Not the end of the threads, just this chapter of life. We'll keep going, don't worry!

However! Not to be used until this one is done

Marmite - non she's not looking to read music at uni - she just needs a B to go with her other subjects, which have to both be A. One more exam to go tomorrow. Annoying not to know what the school would have awarded for composition and performance - esp as they gave them to GCSE students...

We have one more tomorrow too. This time tomorrow we can relax!! Yay!!!!

DD thought biology went OK as well. I hope the grade boundaries aren't too high this year. Just chemistry paper 3 to do.

I'm sorry that the music papers have been so pants. Hopefully it will be reflected in grade boundaries.

c3 tomorrow, so it shouldn't be a stressy one.

Edexcel may be the other way round then, deceptively easier and higher grade boundaries than OCR and ASA. I really don;t know.
Both his classmates are in another exam this afternoon so no feedback yet from them.

Ds1 in a very very good mood. He keeps saying I loved writing all that information down, I had so much to say! It is worth doing the A level just to hear those words. I feel like the BT Lady, and he has an Ology, he has an "opinion" at last!

Signing in on the new thread. I go away for the weekend to find a new one and still have lots to catch up on the old thread.
Those of you joining mrslant and myself on the finishers bench, please let me know so that we can move along and make room for you all. Hopefully there will be sunshine, wine and cushions to make us all comfy.
I have finished invigilating so have more time on my hands now.
The highlight of my week is that my new oven arrives tomorrow!

You may uncross your fingers, texts received are mundane and not filled with woe so it looks as if this afternoon's exam has not derailed. I have been really worried whilst having to appear unconcerned. I'm so glad it's over now, for us at least.

Oh Kitten I'm so glad to hear it went well for your DD!
I've been thinking about her all day but haven't had a spare second to get on here and check how it went!

Glad to hear other happy stories too, sorry for the not so happy ones Marmite, Janina etc - hopefully one not so good paper won't be too catastrophic for their results. And remember - they are all very good at focusing on the little bits that went badly and forgetting the big bits that went well.

DD's French didn't get off to a good start - apparently the listening exercise was out of sync so instead of question one being about clip one and so on (as it's supposed to be) they had to try and infer which question was about which clip (1-20) Caused much confusion so hoping that will be reflected in the marking.
The rest of the paper went ok though hopefully.

Dd didn’t like RS at all
She liked 2 questions out of 3
She’s excited though! This time tomorrow we’ll be done and she’ll no doubt be at the gym
She rang to say the hospital had offered her a cancellation for Friday but she didn’t take it as she wanted some rest from alevel so she will be strong enough to recover properly from surgery

You lot have been talkative. There is no way I'll be able to remember everything everyone has said.

Knitting I'm glad this exam hasn't derailed and seems more positive than the last one. Enjoy being finished with exams!

Kitten it's got to be a good thing that the exam has gone well. We had 2 kids at our school taking that paper and both of them said it was really hard, so if she thought it went well that's a very good sign.

Dd hasn't left the house as far as I can tell today. I have no idea whether she's been revising or just chilling as I've only just got back from work.

I liked the ironing discussion. I'm in the no iron camp. I don't iron anything, ever. I think I'm doing well if I wash bedding and manage to get it back on the bed.

How did that happen so quickly Shock

DD is happily sprawled on her bed doing a maths paper.

We are on the finishing bench now catslife & Mrslant and it feels great after all the stress Grin I just asked DD if she wanted a cuppa & she asked if she could have a cool glass of rose in the garden instead to celebrate the end of exams & why not, after weeks of hard slog - may join her later too! Wine

So sorry to hear the French oral was such a shambles Lobster - hopefully a note going in to that effect from the school! Plus hearing the music exam was a nasty one Marmite & JaninLondon

Kitten fantastic news for your DD & Fantasy so glad to hear your DD can rest up after tomorrow. knitting you & your DS deserve all the very best now going forwards.

Well earned rests to those who have finished.
Commiserations to those with bad music papers and on the French mix-up. (Which is quite shocking really).
[OYBBK] what a relief about the STEP paper.

We had an unpleasant surprise today. Dd's PIP renewal form arrived. At least it doesn't have to be returned until after the exams but I was hoping for a bit of a break in the stress.

ds1 now talked to his friends doing A level Music and said he made an error in the listening. He had Decided that Richard Strauss Don Juan (unseen, and to Ds unknown) was film music, when it was late Romantic/early Modern. He also put the wrong date for Vivaldi. I told him that Don Juan is not the same as Don Giovanni as he was very concerned he had mixed up Mozart with film music. Well at least he linked the unseen to Wagner. But I don't think he mentioned the words Tone Poem nor did he recognise it, which clearly some of his group did or maybe that was just Twitter. Best not to look on Twitter!
He also mentioned he had written some bit of his paper in pencil (the notation) and wasn't sure if that was going to be accepted.
Stress. I thought it had gone West, but clearly not..

Cooking supper for football visitors tonight.

DD now super stressed about core 3 tomorrow.
She's worked really hard to catch up and is now confident that she can "do it" she just can't do it fast enough!
The exam is 90 minutes but
She hasn't been able to complete a paper in under 2 hours despite all her practice.
She seems to be accurate and getting everything correct, but she just can't figure out a way to get it all down in time.
This is the girl who finishes written exams with ages to spare - quite often half the amount of given time. So it's not that speed of writing is a problem.
I'm not sure what I can say - any advice from any of your mathematical DCs?

My DD is also doing C3 tomorrow. All I now is that she doesn't like it as much as C4. I don't really know why. She had biology today and doesn't feel like it went well (OCR A) and feels frustrated as she thinks the topics on it were good, so it was more her.....

Hoping they can both feel positive for tomorrow lobster

When DS1 was facing pre-1900 prose & drama, he originally said that was the paper he was most dreading.

He has now changed his mind and feels that tomorrow's paper (Britain: Empire & Warfare) is the worst one.

I've agreed that DS1 can have a 'gathering' at ours on Saturday evening. DH & I will be out for most of the evening, but we'll be leaving three younger teenagers at home to keep an eye on things.

I just suggested to DS1 that he could put some tealights in jam jars on the patio on Saturday evening. He looked at me like I was speaking Klingon.

Not sure what I'm more exited about. The end of exams or getting shoes on the horse. Actually I do. But DD would not be happy with me.
