You know the drill though, that one needs to be used up first lowers glasses to give (behave Chocolate!)

Some of us already have btech results, some have unconditionals, but it's a nervous time for most. Lots of Wine Gin Flowers

MrSlant whoo hoo!

Blushah · 16/08/2018 08:51

lolimax -fantastic news! Well done to your DS for turning it around.

My DS got what was, for him, lacklustre GCSE results, pretty much bombed the lower sixth (AS grades D, E, U), went to Tech to start again doing a BTEC where he's been far more engaged, and has been accepted to do computer science at uni!

Hope our stories give hope to others whose DC don't follow the shining, golden path we lay before them!

MsAwesomeDragon · 16/08/2018 08:51

Congratulations to all those who have got what they needed.
Commiserations to those who will spend today trying to sort out another option.

I'm sitting outside dd's school waiting for her to come out (she's taking her time about it). Such a mix of emotions on the faces of the young people coming out, some look ecstatic, others look crushed.

Bakeandyarn · 16/08/2018 09:00

Checked Track at 7.30, firm confirmed! Just got his results from school, so relieved but really feel for his friends who haven’t got what they hoped for.

LoniceraJaponica · 16/08/2018 09:01

All feel all wrung out now.

First of all congratulations to everyone's DC who got in to their first choice of university, especially those who have had struggles this year. Commiserations to those who are disappointed.

Mixed news here. DD absolutely smashed it, and exceeded her offer. Her boyfriend missed his Oxford offer, and that has really taken the edge off the day for DD. I feel so disappointed for him.

Blushah · 16/08/2018 09:03

BTEC- 2 starred Distinctions, one Distinction. £1500 scholarship!! Woohoo. Hope everyone else gets good news today!!

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 16/08/2018 09:04

That's such a shame Lonicera. Congratulations to your DD, though. Is she thinking of adjustment, or really happy with her first choice?

LoniceraJaponica · 16/08/2018 09:10

She is taking a gap year Ellen. She wasn't sure about the course she has an offer for, and isn't really ready for university. More open days over the next few weeks now, then a final decision for 2019.

Janus · 16/08/2018 09:14

What will he do Lonicera, same course somewhere else? Are they hoping to be at the same uni? Congratulations on dd’s results.

catslife · 16/08/2018 09:19

dd on way back from college with her results - she was up at 7am and sixth form was open from 8am.
Results in line with predictions BDD. Not applying to uni but apprenticeships. Am hoping that now results are in her applications will be taken more seriously as employers realise she wasn't just applying as a back-up in case she didn't get to uni iyswim.

LoniceraJaponica · 16/08/2018 09:22

Yes Janus. His second choice wanted the same grades, but I'm sure he will get in.

EllenJanesthickerknickers · 16/08/2018 09:22

Sounds like a sensible decision Lonicera and much less stressful!

Good luck catslife with the apprenticeship applications.

MsAwesomeDragon · 16/08/2018 09:26

DD finally came out. She's happy with her results, they're very good but not quite as good as school predicted (she judged herself much more accurately)

HeyBells · 16/08/2018 09:29

I'm sat in the car in the rain outside school waiting. Have seen lots of parents going in with their DCs but that didn't occur to me, DS would have said that's not necessary!

LizzieB72 · 16/08/2018 09:48

DS is into his first choice - all the hardwork really paid off.
Good grades too.

Happy dance!

starfleet · 16/08/2018 09:54

DS is in on the course and at the uni he wanted. Such a relief.

Results a bit of a mixed bag but an A in the subject he is studying!

Nettleskeins · 16/08/2018 09:55

Ds1received two grades which I am delighted with, and didn't expect, but he is slightly miffed he did the same in both subjects when he is meant to be really good at one and terrible at the other... I suggested he got the breakdown of the marks and he said how do I do that? Where is the exams officer dear son? I should have gone in. No doubt it would have been embarassing though, I would have shaken all the teachers' hands with tears in my eyes.

watfordmummy · 16/08/2018 09:56

We're off to Nottingham really happy with his second choice.

He's happy now

DollyPlastic · 16/08/2018 09:56

Can anyone help with grade boundaries please?

I'm struggling to find the AQA psychology ones in relation to points? It's too hard to understand.

Banquosghost · 16/08/2018 09:56

DS missed a grade for his first choice but had got into his insurance. A bit disappointing for him but his insurance is a great choice so I think it will all work out. Congratulations to all those who have got what they wanted, commiserations to those who have missed out and best of luck to those working their way through clearing or other options x

Nettleskeins · 16/08/2018 09:57

MrSlant so pleased for your ds1! We just have the others to get through now...(ds2 has been ticking off ds1 like crazy over last few weeks for his laziness, I hope there will be new respect due now he has decent grades)

SongforSal · 16/08/2018 09:59

DD just phoned, 3 x B grade in a levels and has her chosen uni. So pleased for her. Good luck everyone!

bruffin · 16/08/2018 10:07

Just want to grab DD and give her a huge hug, but i cant until the 5th September. So proud of her.

Decorhate · 16/08/2018 10:08

thefishwhocouldwish Congrats to your dd! This is the course & uni that my ds wants to apply for next year so would be interested to hear what your dd's grades were.

Nettleskeins · 16/08/2018 10:12

Ds1 was 15 points off one grade boundary and 24 off another, curiously liberating not having the sense of "if only" I've known people three marks off grade boundaries who didn't get their marks changed though.
