I had a baby with the same condition, but it was inoperable. Always strikesa chord with me. My thoughts are with Lucy - what a lot to go through at an early age.
How about a corner part of one of those corner sofas? Wish I had one to offer you. Maybe we could lobby a local shop for you?

pebblemum · 08/08/2006 20:20

Have just watched the clip. What a gorgeous little thing. My thoughts are with her and her family, hope she is home soon!

Hope everything workd out for you too Misdee

Somanybabyseagulls · 08/08/2006 21:28

Misdee, does it have to be an armchair? Clutching at straws here but could you re-vamp a directors chair or something similar?

Thinking of you, Peter and of course Lucy, saw her at the Transplant Walk last month.

heavenis · 09/08/2006 13:35

Any more news on Lucy ? Is there a site we can link to for updates ?
I hope everything goes well for you today misdee and that you soon adjust to having Peter home full time.

misdee · 09/08/2006 13:38

i'm getting my updates via emma on heartline. i know a few other mumsnetters are over there, so they can update for me.

Lucy is doing well, and they are hoping to get her off the vent today.

psssst hunker, you are going to be my update person as well as sparkly when our time comes ok

Misdee - don't know if this helps but Morrisons have an executive type chair & stool (chair reclines & swivels) for £80. You put it together yourself so you could leave the left arm off??
Hope everything is OK with you and Peter and all is well with Lucy (((hugs)))

Heartmum2Jamie · 10/08/2006 08:32

Hi all,

I told Misdee that I would come bearing updates on Lucy. I also want to thank you all for your kind messages, it is very heartwarming and I know that Lucy'a parents appreciate every last one.

This update is from last night. I should imagine that we won't get so many now that Lucy is awake.

So tonight - more GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!

Lucy came off the vent at 7.45pm tonight and is very angry!! She wants a drink!!! Poor lamb - at least shes showing her strength! She's awake and alert now which is nice and has been looking at some balloons she's been sent .

She's had a settled afternoon all in all. Has puffy eyelids but thats what happens with morphine anyway. Shes on a frusemide IV to help her wee a bit more and now the vent is out I'm sure she'll start feeling a lot happier about things

heavenis · 10/08/2006 08:36

Glad she is heading in the right direction. Still sending good vibes for her.

So glad to hear she's improving . She sounds like a real fighter. Lots of love and luck to her and her family.

kimi · 10/08/2006 09:10

What wonderful news.

aitch71babe · 10/08/2006 10:05

brilliant news... so fantastic to hear that she is cross about not getting a drink. that must mean the moon and the stars to her parents.

HarrassedDad · 10/08/2006 20:58

That's brilliant news misdee! She had a long wait. I am so pleased for her and for her parents. She is a very brave girl.

Thursday pm update:

Lucy's parents have said said Lucy has not had such a great day today. But its not drastically bad by any means either!!

She's had a pulmonary artery line out and had medazalam (sp?) for that which makes her incredibly (in their words!) 'crabby'! And while she is getting annoyed and crabby her sats drop and pressures go all over the place!

She has also had 2 episodes of very increased heart rate (174bpm) and they don't know why yet so are watching that carefully.

They havent managed to get her up or get the chest drains out as it was left till late in the afternoon before anything was done with her today.

But shes ok and these arent major setbacks by any means - just Lucy letting everyone know she's here and in charge I think!!

Nanou1 · 11/08/2006 09:42

Thank you so much for all those updates. Nice to see Lucy is a fighter .
