Not the end of the threads, just this chapter of life. We'll keep going, don't worry!

However! Not to be used until this one is done

When DD2 left primary I did a little bit of a happy dance, the end of Easter Bonnets, school fetes worse than death, Baker Days, 'the school is closed because it is a polling station' days, Christmas Fayres.....

Results day will be the end of our 12 year association with the secondary school all 3 DCs went through. No happy dance this time.

It isnt a good school, in and out of Special Measures like it is caught on the door handle. One year it managed (or mismanaged) its way to the very bottom of the school league tables. Academy trust finally threw in the towel last year. By rights it should be closed down but it is the only school in town so on it staggers.

Having said the above there have been some bright lights. The support DD1 got from the exams manager to sit GCSE, AS then A level in a twilight subject totally out of sequence with the normal run of exams (GCSE in yr 7, AS in year 9, A level in year 10). All done without fuss. The maths teaching DD2 has had has been exceptional.

(I was at a family wedding yesterday so I am probably feeling a bit maudlin today)

We're off to France too, assuming I can get myself organised! DS1 turns 18 on Saturday, ane we're going to France in the early hours of Sunday morning, so what with a family lunch out and getting the dog to kennels, Saturday is promising to be very stressful!

DS1 has booked his DSA assessment for when we get back, and also his driving theory test. I haven't bought a single thing for him going away yet, in fact I haven't even bought him anything for his 18th yet. We were thinking maybe a small TV for him to take with him, but I want to encourage him to mix socially so not sure whether it might be counterproductive.

Dos is still hating his conservation holiday, so much so that his GF text me to say she was really worried he was going to self harm again...
He wont speak/message to me and as a last resort I contacted the people in charge. They said he seems happy and was involved with everything so I really don't know what to do. He's meant to stay until next Sunday but we are in tenerife on Thursday if he wants to leave early. Personally, I think he just really misses his GF. But he wont talk to us so I'm not 100% sure
I am very pleased he's not going to uni this sept - but I think a long conversation over ice cream and beer will be necessary when we meet up. And possibly a trip to the GP to try and sort out some counseling because this kind of reaction to stress isn't normal is it?

UrsulaPandress · 22/07/2018 13:08

How stressful.

DD is off to Guide Camp tomorrow. She is a leader now but I remember her first camp and the hysterical sobbing on the second day when homesickness bit. I think she managed to get to the third day that time. She is driving herself and her mate this time.

I am beyond happy as we have just managed to turn the self harming TB out for the afternoon. All the mares have been brought in so it is just him and a couple of geldings. He's only allowed 4 hours before the mares go back out but I'm hoping it will cheer him up.

We have no plans at all before results day. DD is enjoying being single perhaps a tad too much........

raspberryrippleicecream · 22/07/2018 13:34

Marmite I have a GCSE taker next year, and I'm sure there was someone else too from this thread.

DD is tearful today about results day, the not knowing is really getting to her!

marmiteloversunite · 22/07/2018 13:51

Raspberry That is good to know. We can start a thread in September when we have made it through results day.

Pleased to here the horse is having an outing!

We are off to Nottingham tomorrow for DD1's graduation. That's another 4 years which have sprinted by.

Downeyhouse · 22/07/2018 19:07

Have a lovely day Gnome

Downeyhouse · 22/07/2018 19:10

I can see our more rebellious members are already over posting on the new thread - this post is purely a bid to fill this one up.

Am still a bloody rule follower and don’t want to get shouted at by Kitten in assembly.

Downeyhouse · 22/07/2018 19:11

Looking back so much happened on this The End thread :)

What a crazy emotional few weeks we app had.

chocolateworshipper · 22/07/2018 19:25

Rebellious? Moi?

chocolateworshipper · 22/07/2018 19:29

chocolateworshipper · 22/07/2018 19:29

I could just finish off the thread
