It's back For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and more detailed information here

I'm still exercising, you will be to find out! Run on Sunday, tape on Monday, run on Tuesday. Nothing really yesterday (fuming at in-laws - does that count?). Today is biking to the train station and back.

I think I'm managing the other 10, or nearly so, most of these days. I suspect 6 or so of the 10 are citrus fruits, as I appear to have a bit of an obsession there.

Must go put phone numbers in my phone, and try to remember which town Frances is in ...

Fillyjonk · 15/02/2007 08:52

um in answer to q

no

FrannyandZooey · 15/02/2007 08:54

Aha. NQC, I appoint you Chief Exerciser for the thread. It's ok, everyone, you can relax, NQC's got it covered

Not much exercising going on here, I've had a horrid virus and can't do much without coughing horrid green goo up (TMI probably )

Sticking to brisk walking around the site where I work atm, and will go back to aerobics next week.

I have about 6 stone to lose (am on the BigMoFo's thread as well as this one) so I need to get motivated. Good job I love all fruit & veg (& wine & chocolate)

Hi all, weetabix for me today, with a banana and a apple so far.
I am planning to do my pilates dvd while ds1 is at nursery and my Mum has the dts today. Hurray!

cod, if I don't talk about it I won#t do it

plus I get to come on here and be all smug "ooh I have eaten three apples and walked for hours" and everyone comes along and says well done. I love that

Fillyjonk · 15/02/2007 09:49

no we eat veg too

sometimes off mismatched crockery

Mycupoverrunswithlove · 15/02/2007 09:53

Yep, its the shame side of things, if you don't manage to eat some fruit and veg or exercise, and the sense of community (I kid you not) when you do manage it. I feel all virtuous when I post what I have eaten, and that galvanises me to carry on

Fillyjonk · 15/02/2007 10:14

was going to go to gym tonite

but have had better offer...

FrannyandZooey · 15/02/2007 10:29

"so you eat fruit and go for a walk and talk about it?"

LOLOL

yes

good isn't it?

this is the best thread on MN

Well I am not going back to Pilates just yet, which was my only 'formal' exercise before. So I definitely need a sick note. But I am quite active, I walk a lot and I live in a very hilly place so it's not like I never get my heart racing...

F&V I am doing ok with, our meals take care of the veg, but it's the fruit as snacks that I need to get back on track with. Must Try Harder

Overrun, your dts sound delightful

Mycupoverrunswithlove · 15/02/2007 14:14

Well, are you all ready for the lunch update? I had leftover gratin of jeruselem artichokes and leek from last night. Yummy.
Tatties, they are delightful, I just have a hard time seeing that sometimes

Tatties · 15/02/2007 15:32

Overrun that does sound tasty. I had a tuna sandwich and crisps for lunch Dp led me astray...

But I have had an orange.... Right. That's no good is it? I am off to the shops now to get stocked up on fruit. And I will walk so that'll take care of the exercise

Fillyjonk · 15/02/2007 17:28

oh pmsl

I have an nct meeting, aviatrix

ANYTHING is better than the gym, lets face it

Overrun · 15/02/2007 17:47

I went to see my grandparents when I was supposed to be doing my pilates, knowing full well they would be having their usual pre lunch drinks, and that they would offer me a beer, and that I would accept. And so it came to pass
Did do masses of exercise at the park, pretending to be a lion, chasing boys who were climbing trees. Filly, does that ring a bell, we were in Roath

FrannyandZooey · 15/02/2007 17:50

Right NQC brought me an extremely large orange which she claimed was a pomerillo

and I walked about 5 miles going to and from the station to meet her

so that's me done for the week I reckon

oh and my oh my she is looking fine and bald today

Hi Franny, how are you today?

FrannyandZooey · 15/02/2007 17:59

Hi Overrun I am feeling a lot better than yesterday - possibly because I am getting used to the idea, also I have not had time to mope around, as NQC and her dses have amused me all day.

I thought of starting a celebratory thread about breastfeeding - I feel like it would be nice to do something to mark the end of it.

On the 10 / 10 topic I have a fruit and veg delivery coming from a new place tomorrow, and am half excited half anxious about what will be in it

OP posts:
Overrun · 15/02/2007 18:06

Who are you going to use? I use Riverford, which I can recommend, if thats of any help.
I think its a lovely idea starting a celebratory thread, why not?

NotQuiteCockney · 15/02/2007 18:41

Pomelo . Pomelo. Pomelo. Apparently it's a precursor to the grapefruit? Which is messed up, as I love grapefruit, but I love pomeloes more.

I came home to a pizza.

Oh, and DH received a DVD in the post from a special friend. Double .
