**OUCH! BITTEN NIPPS THAT SWELL UP?***

Good lordie, dd had a cold which got her so frustrated as she couldnt breathe to feed that she chomped on my poor nipp, which has now swelled up into a weird white bump/blister thing and is agony to feed from.

She did it a few weeks ago to the same one, and a blood blister appeared at the tip, which disappeared after a few days of very very careful feeds.

But when I feed her she gets distracted by the slightest noise, eg me sneezing, dh coughing on other side of room, and whips her head round while still attatched. Apart from feeding her in a soundproofed box how the heck do I stop her?

She also tugs very hard on the left one, but is an angel on the right?

Any ideas?????????????
ps she is 4.5mths and I am stopping bf at xmas probably...if I can put up with this pain till then!
tar for your help

ive been to a hunt meet...do you mean Nat hunt as in the old scarlet coats? It was incredibly glam, they were drinking cocktails on horseback, although I do like foxes ,and it is cruel from their POV, only 1 in 9 even gets to chase an actual fox...

Jennster · 05/01/2007 13:16

Hi folks. Off sick today so a daytime mumsnetter! Got a migraine aura as I was dropping dd off at nursery and had to sit in carpark for 20 minutes with eyes closed until I could drive. I rang in sick and came home to bed where I slept for 3 hours. I obviously needed it! Feel loads better now although I'm not sure a computer is the best thing for my head but never mind. Am just about to eat pasteurised camembert melted on crusty bread for lunch. I figure it's ok if it's cooked!

Jennster · 05/01/2007 14:23

Married, for 2 yrs this year (when 9 weeks pregnant but been together 11 years in Oct)
have 1 dd, 50 weeks old.

Live in Lancashire
originally from posh bit of Merseyside.

Hobbies- were fell climbing in lakes, going to gym and running. Now no time for anything much really. Oh and holidays and don't get much time for them either. Went to France and Spain this year. France was disaster as spent 6 of 8 nights in hospital with meningitis and spain was great. Did NOTHING, but not enough sun bathing as dd hated the heat.

pets - none

music - was an indie kid, now like most of the stuff on 6music. Last live gig was Franz Ferdinand

Age 28

Pisces

5'10'', size 8 feet

1 sister and 1 brother

Best holidays- Cuba (weeks before getting pregnant) and Matala in Crete. The beach and Sea are amazing there. Rubbish for kids as too choppy and dangerous, but fab little town with NO English people. No organised tours STAY there.

Best memory - Drinking Caiparinhas in Cafe or drinking beer and eating greek salad in bar overlooking beach watching sun go down almost the centre of the bay. We are still in our swimming stuff and crusty with salt water and exhausted and lovely and warm....aahhhh.

Love - Cooking, my cleaner, Tesco Online supermarket shopping, gardening and SUN being fit and healthy and THIN, not having to sterilise bottles, good food, red wine.

Hate - being ill (seems like I haven't been healthy since I had dd), being idle, not getting away on holiday as many times a year as we used to, hangovers.

Macdog · 05/01/2007 15:13

Meant National Hunt racing ie horses, jockeys and hurdles/fences.

Nice to have you here in the daytime Jennster. Hope you're feeling better

VoodooBiltong · 05/01/2007 15:16

aaaaaaaaaaaah!!!

we are all TALL!!!!!!

VoodooBiltong · 05/01/2007 15:21

me and dh climbed a secret waterfall in the Lake district ; it wouldve been a lovelyholiday had I not been 9wks preg and throwing up everywhere. Now I associate the lakes with that horrid morning sickness feeling...dont ever want to go again!!!

Jenn you make me want to go to Crete big-time.
we are prob goingto go away with dd and our closest friends this yr to share a house/cottage in France, I am so nervous about taking her away...I am horrified you had meningitis! Thought you couldnt get it outside the teenage years??!!

I have been so ill after having my dd too, I never had a sick day for 8 whole years prior to having her. Now it is more unusual to feel well!!!!!
My mum was the same, after having each of us she contracted something unusual and odd, she was ill for 6 weeks when she had an ear infection so bad she couldnt stand up, the room spun round and the doc. told her never to hold her new baby (my little sis) as she kept falling over!?!

ooops, Mdog...glad you are + on the old red-coaters. I feel it was so wrong to ban it, beyond stupid and an enormous waste of tax payers money... [hoping no zealot-types get a whiff of this emoticon]

VoodooBiltong · 05/01/2007 15:25

Jenn..................
I got married in Sep 2004

we have been together for 11 years this year too....spooky!

my bridesmaids (4) were in two colours, plum and raspberry!
I wore a strapless ivory quite full dress, we did it in a cute little church in the village dh lived in when he was a boy and had the party at a local country club...

my sisters wedding in less than 4 weeks (Jan 27) is at a country manor, us bridesmaids are in chocolate brown and she is having a chocolate fountain!!!!! It is going to be awesome

ps I have very occasional migraines, I find that traffic fumes can set mine off, and odd patterns of light. Hope you feel better.

pps I also wear contact lenses....

Macdog · 05/01/2007 16:27

mmmm....chocolate fountain...!!!
Quite bright to put the bridesmaids in chocolate frocks

I had a horse drawn carriage at our wedding. A local bloke did it for next to nothing. I'll try and figure out if i can ever post a pic of it

VoodooBiltong · 05/01/2007 19:36

I love love love reading too...just finished Dean Koontz's new thriller 'The Husband' I highly recommend, £3.75 Tesco.
I mainly read thrillers/crime/horror,
my best ever books are

  1. Catcher in the Rye J.D.Salinger
  2. The Haunting Shirley Jackson
  3. The House That Jack Built (dunno who wrote this)

I re-read these three a lot.
I did waste 3 yrs getting an English degree, so I think thats why I read so much.

VoodooBiltong · 05/01/2007 19:39

I am like that when dd goes to sleep on me! I dont move a damn muscle!

she has just gone to bed, and was wide awake when I put her down, but she hasnt made a sound, thats why Im here in the spare room listening frantically while I type

or maybe I am typing frantically while I listen

actually I have no energy to be frantic at all, am trying to summon it up to finish cooking tea, dh is busy washing clothes and folding madly, as we are visiting mil tomorrow and I have final bridesmaid fitting on Sun so we will stay down there the whole w/e...and dd will keep me up the entire time, she never sleeps when she is there and I get a bad back picking her up all night, she seems really heavy now.

worleygig · 05/01/2007 19:40

when i got my student loan one hear i brought myself a dishwasher!! i got fed up working full time and coming home to the washing up also.

i wont have paid my student loan off for another 20 years but hay ho.

went to menorca when i was 17 with cousins nd would love to go again with family. also been to greece, turkey (didnt like it at all) france spain, isle of wight!!

love - where i live, we back on to the fields and also 10 mins from beach.
my job, sort of looking forward to going back.

hate - other peoples kids (you know the ones that are rude/spitefull/bolshy/ mines better than yours) kids that bullied ds1 when he first went to school. MIL sshhh. (she brought me a 2nd hand leg razor for my birthday!!! ergh!!! dp made her take it back, she insisted it was brand new, even though she didnt have the box for it!!)

wish i had of had ds2 sooner, as ds1 so needed a brother nearer his age. but then ds2 wouldnt have been this ds2 would he?

VoodooBiltong · 05/01/2007 19:41

my friend is a vet.nurse, she loves it and she is such a gentle person. It must be hard when the animals have to be put to sleep, Ibet it is always a suprise how the owners react, I have worked in retail so long with Mr. Joe Public Nothing will suprise me. People are SO RUDE to shop staff and to other customers!

VoodooBiltong · 05/01/2007 19:42

ds2 would always have been ds2 whether you had him sooner later or next spring!

they are destined to come

worleygig · 05/01/2007 19:42

omg you have dh who folds??? how did you manage that. mines cant even manage to put his dirty clothes in the basket, so i leave them till he runs out, and hope he will learn. 10 years on and he still hasnt

VoodooBiltong · 05/01/2007 19:44

I want dd to have a sister, ideally, in about 2 yrs if possible.
I dont feel ready at all for another, but then at night I start thinking of little girl's names and I cant sleep! Hormones.

I havent had a period yet, when do they come back?
