**OUCH! BITTEN NIPPS THAT SWELL UP?***

Good lordie, dd had a cold which got her so frustrated as she couldnt breathe to feed that she chomped on my poor nipp, which has now swelled up into a weird white bump/blister thing and is agony to feed from.

She did it a few weeks ago to the same one, and a blood blister appeared at the tip, which disappeared after a few days of very very careful feeds.

But when I feed her she gets distracted by the slightest noise, eg me sneezing, dh coughing on other side of room, and whips her head round while still attatched. Apart from feeding her in a soundproofed box how the heck do I stop her?

She also tugs very hard on the left one, but is an angel on the right?

Any ideas?????????????
ps she is 4.5mths and I am stopping bf at xmas probably...if I can put up with this pain till then!

cancelling it would be good, but its my ds1 birthday on 30/11 and he will be 8, and as he sent his list to santa way back in august i think its too late to cancel it

my umu also has had a letter from santa sent to both ds, i hadnt even though of having one done for ds2 (20 weeks old) good job my mum did or ds1 would have been wondering why only he got one, as he still believes in santa

i have had the staying up late problem for the past 2 nights its been gone 9 before ds2 has gone off to sleep, instead has just layed there bf. and yesterday morning i had to gt him up to do the school run, well i left him asleep in his cot till 8.30 then just plonked him in the pram , still in his sleeping bag and off we walked. BUT this morning he slept till just gone 10am !!!!heaven, my other ds1 played in his room, (i could just about hear his dr who cd playing)so he got big hugs for letting me sleep!!! ds2 did wake for his night feeds but actually went back to sleep again at 7am till 10.
anyway, off to do something not very exciting, like the washing !!

never mind, it helped with the poorly nipple, half of my whole body went numb!!!!!!!

dh took her to IL's for afternoon so I could relax...ended up building a ruddy blanket box to store junk in. Room looks tidier already!!

worley - my dd wakes about 7am for a feed, then goes back to sleep till @ 9.30. It is lovely.

My deep sympathies to fellow nipple bleeders. DD is 10 months and has 3 very sharp teeth. It only happens when I'm not paying attention and the latch slips.

The evil grin though gets me every time. I have to throw (put) her in her cot and leave the room.

i got an extra hour in bed, until my ds1 came in and started moaning the printer was printing the same pokemon picture too many time, we now have about 30 pictures of pikachu for him to colour in. i dont know haow many times he had clicked the print button. is mad my son knowns more about computers than my dp!!

Realised that Bonjela is actually designed to go in her mouth, so shouldn't do my poor nipps any harm.
DD went down fine last night at 8.30, then woke from 1am-3am.
Hoping this is just a phase

went to doctor this morning as left nipple really bad...turns out I have a bacterial infection from when she bit me, and she has no teeth!

got penicillin for a week.

at least an end to the pain is in sight...

ooooooww, that must of been quite bad for them to give you antibiotics!! your poor soul!
ds2 woke almost every hour and a half last night, my dp couldnt believe it, he works 4 nights a week and thought i had been exagerating how often ds2 had been waking, but i still dont get any sympathy!! i really hope ds2 starts to sleep more through the night as i will be a walking zombie when i go back to work , im almost considering working a couple of night duties to get some sleep!! ( i get to sleep in my oncall room and am only called if am needed but i have to be on premsises)

tar for the hugs.. I am going to set up a thread about how the heck you wean off breast to bottle at this point, life is too short to put up with this pain. When I am feeding I go into a literal cold sweat! Its horrible.
I will miss breast feeding though.

im a radiographer, so no surprises when i had my scan i could see what it was !!
im not looking forward to slowing down the amount i bf, i.e hard engourged boobs. i really will miss bf, i fed my ds1 for 5 months but this time i really do enjoy it. (dont get me wrong i did enjoy bf ds1 but im not sure if its because i know this will be my last ds im sad)i was kindof hoping i would win the lottery so i didnt have to go back, but no joy!!(grin)

Worleyone. I'm cutting down my bfs too, but dd is 10 months. As DD is sort of weaning herself off during the day anyway, I'm not noticing hard engorged boobs at all. I know what you mean about being sad though!

Now my left nipp is leaking orange pus, and dd always seems to be starving hungry
and I am trying to feed her from the right side only.
at least I managed to express from the left today, that is an interesting feeling...

I have decided to keep bf lopsided for as long as I can.

I had a brainwave last night to wean dd onto bottles with expressed milk but HV says no way, you will give her nipple confusion.

I thought nipple confusion was an old idea?
She also said to hand xpress from the rotten boob, but I cant get the hang of the old self-milking. Any tips?

Also what receptacle do you sterilise an expresser in and where do they sell them!

i got a tommy tipee expresser and it can be sterilsed in the microwave in the box it came in. im not any good at hand expressing though. has your dd taken any thing froma bottle before? my hv kept telling me to use the bottle aslo for my expressed milk, but as im now saving it and freezing it ready to go to work she was worried he would forget how to use a bottle? But he hasnt , he doesnt seem to be at all bothered what it comes out of. never heard of nipple confusion though!!

ps i got mine from boots. i have been saving all my points and done quite well for xmas presents with them!!
we went to the nursery for a visit this morning, only half an hour but ds2 seemed happy and liked watching the other 3 babies,im only doing 3 half days a week for 3 weeks when i go back so it will be less of a blow!!

Bollocks to nipple confusion and horrible HV's!!!
My dd had ebm bottles as well as bf and the only thing she was confused about was that the bottle didn't yelp when she bit it!!!
Try hand milking in the bath to start with, warm helps and mess won't matter.
I've got an Avent pump, it's good. Do you know any mums around who might have an old one lying around??
Also check your local paper classifieds, people round here are always selling them.
Sterilise with any method usually: mine done in Milton
