc in august and concentrate on, i dunno, writing your memoirs or something!

will that do?

lionheart · 17/05/2007 15:06

Don't worry, or, get a second opinion if you really don't trust the first.

By way of distraction, Franny, posting pictures of yourself climbing up what looks suspiciously like rigging is not going to help put the recent misunderstanding over sea-faring outlaws to rest, is it?

What a sweetie your DS is, with that beautiful hair.

EnidTheInvisible · 17/05/2007 15:14

homemade muesli thing with dried fruit, bananas, blueberries and apple this am

then mackerel with ratatouille for lunch - peppers, aubergines, onions, garlic, tomatoes

and a carrot

yay

Tatties · 17/05/2007 17:59

So far I have had grapes, blueberries, 2 satsumas, banana, dried mango, fruit juice and am about to have yesterday's leftovers for dinner (stew with tomatoes, mushrooms, red pepper, onion, lentils, courgette, carrot). Think we'll have it with wholewheat spaghetti tonight though - ds loves spaghetti. I tell you writing this down really does motivate me to snack on fruit more.

Been having another go at the hoop, but I'm obviously not dirty enough

Franny I agree with Lionheart about getting a second opinion if you're not happy

lionheart · 17/05/2007 18:11

So far, half a gallon of smoothie, juice, mushrooms, carrots, grapes, little trees, apple.

What is the dirty hoop, Tatties?

womblingalong · 17/05/2007 18:32

Hello everyone,

Franny you're blonde! i pictured you as auburn/dark haired, and OMG how cute is your boy!

Have not been here after a shaky start to 10/10 a few weeks ago due to newborn and toddler issues, and revisit to hospital, however have been eating loads of veg and fruit,as have had family round cooking lovely food for me! Have also cancelled out fruit and veg with lots of cakes and biscuits!

Today I walked to playgroup and back with double buggy and did silly dancing with my toddler.

Have eaten blueberries with porridge, lentils and rice with spinach and tomato and onion for lunch, banana, orange, apple, pomegranate juice, pak choi and broccoli for dinner

handlemecarefully · 17/05/2007 19:08

Can't catch up on all last 2 days messages but noticed from the most recent posts that Franny had posted photos so had to scroll down and have a look.

Franny you're a babe! - and your ds is rather scrummy....

This 10 fruit and vegetable portions thingy is going great. I love vegetables but have never been a huge fan of fruit - but today I tried mango (yes never eaten it before - only consumed it as part of a smoothie mixed with other fruit) and it was a revelation! Loved it

I've also learnt how to make a simple green salad more appealing with the addition of toasted pine nuts / black pepper croutons etc, and mixed organic leaves rather than dull old lolla rossa every time. Basically I am really enjoying my food [schoolgirlish enthusiasm emoticon]

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2007 20:10

Oh hurrah at everyone, what fab food you have all been eating and brilliant to see this thread thriving and busy

HELLO again wombling! Lovely to see you! Yur food today sounded wonderful. I love blueberries and

Yes whenever I post a picture everyone is always shocked I have not got curly auburn hair. I am almost getting to the point where I may try having curly auburn hair in real life.

Suzy yes my name is Salinger ref. Franny and Zooey is one of my favourite books. Ds has literary name so I thought I would have one as well Greeny is around but not MNing much and I have not seen StrangeTown lately. StrangeTown wheeeeere arrrrrrrre yoooooooou?

Lionheart at pirate reminder. I thought I was living that down at last

Swizzler, sounds good, keep it up! More details and trivia please though

NG I am pretty sure my friend is not your mother. I think it must be a crappy photo of her as she is young and funky in RL, not like anybody's mother or a New Seeker at all. Did you try on the knickers yet? Are we going to get a photo of them?

Tatties think FILTHY think Stephen Morrissey in a feather boa

YAY at Enid's carrot

MrsCarrot goji berries are rank aren't they? I think they are like chewing flowery wood. Not in a good way. I was wearing Converse rip offs in the photo. £5 in New Look sale

Pavlov all that food sounds delicious. I am sure it all counts. Do you find it annoying how you can't usually get vegetables as a side dish in a restaurant, or if you can they are usually very pricey. The only exception is home cooked pub type places where you can usually order a dish of extra veg.

HMC teacher's pet award for being extremely enthusiastic. I love this way of eating and it feels like a treat every day to eat good fresh stuff. I also had some M+S fairtrade organic chocolate with almonds today and that was bloody good as well.

Aviatrix yes it was the same doc and you are all very sweet but I really WILL gat a grip about it now. She virtually forbade me to come back again before August and she did not think there was anything wrong with my liver. I am always going to be nervy about it though.

I have had beetroot and red pepper with lunch, and avocado, chickpea, lettuce, cucumber, tomato and hummus salad for dinner.

harpsichordcarrier · 17/05/2007 20:44

yes I am off to the shops to buy more FRUIT
god we get through a busting lot of fruit these days

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2007 20:45

yes the farm where we get our fruit delivered from had to check with me 3 times that we really did want TWO large family sized boxes of fruit delivered each week

market much much much cheaper than shop for fruit hc, and nicer

Catcher in the Rye is one of dp's favourite books, he made me read it when we first met

Franny and Zooey is sitting there on the shelf but I still haven't got round to that one yet

FrannyandZooey · 17/05/2007 21:14

LOLOL did I tell you I bought Catcher for one of the girls I used to nanny for who had turned 16

she said "it didn't really seem to be about anything and Holden was kind of annoying"

youth of today

OP posts:
Tatties · 17/05/2007 21:23

I loved it (had to though really didn't I?)

For any other Smiths fans, I have it on good authority that this is a series worth watching, particularly the last programme

suzycreamcheese · 17/05/2007 21:29

holden 'annoying'...wtf...
haha..i didnt think you were blonde either..fwiw...

catcher in the rye very special book, ...made me laugh and cry so much...x

OP posts:
lionheart · 17/05/2007 22:09

With Holden you either get it or think he's a moany little saddo, I think.

NappiesGalore · 17/05/2007 22:17

hmmmmm, im pretty sure none of you want, or need, to see a picture of my stern knickers. with or without me in them... mind you, the model in the pic on the tag looks rather fetching in them. but then, shes a model so she would, wouldnt she.

dont take offence on yr friends part. my mum is really quite young and funky herself. at times. is fairly often dressed exactly like that and wouldnt surprise me for a second that she was up some rigging for whatever reason. it was a darkish pic tho, so couldnt see face well... but is honestly not an insult. she doesnt look remotely like a mum or even grandma...

anyhoo
have eaten.... oh i cant remember.
i did have a handful of my own grown strawbs tho. and i planted a row of raspberry bushes too. which involved digging.
also did a bout of crazy dancing to Garbage with ds's 1&2... and , rather impressively, took all 3 babies swimming. by myself . (we have a pool. which is much less opulant thatn it sounds; is an old grain store in a lean to off the barn, our house used to be a farm, but really bloody lovely and wonderful nonetheless. and am delighted to find that the ds's are all really keen on getting in this year. ds1&2 were really nervous last year.)

so a good day all round then

lionheart · 17/05/2007 22:49

V. brave to go swimming with three babies.

suzycreamcheese · 17/05/2007 22:55
