It's back For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and more detailed information here

Aw, but didn't you have a FAB DAY up till you got home, NQC?

Overrun they are local, and only send local produce, so I am scared. I will report in when it arrives.

We did indeed have a fab day. I think both boys are totally exhausted. They had loads of fun with your DS, he's so sweet and really gets into it.

I don't know why your DS looks like your DP only when I try to blow foofs on his belly. I swear I have never tried to blow foofs on your DP's belly.

FrannyandZooey · 15/02/2007 18:53

NQC a "foof" usually means something quite different you know

and I expect it is that look of coy encouragement that is dp's habitual expression

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 15/02/2007 19:05

Sorry, should have said a raspberry I guess?

When I was growing up, 'foof' was the family word for 'fart', as 'fart' was just too vulgar or something.

I always forget you lot say 'foof' for 'vulva'.

I think it was something about the smile he makes then ...

StrangeTown · 15/02/2007 19:16

Oh it's back and everyone is here and it's lovely.
Franny, I am holding you personally responsible for my F&V decline, with your bloody selfish break. . I'm very sorry about your DS weaning, but you have done an amazing thing to last this long.

Avocado, parsnips, toms, but no fruit today. Will get organised and get some healthy shopping now 10/10 is back. Ah 10/10 MN heaven...

Overrun · 15/02/2007 19:39

Just added a lovely Celeriac and Cauliflower soup to my list, lots of goodies in there. I had to post about it first, as was a bit dubious that it would work, but it was fantastic
Can I refer all your lovely people to the product section,

very good for cutting up breakfast fruit on

FrannyandZooey · 15/02/2007 20:25

Ooh, StrangeTown, there you are, I was wondering what had become of you. And where is suzycreamcheese? Did Charlee ever have her baby? and where is Paps????

So good to get this thread going again. I am thinking of getting t-shirts printed:

"WE EAT FRUIT AND GO FOR A WALK AND TALK ABOUT IT" :O

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 15/02/2007 20:28

Frances, I started a separate thread about The Smell. It has gone a bit awry. Shocker. It's in chat, and the title starts with 'Frances'

StrangeTown · 15/02/2007 20:28

Suzy got married and has gone AWOL. I think this will lure her back, to wow us with her exotic recipes.

Paps will be back too..we just needed herding back. Build it and they will come...

Yes, I'll have a medium please as long as it isn't pink.

Tatties · 15/02/2007 21:07

lol at the t-shirt idea

I went to the shop and boy did I get my exercise as ds decided he didn't want to walk home so I was carrying him as well as my rucksack!

Had tomato/veg/lentil sauce with pasta for dinner, have had some dates and am currently munching on grapes (and sipping pink cava left over from last night )

So the soup was a success was it Overrun?

suzycreamcheese · 15/02/2007 21:44

hey, I love cod's summary of this thread and vote that it should be the title for next months 10/10...

strangey..it was you that disappeared not me! and i didnt think any of you tried my recipes, luckily for me i can touch type...or would've been mightly peeved orf..

am glad this is back but can only report that have been swimming reguarly (i salute you pre-school)..really recommend it .. i do not 'get' gyms at all..
my fruity veggie intake is a disaster this week but am visiting so not much control..
nice to see you back F&Z

StrangeTown · 15/02/2007 21:54

Yes, Suzy, I was very amused that Cod came on the thread and sussed us out so quickly.
I bet she comes back though, she won't be able to resist.

FrannyandZooey · 15/02/2007 21:56

Suzy, you read my mind

that is so the title for next week, don't you worry

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 15/02/2007 21:58

Frances was already planning that as the title for next week (and maybe every other week? given how much frances is up cod's arse ....)

VoodooChickenhead · 15/02/2007 21:59

has anyone tried the dragon fruits Tesco are now selling?

NotQuiteCockney · 15/02/2007 22:02

Are dragon fruits ugli fruits?

I met someone today who didn't know what a pomelo was!

FrannyandZooey · 15/02/2007 22:04

at the filthy rude bald lady

ooh look, NQC, it's you: -->

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 15/02/2007 22:04

No, because I'm never surprised. Surely is more like me?

suzycreamcheese · 15/02/2007 22:05

oh, also am glad to know what pomello is now, it looked like grapefruit but was so huge i was afraid it had been pumped w/ hormones!...so next time i will try one...

franny up cod's ass eh..she wont like that isnt it bordering on butt plug talk?..

FrannyandZooey · 15/02/2007 22:06

is you when you saw the contents of ds2's nappy

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 15/02/2007 22:07

Pomelos are really tasty, but there's a lot of pith, and I find the stuff around the segments is a bit bitter, so I just eat the insides of the segments, iyswim.

(I do eat grapefruit like oranges, too, so my taste is probably weird, but these are sweeter than grapefruit.)

Ok, I nearly typed pamplemousse there instead of grapefruit, I really must sleep.

NotQuiteCockney · 15/02/2007 22:07

Yes, I was . Also . Also [fleeing in terror, changing name, moving to another country, all while bald]

VoodooChickenhead · 15/02/2007 22:11

never heard of 'ugli' fruit...dragon fruit really looks quite dragon-y

Hello, VoodooChickenhead, are you someone I haven't met yet, or a name changer? Welcome either way, are you 10 / 10 ing, or a tourist here to laugh at the silly herbivore types?

I am swithering about the gym. I have no excuse this weekend but am really recuctant to go, mostly I think because just before I stopped going, they changed all the machines around and I never really got to grips with the new ones I am crap with change. I am considering booking expensive personal training session over the weekend in order to force myself to go. What do you reckon, good plan?
