Not the end of the threads, just this chapter of life. We'll keep going, don't worry!

However! Not to be used until this one is done

Belated happy birthday to LDG boy!

I'm finally on holiday too with the end of term. Yay. Realised yesterday it was 4 weeks since DDs last A level, and in another 4 weeks we would know!

thesandwich · 21/07/2018 10:30

Can I pop in and add extension lead, and clip on light which can attach to bed etc to the list? Dd found a squashy laundry bag handy too.

Downeyhouse · 21/07/2018 11:38

Loving the list of items. Thanks everyone.

Ds back from his holiday in Berlin.

They spent lots of nights in clubs meeting interrailers from around Europe and met a couple of Brits going to Nottingham too so is really happy about that.

Was back at the appartement by 6.30 am each morning so is exhausted now.

A few quiet days are needed after the madness of the last 3 weeks of exams, results, graduation and holidays.

In the meanwhile I am away with OH for a golf weekend among vineyards in Germany. Great to spend some time away from all our kids.

UrsulaPandress · 21/07/2018 20:58

Place marking as you've dropped off my TIO.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/07/2018 21:40

It's almost time for a new thread. I can't remember - we are keeping it in 'Further' right?

UrsulaPandress · 21/07/2018 21:47

Anywhere suits me.

TheThirdOfHerName · 21/07/2018 21:50

I don't mind where we keep it. I think it would be good to have an inclusive title that reflects the fact that not all are taking a path that includes university.

TheThirdOfHerName · 21/07/2018 21:51

thesandwich I've bought DS1 all three of those, so it's good to know they'll be useful.

Knittinganewme · 21/07/2018 21:55

I would have thought that we could fill another thread here in FE before September.

August seems to be racing towards us now, the last time I looked results day was seven weeks away and now it will be with us in under a month.

marmiteloversunite · 21/07/2018 22:05

Yes I am sure we can fill at least one more in FE with all of the joy of results day and the stress leading up to it. There will be many posts of strange dreams and lack of sleep I am sure!

marmiteloversunite · 21/07/2018 22:06

Year 13 - support thread. The results!

??

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/07/2018 22:28

Class of '18 Grin

Ok, I now need to calm my breathing down at the thought of how close results day is.

Find a diversion OYBBK, I've finished with the new bathroom now and am starting to research cold process soap making (also hot process because why not?). Hopefully it will keep me occupied for a few weeks at minimal cost and it will sort some Christmas presents too. It's about time I got some use out of that chemistry degree.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/07/2018 22:48

That sounds fun knitting!

I've got a bit of a hectic week this week. I've got some decorating to do this summer too.

OP posts:
TheThirdOfHerName · 21/07/2018 22:49

My distractions:
Making polymer clay charms with DD.
Familiarising myself with the music I'll be singing in choir next term.

It also helps that I'll be away for 9 days.

MrSlant · 21/07/2018 23:22

Nooo, no, nonononono, can't be thinking about results, it's so close for DS1 to get his dream place, getting fizzy hands just thinking about THE DAY. I can't see how he won't get his second place choice but the first is so good I'll be heartbroken if he doesn't do well enough.

Heading off to France soon, that should be a good distraction!

Thank you so much for the amazing list of things to get for going.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/07/2018 23:32

busy day tomorrow so new thread for when we are ready.

Just as a word or warning, be careful about sourcing pans and electrical items before accommodation is guaranteed. Some halls have induction hobs so pans have to be suitable. Some halls will not allow extension leads or fairy lights.

marmiteloversunite · 21/07/2018 23:41

So far I have only bought a few bits. Things that DD will need wherever she goes Things like Tupperware boxes.

marmiteloversunite · 21/07/2018 23:46

Anyone else feeling very sentimental at the moment. It has been such a year of change. Exams, leaving school, driving tests, unsure futures. Can't remember feeling this sentimental ever! Might be peri menopause too!

Went to see Mamma Mia 2 yesterday and it was very difficult not to cry my way through it.

Just feels like everything is changing and it is so exciting for the DC but sometimes I wish they were little again.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/07/2018 23:57

I know :( even our chimney sweep commented this week how dd used to watch him when she was just a nipper and he can't believe she's off to university.

MrSlant · 22/07/2018 00:05

marmite I have one going to uni (hopefully!) one going to sixth form and one leaving primary. I am basically the sentimental mess I was when pregnant with DS1. Anyone who tries to tell me it's harder with toddlers right now will get my most withering stare which is rubbish because my eyes are all puffy from crying

marmiteloversunite · 22/07/2018 00:12

Glad I'm not alone. DD2 does her GCSES next year and I hope I can find a support group as great as this one has been!

Yes for all their teenage angst we are going to miss them so much when they go to uni (hopefully) !

PandaG · 22/07/2018 00:28

Yes, I'm.a bit teary too. Glad we have some holiday booked between now and 16th! DS is planning a 170 mile bike ride over 2 days next week, in order to spend a few days with my dad, we'd willingly pay the train fare in both directions but he fancied the challenge! Campsite booked, route planned, single train journey including bike space booked for the return leg a few days later!!

marmiteloversunite · 22/07/2018 00:37

Yes we are off on holiday too so that should keep our minds off the 16th. Got to help DD pack for China. It is 34 degrees and very muggy over there. She has to sing in two concerts and wear a long black evening dress. Hope they have air conditioning in the theatres!

DD2 and I are going to Gran Canaria for a week. She is very excited which is nice.
