I'm no fan of this man but this is just not cricket!!

A many appears to throwing rock like stuff from a bin at Farage

Thankfully the rocks missed him and I hope everyone else is safe on that bus

IMO, Farage should now get police protection

@medianewbie

"Generally, threats against MPs are wrong of course but wasn't the rumour that the lass who threw the milkshake last week was the girlfriend of a Farage team member? ('all publicity is good')"

There were indeed a number of posters on MN trying to spread the false rumour (for their own purposes) that the young woman who threw the milkshake was part of the Farage team.

The woman who has been charged was Victoria Thomas Bowen who had nothing and never has to do with Farage or Reform or UKIP.

The conspiracy theory was that it was Emily Hewertson who had supported the Brexit campaign :

As much as I dislike Farage, this was a pretty pathetic smear attempt to falsely claim it was staged and disappointing to see so many posters spreading false information.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that. Thank you for posting it. Facts are always good.

Unfortunately "A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."
Winston Churchill

But a bit disappointing to see so many MN posters deliberately spreading false conspiracy theories/ information simply because it was Nigel Farage.

Please think before you post utter nonsense with respect!!!

Please learn where the edit button is OP, and also how to punctuate what you’re saying. Eats, shoots and Leaves. I’m still imagining someone having a concert being thrown at them.

Broadly speaking, I agree with @Echobelly, as long as no physical harm is done then I don’t see the problem. NF and his party are deeply divisive and fan the flames of hatred, and should they gain power (thankfully unlikely) I would think there would actually be a lot of physical violence towards, well anyone who’s not white British. That’s the dog whistle he’s blowing although his supporters will never be able to admit that basic fact.

Many supporters of this guy are perfectly fine with asylum seekers drowning to death. You’ve only got to look at the comments section of a great many publications to see this. This is the message he supports and enables, and he’s absolutely fine with that; it’s his grift as he’s done well from it.

So although I don’t wish actual physical harm to him, a milkshake or egg is a statement I can completely understand, given what the man himself stands for.

@Acrossthemountains

"Can't find many fucks to give about farage getting stuff thrown at him."

It's scary that there are people that dismiss physical assault so long as it's against people whose political views they disagree with.

You should be more scared of what farage stands for, rather than being scared that i don't care if people throw stuff at him.

No it's not a statement it's physical assault now matter how much the hard left violent thugs would like to dress it up.

Farage is just the symptom, surely the real issue is why so many people are thinking of voting for Reform and what can be done to address this.

But the violent thuggery of the hard left excusing physical assault of a political figure whose views they disagree with would fit in well with the Khymer Rouge and the killing fields.

Trying to censor something only makes it more valuable in the eyes of many. This has been shown time and time again.

If you're scared of what he stands for you should be scared of people throwing things at him.

hard left violent thugs

Im voting Lib Dem btw.

And the fact that you typed that and didn’t actually consider what I was saying is the precise reason why this thread is actually full of a load of old hackneyed rubbish, and is of little value to anyone really.

Not surprising, given who started it and what they’ve posted on multiple threads.

In justifying violent attacks on someone just because you disagree agree with their political views then the Lib Dems would prefer that you didn't vote for them.

I didn’t justify and also said I didn’t wish any physical harm to be done. Merely said I understand.

The fact you wish to blur these lines are the reason that this thread, and many of the responses are utter bollocks.

I am considering writing to the Protection Command in the Metropolitan Police Service and strongly recommending that Nigel Farage is at the very least afforded the same protection as the mayor of London.

With the labour mayor you have the extreme tight wing nut jobs to worry about and for Farage, you have the extreme left wing nut jobs to worry about.

As I said, I'm no fan of NF as he is winding people to an extent where I am becoming very uncomfortable. Having said that, as long as he chats within the law of England, he has every right to do that.

Attacking people because of their political voice is just not baseball.

I am still undecided whom to vote for but it certainly won't be Reform, nor Will I vote Labour or Tory. For the record, I would not vote for the Libs as I cannot forget what they did to the poor souls who believed their manifesto pledge to remove uni fees should they ever get into number 10
I have always been a Tory as aspirations are important but they have had 15 years, admittedly we have Covid but their Rawada plan and worse still the total BS the big guy spouted from outside number 10 and the BS promises has made me lose faith in them.

Liz Truss is alsmot fully responsible for the Tories' woes.

Having said that, there is still a very good chance that the Tories may still get an overall majority!!

I really do think that another poster was onto something when they suggested DSC might be Joe Lycett 😂

ilovesooty · 11/06/2024 23:45

The chances of the Conservatives getting an overall majority are just about zero.

And while I don't think anyone should be assaulted, I don't think Farage is entitled to any extra protection funded by the taxpayer. If he feels he needs additional protection he can fund it himself.

Lonelycrab · 11/06/2024 23:53

Are reform a political party?

Or are they a limited company?

Perhaps they’re a Schrödingers political party, if you actually observe them they cease to exist and become a limited company, and all the “members” donations mysteriously disappeared into NF’s wallet….

Maybe a reform party member knows, I don’t.

Gtfto2024 · 11/06/2024 23:55

I don't like him, I don't agree with him but I think chucking hard objects is not acceptable. The milkshake, I'm fine with as it didn't cause harm, eggs I think are ok. A little embarrassment for them is fine, but nothing that could harm.

Violence has no place in our society

As someone who has experienced the aftermath of an acid attack in the family, it is absolutely not fucking ok.

There is no knowing at the time what kind of liquid is about to be thrown. Shrugging and acceptance of this will endanger someone.

Anyone who knows what acid can do, the pain amd slow death it can cause. would be petrified in those split seconds.

I can't believe how many naive adults there are. I have to hope it is naivety, and not cruelty.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 12/06/2024 06:07

I agree with the above post. People saying it’s fine for milkshakes etc aren’t thinking of the practicalities. No one can be sure what liquid someone is throwing.

ActivePeony · 12/06/2024 07:06

They don't give a shit because they don't agree with his words and are incapable of using their own words to disagree with him so sanction assault against him.

Imagine the fucking outraged uproar if Angela Rayner was egged or Starmer was 'milkshaked'.
