General election 2024

So much talk about Reform, are people panicking?

equisetum · 02/07/2024 15:43

All across the boards people appear to be scared of just how popular they are.
If it's not panic, then why the desperation to tell anyone voting for them, that they are all racists?
Reform voters BTW, just very interested that no other parry is having such animated discussions. If they weren't becoming so popular, nobody would be talking about it.

Don't be silly.

Everybody knows the truth.

Lunde · 02/07/2024 15:59

I don't know - it's quite unusual for a party to have 2 of their own MP candidates quit only 2 days before an election because of racism and misogyny

Hugesunflower · 02/07/2024 16:00

Their popularity is spread across the country rather than in a few places. I think
they will have very few MPs, if any at all.

AnitaLoos · 02/07/2024 16:02

I can’t imagine why so many repulsive racists who fantasise about shooting asylum seekers and rounding up and killing their families are Reform candidates. It’s a complete mystery. 🙄

fedupdontknowwheretoputmyself · 02/07/2024 16:03

Reasonable people don't want to see them do well because they're far right. Sure, you might agree with some of their policies, but that doesn't mean that they're worth voting for. Farage is an oily snake and the people who are attracted to this party are mostly brexiteer racists. Why did they give the public the chance to vote in the referendum? It's been a disaster. It's also going to be a disaster if Reform do really well. Who wants a far right party to do well? They're scumbags.

Reform are not about saving the countryside or preserving the culture of these islands. They're grubby little fascists and Farage is nothing but an opportunist who's out to feather his own nest. He supports Putin and Trump ffs.

RatHole · 02/07/2024 16:12

People are so desperate for change and Farage has managed to be open about the stuff that most politicians are weaselling away from.
I suspect that many feel the racism within the party is fair collateral if NF can carry out what he says he is (he won’t).

My prediction is that Labour will get in, there’ll be temporary improvement in services, then a downhill shambles which will turn more people even harder right, which will either push Farage into more popularity and/or push the Tories further right in the process.

The constant insults towards reform voters will push them more to reform. (See Brexit).
Unless the left get their perfect and not a little sanctimonious heads out of their arses we are headed to hard right territory.

In the meantime open and clear discussions need to be had about immigration and the affects on the country (and not dismissed as racism yet again by those who live in places where they’re unaffected), and about women’s rights, without endless cries of transphobia.

I’ve always considered myself as a leftie, always voted Labour. Now I’m politically homeless and will be spoiling my vote as there’s literally no fucker to vote for!

Are you talking about the undercover actor?
Seems to be so much anger, and name calling. Racists, misogynists, repulsive. Wow!
It seems you believe everything you read!

It's part of a wider global move to the right that is worrying. Look at what happened last time the right wing were voted into a major European country.

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 02/07/2024 16:15

The board is rife with Reform plants today. It's like Claig all over again.

equisetum · 02/07/2024 16:16

Plants? Been here for years? Talk about plants, there have been a fair few planted into the reform party to disrupt!

I’m not even in the UK and it scares me that they might be popular.

foxredlab101 · 02/07/2024 16:19

As a female I am scared about what life would be like if they got in.

There attitude to women is appalling

Tilly22222 · 02/07/2024 16:20

They will get 2 or 3 seats at most- no one is panicking about that. Tories are panicking that they will split the right wing vote and let Labour in.

They are a bunch of racist extremists pretending to be concerned little englanders. I sincerely hope that Farage finally winning a seat (if he does) does not lead to his acceptance into the Conservative party.

PToosher · 02/07/2024 16:26

I'll be voting Reform, plenty of people I know that previously voted Conservative or Labour will also be voting Reform.
No LibDems though as they've already infested the Tory party and are happy with it's current state.

No33 · 02/07/2024 16:32

You haven't seen the other posts about labour and the Tories?

Okay 👍🏼

Manhere2024 · 02/07/2024 16:35

There’s a brilliant article here by a Zoomer about why he/she is voting for Reform:

www.mattgoodwin.org/p/the-uniparty-has-nothing-to-offer

AnitaLoos · 02/07/2024 16:37

Farage is a frog-faced Fascist who adores Putin ffs.

Manhere2024 · 02/07/2024 16:38

E.g.:

”Personally, I don’t think Nigel Farage and Reform have all the answers to these problems but what they represent, to Zoomers like me, is what many of us now see as a final chance for the under-40s to actually push for, if not demand, something close to the standard of living our parents and grandparents enjoyed. By rejecting Net Zero, by tearing up the expanding welfare state, by stopping millions of mainly low-skilled immigrants from moving to Britain to absorb more of the rapidly shrinking pie, and by actually prioritising British people, they do offer the kind of radical alternative that simply does not exist anywhere else on the political landscape.”

You haven't answered my question?

Adores Putin? Link please to your evidence that he 'adores' Putin please.

Anything else you believe from social media?

I think it’s quite normal to be angry at racists. And yes, I am scared at how popular they’re becoming. Because I don’t want to live in a country of racists. It’s not complicated to understand.

Oh yes I've seen those, but can't understand the hysteria about a party who apparently won't be getting many votes on Thursday.

I believe they will most definitely get a great many votes. Maybe not so many seats, but certainly across the board they will. That will send a message of how unhappy the electorate are, with the woke nonsense that we have had to put up with for years!

OP posts:
thestudio · 02/07/2024 16:49

I don't think there's any mystery here. People are accusing the party they perceive as being racist and misogynist of being racist and misogynist.

They perceive it because of things that that the leader and others in the party have previously said.

It's honestly very straightforward. I'm surprised you're confused.

Not confused in the least. More like bemused.
