General election 2024

Seeing as it’s anonymous… where is your vote going?

My views -

Conservative - Potentially had a tough ride with Covid & brexit aftermath to navigate. However, looking at the state of the NHS & the ever increasing price rises in almost everything… how could I vote them in again?

Labour - Almost feels like the only likely alternative. Change is as good as any? But Keir starmer does precisely 0 for me. I cannot get passionate about him.

Greens - Won our constituency a while ago, whilst I appreciate what they stand for the changes they made locally have had a negative impact on the average citizen IMO.

Reform - Nigel Farage is DIFFERENT, I don’t think that can be denied. Part of me thinks bold and controversial is what we need and the other thinks he is a brilliant campaigner and is just playing up to the people trying to act like ‘one of the working class’ to garner votes.

Where is your vote going?

Tactically it would be Labour, I feel politically homeless so I still don't know.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 26/06/2024 16:40

Tories - nope
Labour - nope
Lib Dems - nope
Greens - nope

I get the impression Keir doesn’t want to have policies or opinions in case they discourage the inevitable tide of people simply voting for labour because they don’t want Tories

Well put. I wouldn't care about Keir being boring. Boring is fine. I do care that he is a cynically two-faced, weaselly fence-sitter. I don't ever feel convinced that he means a word he says. The two things that most piss me off about him are his flip-flopping about the gender issue, and his both unimpressive and baseless claim that he is going to recruit 6,500 teachers. Where from, Keir? I will be spoiling my ballot paper.

You are not alone! Maybe another TV debate where KS and RS get to tear strips off each other for an hour will help us all out 🙄

I voted for Tony Blair and ended up with Gordon Brown

That was an upgrade though really.

😂

I voted for Tony Blair and ended up with Gordon Brown. My opinion is my own, I don't expect others to agree but I am entitled to it.

Tony Blair wasn't removed. He resigned.

I'm not sure I get the point of either of your replies to my previous post? Tony Blair did resign, they all do eventually if the party has had enough of them. Either that or they get voted out of office if they make it as far as an election. Are you trying to suggest that Labour would never replace their leader with someone we hadn't voted for?

Just realised most constituencies here in Cornwall are looking to be going to labour. That really is something! Mine in north Cornwall is still Tory/ Lib Dem marginal with labour looking to split the vote unfortunately. So looks like I will still have to vote Lib Dem tactically

Fellow North Cornwall dweller here too. Mine's also a tactical Lib Dem vote. Anything to get rid of the invisible Mann!

I'm responding to your suggestion that Keir Starmer might be removed and replaced by Angela Rayner. I'm sorry if that was unclear to you.

verdantverdure · 26/06/2024 23:52

I'm voting tactically for the Lib Dems in the hope of reducing the number of Tory MPs in Parliament by one.

(Very leafy Surrey seat that would normally be considered a Tory safe seat)

I don't know yet

Possible spoiled ballot.

I don't think my MP will lose their seat anyway

It might be worth checking the tactical voting websites.

It's between Labour and LibDems at the moment. Still undecided.

Which one has the best chance of winning in your constituency?

(If you'd rather try and achieve something with your vote rather than chuck it at one of the "definitely can't win here" candidates.)

FeelingHotHotHotFeelingHotHotHot · 26/06/2024 23:57

I wanna vote LibDem, but really Labour is going to win in my constituency. And I am scared if I vote for LibDem it may split the vote IYSWIM, and Conservative may get back in/stay in Government! Shock

PlantDoctor · 10/06/2024 20:40

Labour, although the seat is usually Tory and occasionally Lib Dem. I quite like our Labour candidate this year.

If you want the Tory out it might be worth considering a tactical vote for whichever of the parties you are deciding between can actually win.

HauntedCosmos · 27/06/2024 00:40

I don't think I can, in all good conscience, vote for any of the parties. They don't stand for the important issues to me. I would like to vote but it'll probably have to be a spoiled ballot.

What? None of them?
