For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information here (follow the link at the very bottom of the page)

I've always looked at mooncups with interest but I can't believe they don't leak somehow? Presumably they don't or people wouldn't use them. I did know of someone who used to save it for their plants, presume there was some mineraly reason, but found the idea a bit odd I have to say.

I've never read Catcher in the Rye and it was our book group read in January so I bought it but didn't go as I'd just had LO. I haven't progressed much past vacuous magazines yet but maybe soon!

Had the mango curry with a lime and alfalfa veg quinoi in the end and it was great. Lots of pineapple and strawberries this morning and smoothie. How do you find the fruit boxes, Franny, is there enough different kinds of fruit or is it mostly apples and oranges etc? There is an organic shop nearby but they're very pricey, I'd quite like to try a box scheme again. I stopped before as there wasn't much variation but they may have improved, it was years ago.

I'll tell you what, I am happy to get Mooncups for you chaps on here this month, but I won't shout about it or start a thread up or anything. Last month it just took up bags of time for some reason, and somebody posted my details on another forum which I think was extremely cheeky, so I got loads of emails from people who are not even MNers

MrsCarrot and Aviatrix please CAT me if you would like me to order one, they would be sent out by 13th June this time. Or just get one if you can't be arsed to wait

I will do another public thread probably next month but I just needed a break from doing loads of them.

Suzy I love Truman Capote too and at that age was also enjoying John Irving (still favourites)

MrsCarrot our fruit box is ok, although I usually buy grapes as well each week and sometimes something else just for a change. This week there was oranges, pears, apples, rhubarb, kiwis and bananas although I think that was a rather larger variety than usual. I find each of the box schemes are so different and it is worth looking around every year or so as new ones spring up all the time.

I am happy with our current one for now as they are relatively near to us, and although not all of the produce is local (obviously), they are working on growing more and more of what goes into the boxes themselves. Our last one was much more flexible (you could basically phone and order what produce you wanted, which was fab), but virtually none of that was local, so I am trying to get used to the new one.

For some reason I was going to say good morning but it is after 4 o'clock isn't it

Suzy glad you are feeling lighter, hope the positivity continues!

TooTicky I am crossing things for you very curiously

Franny how about "Veg out and eat some fruit" for the thread title - quite apt don't you think, considering the amount of exercise we are all doing?

Today so far I've had some fruit juice and a banana and some hummus. Not good enough... am going to eat some blueberries now.

FrannyandZooey · 19/05/2007 21:26

Tatties thank you I will def use that unless someone can trump it

am never at my most creative and witty on a Monday morning

I have had:

some cress in a sandwich (scraping the barrel here)
cherry toms, mushrooms and peppers on a kebab

v poor indeed

did charge about a ridiculous amount all morning though leaving me only fit to drape languorously on the sofa

TooTicky · 19/05/2007 22:35

Can't remember what I've eaten today, seem to have spent all day cooking enough food to feed...well, me and 4 dcs tomorrow. But when we go out everybody seems to eat lunch before we've left the county so we need tons.

Thanks for the good vibes and crossings - please aim them at my dd1

Oh, and if anybody can arrange good weather for tomorrow that would be useful as we're off to Southsea to collect a tent I bought on ebay. Southsea fgs. At the time I thought, "Great, an excuse for a day by the sea!". But it's further away than I thought so hoping dd2 will not object too strongly to the journey.

Will stop chatting now as I really should be sleeping.

Goodnight

Evening! Guess what? I have been to aqua aerobics

And it was jolly good fun! The instructor was playing some good music too so I was very enthusiastic. Now let's see if I can manage to get myself there next week...

Fruit and veg intake has been ok, not astounding.

Franny I have carrot and stick in my head but don't know how you could turn that into a thread title

MrsCarrot · 20/05/2007 21:14

aqua aerobics, that sounds fun, I always think I might laugh at everyone doing star jumps in the water? I'm sure it's not like that though is it? I'm desperate to do some more exercise, I can feel my belly working its way up and over my jeans to say hello every time I walk anywhere quickly. Walked quite a bit on the beach today but it was more of an amble.

Franny, thanks for the offer of moooncups, I haven't had my period back yet, still breastfeeding a lot, but they sell them in the green grocers down the road anyway. Not sure how much they are, or indeed if I feel comfortable using them. Are the instructions very, um, detailed, and do they overflow?

Lots of fruit salad this morning, pineapple, raspberries apples bananas passion fruit. Dinner was lots of chickpea and paprika mash, green beans, broccoli and carrots. I suppose choc covered orange peel doesn't count?

I seem to have asked rather a lot of questions. Sorry!

FrannyandZooey · 20/05/2007 21:15

MrsC wonderful they have them in your local shop. They are so simple, you just fold it up, insert, let it unfold, it sits there until you break the suction and remove it. Empty contents into toilet, rinse the mooncup, reinsert. They would in theory overflow eventually but they hold more than a super plus tampon so should not cause a problem.

NG you have SPECIAL DISPENSATION

the shiny halo of 10 / 10 follows you wherever you go

Tatties · 20/05/2007 21:23

MrsCarrot it was just fun, no-one was laughing at each other, you're too busy jumping around and getting out of breath for that! But I was smiling a lot as I was enjoying myself

I can really recommend the Mooncup - maybe give yourself a month or two to get used to the idea of having periods again before trying it though. They don't overflow as such, but there are tiny holes near the top, so blood will start to trickle out if it is too full. No worse than a saturated tampon though.

LOL at choc covered orange peel, I have just been tucking into some nutella...

Tatties · 20/05/2007 21:38
