I'm no fan of this man but this is just not cricket!!

A many appears to throwing rock like stuff from a bin at Farage

Thankfully the rocks missed him and I hope everyone else is safe on that bus

IMO, Farage should now get police protection

So many ignorant replies here.
Farage is a hate monger. He has extreme right wing views that, sadly are given far too much credit by the media in this country.
The whole of Europe is becoming increasingly Right Wing with Far right parties gaining in the polls across Europe, and Trump sure to win in the USA.
The MPs that were attacked, were attacked by the far right, not anti fascists.
Farage and his ilk reap what they sow.
No Paseren ✊🏽✊

Morally I know that it's wrong, but at the same time I can't summon up even the slightest sliver of sympathy for farage.

The right wing like personal responsibility, so maybe he should take responsibility not to be such an objectionable cunt that people want to chuck projectiles at him...

Those are my feelings too, I know it's wrong but it couldn't have happened to a nicer person 😅

SeverinaVichenza · 11/06/2024 14:01

For those who agree with political violence against your enemies, do you think it is also justifiable to attack reform voters as well?

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 11/06/2024 14:01

I guess you're happy with the rise of far right, aka, fascism as recently proved by the results of the European Parliament elections?

Thought so 👍🏼

Congratulations. At least you've mastered basic thinking, even if it is dead wrong. Give it a few years and you might move onto to complex stuff.

ilovesooty · 11/06/2024 14:02

I don't agree with putting people under physical threat however reprehensible they are. He should get the same protection as any other public figure. If he feels he needs additional protection he can pay for it. I also think that attacking him gives him the scope to paint himself as a victim.

I guess you haven't learned about the recent news in Europe? I could post some links here but I'm really not doing your work for you, everyone has access to Google in this day and age

So... it's fine to actually violently attack anyone you disagree with.

But if someone doesn't agree with you politically, it's literal evil violent hatred?

Gosh. I wonder why some are increasingly turning to the right, when the left holds such absolutely terrifying kind views.

DogInATent · 11/06/2024 14:06

The police were present, you can see them react and detain the suspect in the BBC footage. You wouldn't expect to see police on the campaign bus, so what additional police protection do you propose?

Farage usually has his own private security, who are ridiculously ineffectual. Their awareness and lack of reaction to the Clacton milkshake is laughable - one of the reasons that the idea it was a stitch-up was so believable is because they fail to spot something so obvious it looks like it's staged.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 11/06/2024 14:07

If he wasn't such a cunt, people wouldn't throw things at him 🤷🏻‍♀️

BetsyBobbin · 11/06/2024 14:08

I'm not a leftist, far from it, but unfortunately a large number of people seem completely incapable to accept (or don't want to accept, really) that Farage is a hate monger. You preach hate, you get hate, simple as.

Brain washing has gone way too far, past the point of no return

I think you’re a cunt for that opinion, does that justify me lobbing rocks at your face?

Teado · 11/06/2024 14:10

More publicity for Mr Farage whereafter he gets to frame himself as the champion of the people against the lawless, woke rabble. Well done, thrower! <slow handclap>

Topseyt123 · 11/06/2024 14:10

I have no sympathy for twatty Farage, but the place to make the protest is at the ballot box - i.e. don't vote for him or for Reform.

Throwing missiles at people is unacceptable though, whoever they are. As others have said, MPs have died in the past just going about their business. I think we could be at the point where they will need personal bodyguards in order to go out and about soon. Or maybe we've already passed that.

He may be that as are some others but to have missiles etc thrown at you - not om watch, right!!

FYI - I'm Asain and have a dislike for his politics but no one deserves missiles thrown at them or milkshakes

When the milkshake was thrown at him the other day - he did not know what it was as it could have been something much worse

IMO, anyone throwing/attacking any politician should be locked up for a min of three years and this may make some think twice

Hate Farage. Don’t agree that anything should be thrown at any politician, regardless of their views.

Nothing extreme is good, neither the far right nor the far left. Unfortunately the world today seems beyond divided and people forget that only 80 years ago there was a world war caused by Farage's idol, the very nice Mr Hitler.

Could you provide a reference for your last point please?

BluntFatball · 11/06/2024 14:21

Isn't it funny how the same types of people who would weep for terrorists and bleat for the rights of sex offenders and pedos are the same people who are deliriously happy when anyone with a different world view to them is attacked, injured or killed.

You should look a little closer to home for that fascist hatred you claim to be against...it's much closer than you think.

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 11/06/2024 14:22

BetsyBobbin · 11/06/2024 13:53

@MaryMaryVeryContrary Farage preaches hate, so it's only expected that he's receiving hate back.

Reap what you sow and all that, babes 😉

Yes let’s all be just like Farage! 🥂’babes’

And assaulting people because you dislike their views isn’t extreme?

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 11/06/2024 14:23

YellowHairband · 11/06/2024 13:58

I think you can simultaneously not have any sympathy for him, while also thinking that it's not acceptable.

Like if a violent murderer got murdered in prison - I wouldn't necessarily have any personal sympathy for them, but would still generally feel that violence in prison isn't acceptable. Not that I'm comparing Farage to a murderer, it was just the comparison that came to mind where you can disagree with the action without particularly sympathising with the victim.

Only unintelligent people can’t square this, IMO

RubySloth · 11/06/2024 14:26

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 11/06/2024 13:49

Fascists? You mean.. people who use violence to suppress political discourse they dislike? Like.. what you’re approving of here?

Bravo... some people's logic is unbelievable.

You know you can go and edit your balls-ups? Especially ones like that which reverse the meaning?

Sarahconnor1 · 11/06/2024 14:29

Will throwing things at Farage etc al help prevent the rise of the right in the UK or will it encourage it?

I know where I'd put my money. Silencing people through violence or threats of violence is a dangerous game to play.

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 11/06/2024 14:29

RubySloth · 11/06/2024 14:26

Bravo... some people's logic is unbelievable.

They’re simply not very bright in my opinion.

The same people who accuse you of being a Tory if you dare to criticise Labour.

People whose brains are not capable of anything more than tribalism and black/white thinking.

It spoils the quality of debate on here.

MaryMaryVeryContrary · 11/06/2024 14:30

Besides this will make Farage a daring hero who is being ‘persecuted for his beliefs’ to his followers. A huge own goal.
