You know the drill though, that one needs to be used up first lowers glasses to give (behave Chocolate!)

Some of us already have btech results, some have unconditionals, but it's a nervous time for most. Lots of Wine Gin Flowers

@Janus
More relieved than proud at the moment, but the pride will come I think. My Classics teacher actually gave a hug and said she knew I could do it.

Banquosghost · 16/08/2018 18:06

I feel exhausted and flu-like and all the lack of sleep is catching up with me. DS has cheered up (made his insurance offer) and rather than going out wants to stay in with me and DH and have a few drinks/watch a film. It's going to be difficult!

UrsulaPandress · 16/08/2018 18:21

Just swinging by to say DD got in to her first choice, meeting the offer perfectly. She's partaken of the free Nando's and is currently riding the self harming TB before heading out with a big bunch of mates to celebrate.

Congratulations to all.

raspberryrippleicecream · 16/08/2018 18:32

I have good news. DD finally got a Clearing offer for the course she wanted at a uni she is very happy with. We've just gone on UCAS and accepted it.

Her friend, who had got her Oxford place, has been an absolute star.

Friend is coming round tomorrow night and we will celebrate with her.

Hope anyone else dealing with Clearing is as successful.

raspberryrippleicecream · 16/08/2018 18:33

Congratulations Ursula and to everyone else.

Janus · 16/08/2018 18:35

Fantastic news Raspberry, knew things would come good.
Well done Ursula too.
Totally pooped too, we’ve actually been Uni shopping in H&M Home this afternoon, if I wasn’t so exhausted I’d probably find it emotional but I’m like a zombie!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/08/2018 18:42

That's awesome news Raspberry :) I am so pleased for your dd.

Congratulations everyone and their DC.

DS got 3 As and a D in his further maths, which we're really pleased with...a shame he didn't get an A* as that would have meant a £1000 scholarship, but hey, it's only money Grin

Lepetitpiggy · 16/08/2018 18:46

Haven't been on this thread but was on the Oxbridge one under another name and in fact met OYBBK Wink anyway, ds has got his needed grades and is off to Exeter (first choice) to do Physics!!

Very very pleased and relieved!

flatmouse · 16/08/2018 18:46

Some lovely good news coming through. Feel like our lives are finally off hold as we know the next step!
DS headed out already for pre pre's! Have reminded him to ensure he has phone on leaving taxi this time!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/08/2018 18:58

That's lovely Piggy :) I'm so pleased for your ds! I hope you've been having a lovely summer.

Sorry for garbled message earlier, I didn’t have time to finish it and didn’t know it had posted anyway. Well done to all that have sorted today and good luck to those working through this process, it’s been a rollercoaster of a day!
I don’t know why the head said that, it’s put doubts in my mind. DD pretty convinced she’s staying with first choice but there are definitely still places for history for top 20 uni’s (not my decision, take a step back mother)

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 16/08/2018 19:10

Raspberry that's great news! Time to celebrate! (Or sleep)

MsAwesomeDragon · 16/08/2018 19:14

I'm so pleased raspberry, we've been worried about you and your DD all day. Flowers I'm glad she's got a place she's happy with but it's such a shame it's been so stressful getting there.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 16/08/2018 19:27

raspberry so pleased that she has got there in the end.

FantasyAndHope · 16/08/2018 19:34

So pleased raspberry is she up north or down south? Or midlands x

Bakeandyarn · 16/08/2018 19:37

raspberry that’s lovely news, it’s great that things are been sorted quickly. Feeling a bit emotional now it’s all over, DS is ou with his friends, I think the stress, lack of sleep and seeing them all together for the last time this morning is catching up with me! Thanks for having me, this thread has kept me sane!

raspberryrippleicecream · 16/08/2018 19:44

Thanks everyone. Been lovely knowing people were here for us. Its way up north, in fact Scotland, so a very quick turn round - 3 weeks - for someone who refused to make any plans for going!

Student finance informed straight after accepting at UCAS. As soon as uni confirmation comes through she can apply for accommodation, which is guaranteed thankfully.

GnomeDePlume · 16/08/2018 19:46

Fantastic news Ursula & Raspberry. Elating & exhausting.

DD2 is off out tonight with friends. Most have got either what they wanted or expected so no real shocks. I think it is all starting to look very real for them. Many are now off to uni. Some have decided that in the end uni is not for them. Tonight will be a bit of a last hurrah I think.

Now need a list to make sure everything gets done. She already knows the accommodation she is going into. Self catering, sink in her room but not en-suite (her choice, she didnt fancy having to clean the bathroom Hmm).

Appointment with the bank to open a student account made for next week. We will start looking at what she needs to take with her. There is quite a lot of things she mustnt take (includes fairy lights & extension leads).

forgottenusername · 16/08/2018 19:50

congratulations to all of the mn offspring who collected results today :) long wait is over and relief all round!

dd2 got into her first choice uni but is considering re-marks for music (recommended by her teacher) and maths as she's just below the core 3 and 4 average 90 UMS needed for an A*

lashingsofgingerbeer · 16/08/2018 19:50

Raspberry fantastic news - so happy for DD & you after such a stressful day - time to celebrate!

Ursula fantastic news too for DD! Plus no incidents with TB - great day all round! Maybe you'll pop in still & stay for some Gin

DD out celebrating with friends now - not expected back until tomorrow - glad they are having some fun now. Time for some gin...or maybe wine...oh sod it both! Cheers everyone Smile

PandaG · 16/08/2018 19:51

Great news raspberry, and so pleased ursula.

I'm knackered. Broken sleep has really caught up with me. DS had a few mates round for a celebratory glass of fizz this afternoon. I'm now very unselfishly helping him tidy up the leftovers...though he clearly isn't his mother's son, I don't understand leftover prosecco at all!!

Myeastername · 16/08/2018 19:57

So happy for all of your dcs who have achieved what they wanted/needed for university and apprenticeships. Also, for those of you whose dcs have ended up on a slightly different path. I can't say why I'm so sure of this, too outing, but honestly, in years to come you'll look back at today as the day that everything went right, even if it doesn't feel like it today.
Doe anyone who is interested, DC went into school to be with 'his'students and to congratulate them all on their hard work and their achievements. He says the reactions were very emotional - even he felt a leaky eye here and there! He is still grinning from ear to ear and actually got a bit overwhelmed when be was telling me about some of his students. He's really hoping they keep in touch so be can keep up with their future achievements. He said it's days like today that make all the difficult days worthwhile and that it's fired him up for next year already!

Petalflowers · 16/08/2018 20:00

On the Facebook group, WIWIKAU, somone is posting a useful, list,of what to take, with people adding extra bits and bobs on. May be useful,to,look at.

(WIWIKAU = What I wish I knew about university)
