**OUCH! BITTEN NIPPS THAT SWELL UP?***

VoodooBanana · 15/11/2006 13:56

Good lordie, dd had a cold which got her so frustrated as she couldnt breathe to feed that she chomped on my poor nipp, which has now swelled up into a weird white bump/blister thing and is agony to feed from.

She did it a few weeks ago to the same one, and a blood blister appeared at the tip, which disappeared after a few days of very very careful feeds.

But when I feed her she gets distracted by the slightest noise, eg me sneezing, dh coughing on other side of room, and whips her head round while still attatched. Apart from feeding her in a soundproofed box how the heck do I stop her?

She also tugs very hard on the left one, but is an angel on the right?

Any ideas?????????????
ps she is 4.5mths and I am stopping bf at xmas probably...if I can put up with this pain till then!
tar for your help

I bet all my maternity leave/pay/holidays are cocked up too...I dont understand where I am up to with holidays at all, I think I just accrued them for the 6mths paid leave, soI wont get any for the unpaid leave i am on now...

I think its April that the law changes to 9mths paid leave?

the caramel thing looks yumscrous MD!
I may be tempted to give that one a go if I can tear myself away from choc coated brazil nuts...74p sale price in Tesco. full price, £6.99.
I also got dd a gorgeous little pink set with a rabbit on the front I had admired for months...got it for £6 today, instead of £12 and it was the last one.

My dh hates me shopping in the sales... I also treated myself to the new Dean Koontz book...it's very good but if I read it while BF dd tries to grab at it. I gave her a long cardborad tube from the inside of some wrapping paper and she got really excited!!! It was so funny, I was laughing down it and tapping her head gently...she loved it.
she is at such a cute age now, I dont want her to get any older.

VoodooBiltong · 03/01/2007 16:11

good lordy, worley, I didnt realise there would be such a difference between breast pumps...

well it sounds like it has all come together for you X

MD what insomnia treatments have you tried? A good one for me is getting up earlier!
ironically I had to today for a man to look at some of our walls, and it was the first day ever I left dd asleep in her cot! Dammit! I couldve had a fab lie-in with her, she is usually up when dh goes to work at 7am, then settles back down.
She is steady on one feed a night now, either at 12am or 4am.

I got her a cat in the hat audio tape for xmas, read by Ade Edmonson, I think we will go and listen to it in a bit.

I have felt a bit bored and frustrated today...think I need some adult conversation.
I took her to a mum&toddler group this morning but noone else was in sight so I slunk home again, I shouldve phoned them first, they are prob. still on xmas break or something.

Macdog · 03/01/2007 16:20

Got a fabby bargain today !!
Was in local nursery shop to buy teething bars for dd's cot (dd in playful mood) when I got this car seat with £40 off!!!! (Working out at a saving of nearly 25%)

To celebrate I've just had a baked potato with tiger prawns, because I'm so worth it !

worleygig · 03/01/2007 16:28

my poor ds2 has had to make do with ds1's old car seats. it was brand new when we got them so i know they arent damaged and they were britax so not too bad.

got ds2 some mew clothes in the sale in boots yesterday too. some little blue cords and a little striped hoodie. hes been sick on those already. and lots of vests also.

i didnt get to sleep till gone 12.20 last night, couldnt sleep and then i had to get up early as ds1 went back to school and it was the first time in weeks that ds2 has not woken up before 8am typical!! he did wake 4 times in the night again so he was probably knackered too.

VoodooBiltong · 03/01/2007 16:29

that is Fab MD I was looking at front facing car seats the otherday at mothercare as dds feet hang right over the edge of her first one, but the woman said not to get a front facer till shes at least 9mths old...

and then patronised me by saying its not the feet i should be worrying about, but her head?!!

so I said, ok, where can I fold her legs up into then????

VoodooBiltong · 03/01/2007 16:31

wow three of us are here all at once!!!!!!!!

it has been intersting to me that no other posters have joined this thread....are we like an exclusive club now...like those weird post-natal ones where the queen of the thread says 'welcome Voodoo' at the start of an answer to me?????????????????
?@????????(^%(&)(()(&(&&(&()

VoodooBiltong · 03/01/2007 16:33

so0 i dont go on any post natal threads anymore! I felt like a worker ant reporting to the queen, or the new kid at school desparately looking for help from the matronly secretary who doenst really have the time or inclination to be nice...........

VoodooBiltong · 03/01/2007 16:34

ah worleygig nice name too

Macdog · 03/01/2007 17:07

I sent an email to Mothercare to complain about the guy in their Glasgow store.
I had gone in to buy a specific seat, similar to the one I got. He then started going on about how he couldn't sell me the seat as I would have to get it fitted, which I couldn't do there so I'd have to go to a shop on other side of Glasgow or to Halfords. He came over as an intimidating bully so I left without car seat and with my self esteem in the gutter.
Mothercare replied and got the Assistant Manager of Glasgow to call back: turns out it was the git in the shop!!!
So therefore was so much more thrilled to get the car seat hassle free in another shop.
(nice to vent that one to people at last!!)

worleygig · 03/01/2007 19:19

i did say hello on to a june 2006 thread but did feel out of place turning up on there! i didnt know about mumsnet when pregnant so didt join then.

p.s ds2 actually rolled on his side today at 6months and a week. lazy sod!! but then he is half the size of most babies his age.

worleygig · 03/01/2007 19:23

have you opened bank accounts yet? i still have that 250 voucher somewhere and havnt got round to doing anything about it.

it is strange no one else popped on here. were all exclusive on here

worleygig · 03/01/2007 20:56

im soo bored
im sort of watching celeb big brother, and i keep finding myself in the kitchen, i jusr ended up eating ds1's selection box stuff by accident, im gonna have to replace it tomorrow before he noticed, he doesnt take after me , he has 3 boxes left already, 2 boxes of biscuits he got and has angel cake in the cuboard also. mmmmm
dp ate all his stuff on xmas eve!!!!

i think i mmight go to bed and read the next catalog that arrived this morning. yes i am that sad/bored

dp is in birmingham visitng hisfriends so its just me and my boys and they are all asleep.

Jennster · 03/01/2007 21:02

I got so confused with all the voucher doo daas that I went for CIS Co-op one coz at least they will invest it ethically.

I sort of gate crashed this thread, and you were all so nice I kept it in my watched thread list. I too didn't know about mumsnet when pregnant, so didn't have a regular to read until I joined the due July 07 one this time. I know what you mean about the queen bee matron though! Have given up trying to remember everybody on it and name checking them. So much easier here!

Jennster · 03/01/2007 21:05

I read the Next catalogue yesterday. Only interested in the maternity stuff though. They take the piss putting it between the petite and underwear sections. Am feeling really crap and fat, getting too big for regular clothes and no where near big enough for mat stuff.

Johnny Tourettes is a wan*er!

worleygig · 03/01/2007 21:42

ahh jennster,
i thought that when i was looking at the maternity clothes they put the section there just to make me even more depressed!!!

i got fed up watching bb. that jonny is a w***. did he push davina or pull her or something? i just saw the body guards rush near her.

i was busy texting my friend who had twins in december. shes all upset that she gave up breast feeding after two weeks, but they have only just got out of scbu and are so tiny. it was hard getting to grips with one baby let alone 2 of them!!
oh well ds2 awake again..off i go

Macdog · 03/01/2007 23:07

I opened dd's with Abbey. Only because they were nicest to me on the phone when I was checking them out.
Sucker for people being nice to me

worleygig · 04/01/2007 16:49

hello all.
been to nursey again to today, he cried when i out his coat on him to go though!!
he woke 3 times last night which was better but he was up from 4.30 till 5.30 talking tohim self and chucked his comforter around his cot.

i have to go to bed EARLY tonight, im having a trial run for work tomorrow, ds1 has to be at schools breakfast club at 7.50 then i have to get to nursery which is only 10 miles but takes me 45 mins to get through traffic last year so hoping it will be better this year as i start work at 8.45.

not looking forward to work but im only doing 3 half days a week unti feb.

Macdog · 04/01/2007 16:52

Hope it all goes well for you tomorrow.
I'll have my fingers crossed

Jennster · 04/01/2007 20:54

Good luck with trial run. A good nights sleep???? What's one of those? Been waking up early and then not going back to sleep. Don't get home from work 'til 7pm so don't usually eat until 8.30-9.00. Need to RELAX.

VoodooBiltong · 04/01/2007 23:17

aaaaah. work. the nightmare of early mornings etc etc. I have worked full time in retail since 1999 doing 45 hour weeks and longer, most weekends, and all the hours of the day and night over the christmasses. I am so so glad we took the tough decision that we could afford it for me to take a whole year off...even though now we are so bloody skint .
I am going to do 16 or 17hours when I go back...to claim the best working tax credit thing, but I can choose what position I go back as, supervisory or sales...both have their benefits and issues, and I will be able to choose what hours I want really, but they have to be when dh is home to be with dd, so its evenings and weekends,
8.5 hours sunday, 4.5 hours fri night 4hours sat seems the most logical, but will make weekends very tiring...or I can spread it through the week but I think I will get confused...
