General election 2024

Seeing as it’s anonymous… where is your vote going?

My views -

Conservative - Potentially had a tough ride with Covid & brexit aftermath to navigate. However, looking at the state of the NHS & the ever increasing price rises in almost everything… how could I vote them in again?

Labour - Almost feels like the only likely alternative. Change is as good as any? But Keir starmer does precisely 0 for me. I cannot get passionate about him.

Greens - Won our constituency a while ago, whilst I appreciate what they stand for the changes they made locally have had a negative impact on the average citizen IMO.

Reform - Nigel Farage is DIFFERENT, I don’t think that can be denied. Part of me thinks bold and controversial is what we need and the other thinks he is a brilliant campaigner and is just playing up to the people trying to act like ‘one of the working class’ to garner votes.

Where is your vote going?

That led by donkeys film about Farage made me cry.
I cannot believe anyone could vote for a man like that.
I cannot believe he’s getting air time.

Makeitblue · 10/06/2024 20:39

Reform, purely because they are the only party to acknowledge that the NHS doesn't just need more funding, but a complete overhaul.

LizzieW1969 · 10/06/2024 20:40

Labour. They are the only party to vote for here to keep the Tories out.

WestEndWindy · 10/06/2024 20:40

So @Wheresyourvote where's your vote going?

Labour for me.

PlantDoctor · 10/06/2024 20:40

Labour, although the seat is usually Tory and occasionally Lib Dem. I quite like our Labour candidate this year.

CaptainOliviaBenson · 10/06/2024 20:40

Labour - because they're the only viable option and I've always voted for them.

The80sThe80s · 10/06/2024 20:40

LibDem is the option to beat Tories in my constituency so Lib Dem.

TheFlakyPoster · 10/06/2024 20:41

Wheresyourvote · 10/06/2024 20:38

Those voting Labour, can I ask if that’s because you genuinely believe in Keir Starmer and his policies or because you just want conservatives out?

I'm voting Labour, not because I believe in Keir Starmer but it is the party that I have always shared the most political views with. It's always been that or Greens for me but there is no candidate in my area.

rockingbird · 10/06/2024 20:41

Is the monster raving looney party still in with a shot..? They'd get my vote!

ShrinkingEveryDay · 10/06/2024 20:42

I’m a Labour voter usually but vote tactically against the Tories so it’s LD where I’m currently living 😊

GallopingGhost · 10/06/2024 20:42

Tempted to vote Labour for the first time because a canvasser knocked on the door for the first time in the 20 years we've lived here. In reality will prob spoil ballot paper because they're all hopeless.

Wheresyourvote · 10/06/2024 20:42

@WestEndWindy genuinely right now I do not know. Not one is making me think ‘yes.’ It’s why I started the thread… it’s not something you really chat about amongst friends is it!

Any party that has Nigel Farage in is a huge no. Anyone voting for him clearly has no morals and should seriously be looking at themselves in the mirror.

The Conservatives have had many years, lied for most of them and keft the country in a terrible state.

I will vote tactically against Conservatives and Reform.

EffortlesslyInelegant · 10/06/2024 20:43

Quittingwifework · 10/06/2024 20:38

Are these comments necessary? Is it not possible to understand that other people might have the same sorts of feelings about labour and Lib Dem?

Perfectly possible to understand that but I will remain perplexed until the day I die why anyone of presumably sound mind would vote for racism and hatred. There's quite enough of that already.
Good old Brexit Nigel with his German passport and European kids does not give a shit about you. Not that any of them give a shit about you but he especially doesn't.

Cherrysoup · 10/06/2024 20:44

Looking at the European union result this week, it seems everyone has gone for the far right and I suppose Farage is the closest we have to that. However, I will not be voting for him.

ssd · 10/06/2024 20:44

Labour

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 10/06/2024 20:44

Green or Lib Dem, am undecided

StripedPiggy · 10/06/2024 20:44

Labour.

I have always voted for whoever was best placed to beat the Tory, and where I live, that’s Labour. The Lib Dems & Greens are an irrelevance round here.

Unfortunately I live in one of the safest, true blue conservative seats in the Midlands, so it won’t make any difference unless the Tories really are facing an unprecedented collapse in their vote leading to a wipeout.

Adm1010new · 10/06/2024 20:44

I’m floating at the minute . I just know it won’t be conservative

Justkeepswiimming · 10/06/2024 20:45

Wheresyourvote · 10/06/2024 20:38

Those voting Labour, can I ask if that’s because you genuinely believe in Keir Starmer and his policies or because you just want conservatives out?

Both. I think the Tories cannot be trusted. I mean it seems obvious to me but ...erm track record. I grew up under Labour. Since the Tories came in its been shit after shit after shit. I've had shit all my adult life.

I listen to Starmer. He may be boring and stuffy, but where has supporting performance politicians got us. I don't want politicians who go down a zip line with a bloody flag or fall off sups for pr stunts. I dont want a pm who disrespects our war dead and international standing to such an extent that he leaves commemoration events early, to boost his failing campaign (that went well) I want someone who takes the governance of our country seriously, and whatever else you think of Starmer, I believe that he will do that.

And I sure as HELL do not want Farage. And I'm baffled and pretty disgusted by anyone who does.

maybein2022 · 10/06/2024 20:45

Lib Dem, although I feel it’s a wasted vote. 😔

I can’t bring myself to vote conservative after the absolute mess they’ve made, plus the outrageous behaviour and lies during Covid and much more (not least the ridiculous National service plan).

I can’t bring myself to vote labour for various reasons either. Both as bad as each other tbh.

lululu16 · 10/06/2024 20:45

Green

G123456789 · 10/06/2024 20:46

Tory, good sitting mp. But Christ the party has run out of ideas

Labour are just Tory light (again) but with a large number of very left wing members who could oust Starmer and bring in their own person (it will be a man)

Lib dems...who?

Greens ridiculous policies that will cost a fortune, pandering to the green lobby has already helped push up fuel bills, committed us to electric cars which are basically a tax on the poor and a technology that will be redundant in 10 years

Reform are hated by the press esp the BBC who have even tried to stoke a left wing push in the eu elections with their stories on the "ultra right" so will not be able to do anything without huge criticism and the left making maximum disruption

The Welsh and Scottish nationalist can't run a piss up at George Best's house, thank God I don't have to consider these corrupt idiots

So overall we're stuffed

Please don't

Please vote labour

Reform, purely because they are the only party to acknowledge that the NHS doesn't just need more funding, but a complete overhaul.

They do think the NHS needs reforming. They think it needs destroying and the contracts given to their rich mates.
