Changes2024 · 05/07/2024 07:44

When will labour start to make changes?

I think people will be very disappointed as will take a long time for things to change

LumiB · 05/07/2024 07:46

Moat likely when first budget comes out in autumn

Overthebow · 05/07/2024 07:47

What changes are you expecting to see? I don’t think there’s going to be anything huge.

DustyLee123 · 05/07/2024 07:48

I can’t see there being much noticeable difference TBH, they’re both as bad as each other.

HappiestSleeping · 05/07/2024 07:49

Starmer is hopefully a considered man but will start making adjustments soon. I think we will see when they have their first budget.

Pigeonqueen · 05/07/2024 07:50

At the first budget. But having a read of Labours pledges I can’t actually see what they’re planning to do, it just waffles on about cutting nhs waiting lists, more teachers etc. How are they going to suddenly do that?

I was just asking generally to be honest

There won’t be any changes. He’ll whack the VAT on private schools as a big flagship move and then everything else will carry on crumbling as it has been.

NamechangersRuleHere · 05/07/2024 07:53

When we start paying more tax.

traytablestowed · 05/07/2024 07:55

I see a change already! A whole load of corrupt, self-serving, under-qualified idiots have had their arses handed to them and are now seeking alternative employment.
Onwards and upwards!

midgetastic · 05/07/2024 07:57

Hopefully some wealth taxes to start to undo the rot of the last 14 years

Sone serious trade negotiations with the EU

But it takes time to undo damage caused by 14 years of slashing

NamechangersRuleHere · 05/07/2024 07:53

When we start paying more tax.

About time the rich stopped seeing their wealth rise whilst the poor were using food banks to survive

FinalCeleryScheme · 05/07/2024 07:58

There’s very little any party could do. The economy will improve but it will be a slow process and big spending increases aren’t possible. Virtually every problem the Tories faced and failed on Labour will fail on.

Be interesting to see if doctors, teachers, rail workers etc stop striking even with no more money.

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 05/07/2024 07:59

There won't be any large scale changes. Labour are not going to revolutionise the country.

LumiB · 05/07/2024 08:00

I predict the first budget will be..we got I to office saw how bad it is, worse than we thought and now we have to raise ur taxes...that will be the usual spin

Alarae · 05/07/2024 08:00

They've said they won't call a budget without OBR findings (which take about 11 weeks I believe) so don't bet on any budget before at least then.

Since it's so close to the usual Autumn budget, they may as well just wait for that (or perhaps bring forward to October).

socks1107 · 05/07/2024 08:00

I doubt we will stop striking. Hopefully now my very delayed pay rise will be put forward to the unions

Well.... only one way.... taxes will go up.... that'll be fine for the rich but is going to hurt the middle income people a lot.... that is basically everyone over minimum wage... they done see the difference between the rich person on £25k and £250k

Theredjellybean · 05/07/2024 08:02

VAT on private schools will be pretty immediate and they have said three big announcements about planning and housing in first few weeks..as they have already announced they will let council agree to building on green belt I imagine it will be that.
Otherwise this "change" they hyped so much and so many have pinned their votes and hopes on is basically hyperbole.
They don't have the money to make anything feel better ...until they hike taxes which they know will lose them many of the voters who have changed from conservative to labour.

I actually feed bad for people who believe there will be huge change and fast.

THIS. I don’t have a huge salary. But I earn a bit more than the average salary. I am single. No savings. I know my disposable income is going to drop and I don’t have any other support.

Looking at you Truss and Reese-Mogg 😂😂

crumblingschools · 05/07/2024 08:07

Teachers pay and hopefully full funding of it needs to be agreed soon

Whilst a whole new load of them have just moved in… fabulous. All politicians are the same, nothing much will change at all.

Same. I can’t believe people are so naive as to think things will actually be different.
