I'm no fan of this man but this is just not cricket!!

A many appears to throwing rock like stuff from a bin at Farage

Thankfully the rocks missed him and I hope everyone else is safe on that bus

IMO, Farage should now get police protection

I find it very hard to have any sympathy for him, even though I don't agree with throwing rocks.

Pissing this many people off was a dangerous game.

Besides this will make Farage a daring hero who is being ‘persecuted for his beliefs’ to his followers. A huge own goal.

only in the minds of those who have already made their minds up to support him

TBH - at times years ago I got taken in by some of what he said but now is is more open and blunt re his stance, etc - definitely not for me - but politicians should not be attacked for their views

Yes that’s why I said ‘his followers’

I do feel for him and those that protect him as others could get injured as well as hi

those missiles were large bits of concert judging by where they were picked up from and the loud thud on the side of the bus on impact - imagain if that hit him in the face or head or one of the others on the bus or for that matter the people below/outside the bus inc some police officers - not right at all

I dislike Farage and everything he stands for.

But violence is never the answer. If you don’t like his words, retaliate with words not with weapons.

Crikeyalmighty · 11/06/2024 14:39

I'm quite sure the guy can pay for protection himself, with all the new 'members' paying£25 a time into his limited company bank account. He's taken a million or so in last few weeks- bear in mind it's a company- he can take as much as he likes out of it. Apart from Tice, not answerable to anyone.

He's only got himself to blame if he isn't paying for it- maybe he thinks the more shit he takes- the more people think 'poor Nigel' - and the more 'donations' he gets- who knows!! Just as they used to think 'poor Boris' - these grifters are quite smart cookies when it comes to lining their pockets. Just pay up Nige!!

To be brutally honest, I wouldn't be that bothered if NF did get hit in the head with a large rock. He's never endeared himself to me in any way. If he wants to go around chatting racist nonsense, it's a bit rich to expect me to then worry about his wellbeing.

milveycrohn · 11/06/2024 14:40

It is not acceptable in a democracy to use physical violence against any politician you disagree with.
The perpetrator should be prosecuted and then a sentence strong enough to deter others.
If you do not like someone's political beliefs then explain why and convince enough people by your arguments.

Crikeyalmighty · 11/06/2024 14:40

If I can add though- I would come down very hard indeed on the idiots actually causing trouble-

They can't use their words. Half of the time they couldn't even tell you one of his policies or even tell you what it is he has said that they disagree with.

I'm not talking about those who have read what he says, and disagree with him and his opinions. They tend to use words and facts to do that. As you can in a lawful, democratic society.

Exactly the same as those that hate JK Rowling that have never even read her letter. They are the modern day football fans, following the crowd to tell them what it is ok to take all that hate and rage inside them out on.

milveycrohn · 11/06/2024 14:43

@Crikeyalmighty
I think there are specific rules about what you can do with party funds And lining one 's pockets is not one of them.
Hence all the fuss over the SNP

People have to endear themselves to you to be worthy of safety from violence? Crikey.

Startingagainandagain · 11/06/2024 14:45

if you constantly embrace hatred, racism, Fascism and xenophobia and contributed to the lies that brought the Brexit disaster to this country, then I don't think you should not be surprised if some people hate your guts...

No sympathy from me.

I will keep my sympathy for the people who faced/face an increase in hate crimes because of Farage's poisonous rhetoric. I don't think Farage is a 'Politician' either. He is a man with dubious allegiances who only has his own interests at heart, not the country's and to me he is a dangerous extremist.

As someone has said above: you reap what you sow...

I think the issue is hes objectionable on a completely different level to your garden variety twat. He's holds a huge amount of responsible for the downward spiral our country is in, hence the difficulty to muster up any sympathy. When a rock is flying at his head it seems justified for a lot of people on an emotional level.

Churchview · 11/06/2024 14:48

He had police protection didn't he? In that video there were definitely police between Farage and the man throwing stuff.

Incidentally, why is Farage riding around Barnsley on the top of a bus? It's like he won the FA cup or something.

Exactly.

I don't want him to get injured. But if he's going to behave perilously badly around very angry people, I certainly wouldn't spend my time feeling sorry for him.

TheFairyCaravan · 11/06/2024 14:51

It was a cup and a piece of wet cement that was thrown at him. Obviously nothing should have been thrown but let's not pretend it was something that it wasn't.

Living up to the name there Alice.

Do people not realise how thick this stance makes them look?

There are a lot of people I don't agree with. Grow up and use your fucking words. When did we get to this stage of not being bothered about violence if it's against someone who isn't in our 'tribe'?!

When you take this attitude, don't you consider what will happen if everyone else does too?

How many people disagree with you?

What if a mothers son or daughter hadn't come home this day due to a rock falling on their head, perhaps they could have been a bystander or someone paid to protect the political figure in question.

How can you possibly consider yourself kind or even human if you refuse to condone violence that could and will probably lead to this outcome.

Just here trying to imagain large bits of concert hitting Farage in the face.

Maddy70 · 11/06/2024 14:53

I hate the man with a passion but no one should be attacked for going about their business

DrCoconut · 11/06/2024 14:54

I really dislike the man and what he stands for but his ability to speak and campaign is an important right (as is mine to ignore him). Using violence against those we disagree with is not the right approach (assuming they are just talking not attacking anyone themself).

AliceCallous · 11/06/2024 14:55

You're being needlessly dramatic in ascribing all kinds of terrible characteristics upon me when I haven't said anything all that outrageous.

I don't think anyone should throw things at him. But no, I don't have any compassionate response in me towards him. If he wants to fuck around and find out, that's his choice. I won't be ruing the consequences of his actions.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 11/06/2024 14:57
