General election 2024

So much talk about Reform, are people panicking?

All across the boards people appear to be scared of just how popular they are.
If it's not panic, then why the desperation to tell anyone voting for them, that they are all racists?
Reform voters BTW, just very interested that no other parry is having such animated discussions. If they weren't becoming so popular, nobody would be talking about it.

He is from Reigate isn’t he so working class Parents from Surrey? Just because he isn’t anymore, not quite the same as attending Dulwich College with a Dad who was a Stockbroker. Is Keir pretending he is anything other than he is - I don’t think so whereas the London fella down the pub, say what I mean and mean what I say act Nige has going on is just a pretence!

and we certainly know about his qualifications and massive intelligence.

Keir, pompous? I mean, as if he was responsible for the name his parents gave him? What's that got to do with his ability to be PM?

I read an article in the Guardian about Nigel admitting in his memoirs that he didn’t do very well in his A levels. The hypocrite went on and on about Grade inflation during the Covid period. He probably has a chip on his shoulder about his own mediocre results.

Just like Brits living in France, as well as most educated and successful people, are terrified of the popularity of RN, Marine Lepen and Jordan Bardella, the son of Italian immigrants. I am old enough to remember the racism and discrimination the Italians suffered in France at the time.

Keir was named after a famous politician deliberately I thought. So the parents wanted him to be political from the start.

So his parents come from a generation where it would be very usual and typical to be political especially if you did some kind of trade, hardly a shocker. My parents were young Socialists, my Dad went on to be an Economist, my Mum a teacher but they both had working class parents they were the first to go to university in their families.

There must be a journalist or two on MN who could make it their 'duty' to find out for us. What A'Levels did he do, and what Grades did he get. I'd like to know.

Fairfuture · 03/07/2024 17:43

Be very careful with Farage. I saw him on tik tok today saying that he agrees with Andrew Tate so on women's rights definitely anti.

Along with all the other chips! Enough to fill a pan.

He’s just like Johnson. A loner who uses politics to prove his worth and that he counts. Except his end of the pier act is lot better. He’s had more practice

Starmers voice is irritating. Sounds like he needs to blow his nose. And sooo monotone, I seriously dread listening to that for the next 5 years. Still, perhaps I can play his voice when I want to fall asleep at night.

Whereas Nige’s dulcet tones you could listen to all night long?

Hasn’t he just got an authentic working class Surrey accent.

RetroTotty · 03/07/2024 17:55

It's funny how different voices affect us. Am horrified by Trump as both politician and person, but love his voice. Same with Farage.

equisetum · 03/07/2024 17:57

Love Farages voice. It's certainly not monotone.

Not for Trump though, apparently he never drank, smoked or took drugs. Just the sex for him. And the orange fake tan.

Either of then are hardly Justin Trudeau- he’s got a nice voice and good looks but at the end of the day this is all irrelevant to who is running the country.

I think all the people who voted Brexit will be voting reform. That’s quite a lot!

Well thank goodness all the things the Brexit campaigners promised proved to be true.

Fool me once, shame on you - fool me twice, shame on me.

Also, I don’t think so, this anecdotal but lots of my Mum’s older neighbours voted for Brexit (not her) and they are definitely not voting for Reform! Maybe one or two. I popped out an hour ago and Reform had set up a table at a commuter Station that I live near, they were asking all these commuters whether they will be voting Reform and me- I don’t hear anybody say, ‘yes’

equisetum · 03/07/2024 20:57

Well tomorrow will be very interesting and we shall see the results of just how popular Reform is. I'll be looking at total votes across the country, no matter how many/few seats they get.
I believe there will be some surprises across the parties.

Nah, we had all this hullabaloo with UKIP, remember? A load of hot air driven by one personality. Once Farage leaves Reform (which he inevitably will - perhaps even mid way through his term if Trump waggles his eyebrows at him) they’ll sink back into the cesspit they came from.
