I'm no fan of this man but this is just not cricket!!

A many appears to throwing rock like stuff from a bin at Farage

Thankfully the rocks missed him and I hope everyone else is safe on that bus

IMO, Farage should now get police protection

I hate the man, but that is not the way to protest against him, yes, he needs protection

frankentall · 11/06/2024 13:33

Well OP posts with usual lack of clarity, some things never change.

frankentall · 11/06/2024 13:34

"IMO, Farage should no get police protection"

Are you Scottish OP?

LlynTegid · 11/06/2024 13:35

It is unacceptable. Hopefully the person who did this is prosecuted, and it does not take years for the court case.

RosaRoja · 11/06/2024 13:35

Yeah, this isn’t right. I despise what he stands for, but people need to campaign without fear of personal safety. Two MPs have been killed whilst doing their job, this is serious.

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 11/06/2024 13:35

Labour voter here but beware cheering this on. We should not allow violence against political figures to show disapproval to become the norm. Or violence against anyone for that matter.

It can’t take years because there are time limits.

LauderSyme · 11/06/2024 13:36

That person will rightfully face criminal consequences. You can't chuck rocks at people in a civilised society.

Shame Nigel's ideas about what makes a society civilised are so limited but thank goodness he lives to spew bilge another day.

Gingerkittykat · 11/06/2024 13:36

Building waste is a lot more likely to cause injury than a milkshake so is clearly not acceptable.

Does he not already have police protection? There were police on the ground who quickly arrested the perpetrator.

I totally agree
As I said, I'm no fan of Farage but attacking politicians is never the way forward

IMO, those caught attacking any politician must serve a min jail term! of lets say 3 year years and I the greater the offence the greater the jail term!!

I think it's clear enough, I can cope with a little typo slip up, I have enough of them myself

Using violence to suppress political ideas you don’t like is almost the definition of fascism isn’t it?

I’m in full agreement. 2 MPs have been murdered and many more attacked in recent years. I think an automatic 3 year sentence for violence against MPs would be a good deterrent.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 11/06/2024 13:46

FFS - show your distaste at the ballot box, what is wrong with people

BetsyBobbin · 11/06/2024 13:48

The replies under the tweet are priceless, particularly this one:

"Bring back National Service so people can learn how to hit the target when they throw stuff at Farage.".

Zero sympathy for him: xenophobic, divisive, racist fascists belong in jail

Fascists? You mean.. people who use violence to suppress political discourse they dislike? Like.. what you’re approving of here?

BetsyBobbin · 11/06/2024 13:51

Hopefully one day people will learn, or finally acknowledge, that him, Trump and the likes are bankrolled by Rupert Murdoch who is evil incarnate. His purpose is only to cause division and hatred in the world.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 11/06/2024 13:52

Zero sympathy for him: xenophobic, divisive, racist fascists belong in jail

So...imprisonment without trial for people whose political views you don't like? let me think, what does that remind me of?

BetsyBobbin · 11/06/2024 13:53

@MaryMaryVeryContrary Farage preaches hate, so it's only expected that he's receiving hate back.

Reap what you sow and all that, babes 😉

Desdemona44 · 11/06/2024 13:54

Morally I know that it's wrong, but at the same time I can't summon up even the slightest sliver of sympathy for farage.

The right wing like personal responsibility, so maybe he should take responsibility not to be such an objectionable cunt that people want to chuck projectiles at him...

I guess you're happy with the rise of far right, aka, fascism as recently proved by the results of the European Parliament elections?

Thought so 👍🏼

Nothing extreme is good, neither the far right nor the far left. Unfortunately the world today seems beyond divided and people forget that only 80 years ago there was a world war caused by Farage's idol, the very nice Mr Hitler.

YellowHairband · 11/06/2024 13:58

I think you can simultaneously not have any sympathy for him, while also thinking that it's not acceptable.

Like if a violent murderer got murdered in prison - I wouldn't necessarily have any personal sympathy for them, but would still generally feel that violence in prison isn't acceptable. Not that I'm comparing Farage to a murderer, it was just the comparison that came to mind where you can disagree with the action without particularly sympathising with the victim.

SeverinaVichenza · 11/06/2024 13:58

There are no bad tactics, only bad targets.
