Not the end of the threads, just this chapter of life. We'll keep going, don't worry!

However! Not to be used until this one is done

No. I'm remembering my own Greek island holidays 40 years ago.

Happy days.

Knittinganewme · 04/07/2018 23:02

I am going to the Greek mainland so does that excuse me from ouzo? I may have committed in front of witnesses to going kayaking, I'd forgotten that DS has done this with scouts.

UrsulaPandress · 04/07/2018 23:06

An ouzo will improve the kayaking experience.

HesMyLobster · 04/07/2018 23:23

Wow Downey!! Huge congratulations to your DS! That's wonderful news, I'm so so
pleased for you both🍾 Thankyou for getting us off to such a fantastic start, I have a good feeling about all the DC on our lovely thread - now I seem to have something in my eye . . !

Just got in from 6 hours of rehearsal - Ursula pass the ouzo!!

UrsulaPandress · 04/07/2018 23:31

Just getting the glasses out of the freezer.

likelyLilac · 05/07/2018 01:02

congratulations downey!
dd is listening obsessivley listening to "asmr" videos in a desperate attempt to relax, she's already panicing about results day!

doistayordoigo · 05/07/2018 07:22

Wow Downey what amazing news!!

GnomeDePlume · 05/07/2018 08:35

Ursula I hope the UTI clears up quickly

It all feels like we are 'on hold' at the moment.

DD1 is looking at available (and funded) PhDs at the moment but at the same time working as many hours as possible at the local supermarket to recharge her bank balance.

DD2 is at a loose end so is helping out a friend's DD who is struggling with Y9 maths

DS is supposed to be getting fit to apply to RAF but takes a lot of cajoling to get running. To his credit, he does go once galvanised into action.

lashingsofgingerbeer · 05/07/2018 08:36

Big congratulations Downey to your DS on his fab results & of course to you for supporting him too! Enjoy the rest of your week & graduation now 👨🏻‍🎓🍾 Having lived abroad I know it will be extra emotional saying goodbye to your DS's friends & of course your DS. Are you still living in Belgium when he comes to UK Uni?

Smiling at all the DC packing & holiday escapades on here. Got to love your first holiday away with your friends & fond memories of it still. Ursula hope your DD is rehydrated now! One more week to go & we are off on hols too - cannot wait!

Downeyhouse · 05/07/2018 10:22

Lashings

Yes am staying put for a few more years at least.

ds is so ready to fly the nest am very excited for him. He has never lived in the UK so it will be an interesting experience for him. I have lots of family there but I suspect they will not see him as he will be too busy having fun.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 05/07/2018 10:25

I hope everyone enjoys their holidays or about to be holidays.

Dd has her last concert with the college choral society tonight. She is doing a solo but seems entirely cool about it. She does love singing so I hope she can find a congenial choir at university.

ShanghaiDiva · 05/07/2018 11:09

Ds is next for results. IB release results to universities and schools today at 1pm then tomorrow at 1pm for students. We are in Hong Kong so will be 8 tomorrow night for us, although it's possible track may get updated later today assuming he has met his offer.

NoHaudinMaWheest · 05/07/2018 11:50

Good luck for tomorrow shanghai

raspberryrippleicecream · 05/07/2018 12:35

Good luck for tomorrow Shanghai.

I'm feeling proud of DD for successfully managing her packing now!

Ursula hope the UTI clears up quick, they are miserable.

DD's last concert band concert tonight! We'll have to hand back her borrowed instrument after, which seems a bit like losing a family member after 5 years.

DD is meant to be sorting out the case today, there is 5 years worth of tat in it.

adrinkofwater · 05/07/2018 13:09

DD has just announced that she entered some EU competition things to win inter-rail tickets and she has got them! Apparently they were giving loads away and "they" entered as a group, except her boyfriend couldn't be one of the group as he wasn't 18 by 1st July! I feel excited and apprehensive at the same time. No plans made yet, other than they'll probably go end of August/ beginning of Sept, which is great if all goes well on results day, If not she should be practising for the hideous UKCAT again! Any inter-rail tips greatly appreciated.

She has prom tonight too!

TheThirdOfHerName · 05/07/2018 13:19

This article made me smile

Downeyhouse · 05/07/2018 14:59

Good luck to your son Shanghai.
Let us know how he does.

Ds had to submit his own results to UCAS so he did not have the possibility to check there first.

To those with concerts tonight I hope they go well - enjoy.

I hope all the holidaying dc are having fun (UTIs and wisdom teeth permitting).

PandaG · 05/07/2018 15:08

All the best Shanghai's DS! Hope concerts and holidays are fun!

DS is getting ready for gold d of e expedition here, I'm a bit concerned about him walking in the heat!

chocolateworshipper · 05/07/2018 18:37

DD is supposed to be going to Wireless this weekend, but very stupidly paid someone for tickets who has now done a runner Angry

HardwickWhite · 05/07/2018 19:07

Ah TheThird I just laughed out loud, but not at my own DD, but at memories of myself at that age. I really thought I knew it all, and had the most stressful life imaginable. As a fifty something now, all I know is that I know nothing. As horrendous as the last few months have been for our family for various reasons, there are many, many millions of people who would trade places in a heartbeat. Gin

Good luck for tomorrow Shanghai. I love it that all over the world there are strangers rooting for each others DC. Star Star Star

TheThirdOfHerName · 05/07/2018 19:30

chocolateworshipper how rubbish for her. Is it someone she knows well?

chocolateworshipper · 05/07/2018 19:40

No - she very stupidly bought it off "a friend of a friend"

starfleet · 05/07/2018 21:00

Good Luck to your DS Shanghai.

How rubbish for your DD chocolate - does the friend not have anyway to contact the runner? Wireless was the one festival that DS really wanted to go to but it clashed with his holidays. I hope she gets to go.

adrinkofwater - one of DS's friends got one of those too. He is planning to leave next week for four weeks. I'm not sure where he is going though.

DS arrived safely and with no mishaps along the way. He said the hotel is better than he expected.

lashingsofgingerbeer · 05/07/2018 21:22

Shanghai best of luck for tomorrow & your DS's results. So wish A Level results were done & dusted as quickly!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/07/2018 22:27

Good luck Shanghai!

Chocolate, that is rubbish,
