It's back For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and more detailed information here

Oh I am SOOOOOO pleased to see this topic, I have been developing scurvy without it.

And scurvy is NOT nice, I can tell you

lets see if I can round up a few more people

Snaf · 13/02/2007 09:21

I'm going to sign up but I have a feeling that it'll go the same way as www's 6-week plan for me

I have appalling skin and terrible, sluggish digestion so I really, really need this.

I'm going to print off the fruit-and-veg list to give me inspiration...

Hemulen · 13/02/2007 09:23

Greetings

I am hoping to eat more fruit and veg and exercise more frequently

I take it I am in the correct place?

Fillyjonk · 13/02/2007 09:29

ah excellent, party warming up nicely

off to eat some bananas

FrannyandZooey · 13/02/2007 09:42

at Filly and all her aliases

Welcome Snaf - you should not find this hard to stick to, I promise. It's a really enjoyable way to eat, and you only have to attempt 10 minutes of activity a day. If you have digestive problems I would build up gradually, maybe aim for 5 portions for the first few days? Give your body a chance to adjust.

Filly don't forget that bananas are not the only fruit

Hello hello

I really need this thread to make a come back. I am ill again , the usual virus turning into secondary infection (chest) and Asthma.
So need to get as fit as possible to avoid this always happening.
My goals are to reinstate the exercise, and I really must just start with 10 minutes of gentle exercise as my breathing is currently not up to more. Also, I want to eat more fruit, I have the opposite problem to F&Z and much prefer veg to fruit

FrannyandZooey · 13/02/2007 12:30

Oh Overrun I am sorry you are not well again I am sure eating 10 a day and gentle exercise can help in the long run? Plus we can all sympathise lots.

Right has anyone else got started yet? I have had a pear, apple, 2 plums, soya milk, a clementine and raisins for breakfast, and am just about to have beetroot, carrot, cucumber and celery with my lunch. Oh and a banana. I reckon that is about 8? (I am still sketchy on the veg portions)

I can eat this way, no problem, but exercise is my achilles heel at the moment. I haven't gone to the gym for a month and feel really intimidated by the thought of it for some reason Any help appreciated...

Gaffsie · 13/02/2007 13:19

Splendid, splendid. And how delightful to see you Mrs. Fillyjonk.

Snaf · 13/02/2007 13:36

Umm, so far apple, raisins and a pomegranate/blueberry/acai smoothie. Am just going to have a banana

SauerKraut · 13/02/2007 13:44

Excellent! Had been slipping mightily. Today I have had avocado, lettuce, banana, dates.F and Z, I could never be arsed in a million years to go to the gym even if school hours in this country left me enough free time- so I just go for a brisk walk. I have also discovered ice skating, which doesn't feel like exercise at all!

Mycupoverrunswithlove · 13/02/2007 14:40

Hi, not doing too brilliantly today, but yesterday, hey that was a different matter
Today, museli, apple and pomegranite juice. This is because I feel too ill to make something. Dh is off work today, so will get him to do several vegetables for our dinner tonight.
F&Z, I am probably the wrong person to motivate you about the gym, as its my achilles heel too.
I have now got two 2.5 hour slots a week to myself, but there doesn't seem to be a handy exercise class on either of those days
I think that I might start to go out more and do things in the evening again now it is getting lighter.
I wish I could afford gym, as there is a good one near me, with a lovely pool. I love swimming, its such a good form of exercise for Asthmatics. The local pool doesn't hold quite the same attraction

Fillyjonk · 13/02/2007 15:42

shall I go to the gym today? Shall I?

Its Ms Jonk btw. thanks

Mycupoverrunswithlove · 13/02/2007 16:20

Ms Jonk,
why don't you have a bonk?

You burn off a lot of calories that way, and don't need to go out

Fillyjonk · 13/02/2007 16:28

Mycupoverrunswithlove · 13/02/2007 16:30
